FUCK!!!! When I got to the Boca Raton, FL TRU they were out!!

NNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Bioshock selling out before it's released. Nice lol.

My shithole Gamestop better have my LE copy ready or there will be consequences. Perhaps unpleasant ones.

The Target in Crossroads Shopping Center, Cary, NC didn't have it.

But they did have evidence of having accidentally put it out for sale early - there was shelf space put aside in their glass encased game racks with a sticker that read, "Bioshock $59.99". Can anyone who has worked retail at Target tell me whether it's normal to reserve shelf space and advertise the price for a game that doesn't release for a week as if you had it in stock in the back?

Its typical, the target I went to had a spot reserved as well.

This game can't be fully appreciated unless you are familiar with the philosophical premises it is directly attacking. The game appears to be one big F U to Ayn Rand and Objectivism. It is pretty freakin' amazing to see ideas like this incorporated into a videogame.

I've read all of Ayn Rand, and I don't really think you can call it an attack. I've only played the demo and
the splicers just seem like loonies, not Objectivists. Andrew Ryan seems more like a megalomaniac than John Galt
. It seems more like an Objectivist setting with monsters rather than Objectivists as monsters.

This image is completely spoiler free and comes with fun slogans!

it seems like Andrew Ryan (sounds a lot like Ayn Rand) aka John Galt who creates Rapture aka Galt's Gulch took his ideas a little too far and his world fell apart. Are we to divine then, that Objectivist ideas when taken to their logical conclusion, inevitably lead to disaster and suffering and horror? lol

You're in Boca Raton, FL?! :O

Same thing happened to me... in New York. ;) Sorry I got your hopes up.

Went to Toys r Us. Asked for Bioshock, and he said they did have them. Checked the shelf, didn't find it and went to the back to look. Then, he came back and said they must be sold out. I proceeded to cry and post on GAF about it.

Surely it's a possibility due to accident and chance, but I don't think Ken Levine is asserting that it's the inevitable end result.

Please please please don't talk about the content of the game in here. Don't even hint at hints. This is obviously a thread for people looking hard for this game. I don't want shit spoiled at all. Don't even confirm if things aren't happening in the story please.

I don't think that's exactly the case that the game is attacking it: it seems as if the creatures at the source of the Plasmids may have been a rare entity that caused discord in Rapture, and who knows what other interesting psychological effects the Plasmid has caused. That said, the incorporation of that theme is pretty eff-ing amazing, and one of the reasons I'm soo excited for the game. I also like games grounded in an alternate version of the middle of the 20th century... go figure :lol

The game takes place in 1960.

I don't know why everyone keeps talking about the 1950's.

You know what, I made fun of my buddy who was avoiding the internet altogether in order to keep his Harry Potter unspoiled. I'm starting to get the impression I won't be clicking anything Bioshock if more and more people get this game early.

freehold is a bit of a drive since i have work, probably won't be able to make it out there

I might check the freehold store tomorrow.. I wouldn't expect them to, because they never even have new games period.

On a side note, the Bioshock commercials airing on tv, now say that the game is "Available Now" instead of the "8.21.07" it used to have.

:lol :(

I will check tru's in eatontown... I said earlier that I didnt want the game, but I just played the demo and it was the shi*....

I just saw that as well. :lol

Early stealth release confirmed?

Have you considered Middle Georgia College?

Half of my high school mates went there, so I never really thought about it due to that association. (Not that I disliked them, it just made the school seem more like a extension of high school in my mind than a proper college. :lol Obviously, I know quite a few people who go there though.)

What's there to say?

The TV ads used to say "8.21.07" at the end, but it's already been replaced by "Available Now".

Sorry, I'm just having a hard time considering the ramifications of that statement.

LE version is mine tomorrow?

It would be a totally smart move from MS to release it tomorrow. Hype is huge coming off of the stellar demo. Put that shit out there.

MS to force early Halo 3 release confirmed.

I am kidding. Bungie is no simple game development studio to be coerced or cauterized.

wtf, stealth release confirmed?

OMFG The commercial just aired like every break, so I saw it 4 times now in the span of 45 mins.

STOP TORTURING ME!

I will say this, the demo was completely out of the blue with the big Spike announcement. I wouldn't put it past them to stealth release it knowing people will be runshing like mad to find it.

Dunno if skip or anyone is reading this thread, but what is the plan for media outlets now that the game is in consumers' hands? Are you guys still under NDA or can you post reviews? It would be kinda silly if you couldn't...

I expect more "leaks" tomorrow from other retail outlets. If not, seppuku is the only answer.
Might as well. Since pretty much all evidence points to people being about to pick it up, right now. There's no reason to stick to the "next week release" bs.

Jesus Christ! 5 times!

No one in my area knows anything about when it's coming out. Bunch of idiots here. I know Gamestop and EB Games won't get it in early. If they did, they won't sell it before tomorrow. I pre-ordered the Limited Edition today, but if I can get it early tomorrow, I'll forsake that pre-order.

That's up to the publisher and I seriously doubt any sort of early "leak" would be substantial enough to bypass an NDA.

Nothing official yet, but given these circumstances, mine will probably go up no later than Thursday morning.

EDIT- I am not under NDA for B-Hizzle.

For what it's worth the commercial that's been airing today says "Available Now!". Early release confirmed?

*prays*

That would be so awesome if the game releases early or if I can find it at TRU. Since I don't have to work tomorrow, I wouldn't mind playing this game all day.

Same here. I'm going to hunt this down with a vengeance tomorrow. :D
