You nailed these two IMHO.

Meanwhile, I've certainly noticed that some artists' designs look more "sketched"/"drawn onto a notepad" while the others look more "pristine" for lack of a better word. I realize that the former gives it more of a Scribblenauts look (thanks largely to the DS's limitations), but the latter IMHO seems to capture the art-style itself.

I think it would be ideal if the artists could all agree on which style to use, but I guess that's not being particularly practical.

No, I was just stating my opinion that it would be cool if the avatars shared a few more of the same design principles. It would be like a Simpsons avatar thread if some looked more like Family Guy and others looked more like Futurama... it's not a bad thing, just I personally would love to see a more unified art approach. I was considering making up a set of digital trading cards just so you know, so I'm aware that this is a "selfish" personal suggestion, with which you're more than welcome to disagree, but that tone was kinda unnecessary... especially since a few pages back I was defending the artists who wanted to deviate from the 'sweat-shop like' list of requests.

For instance, some of them don't even have shadows, or have really wide shadows while others are really narrow. Obviously this is easy to append, but I'm just sayin'. :|
