How do you hide stuff in a quote?

I have links to share with y'all but I don't know how to hide them so you have to quote to see.

Edit: Thanks to the unassuming people who helped me!

Quote to reveal.

this didn't work sorry[email]

Welp, that didn't work.

To all the people pming me: I am not on the discord. I was never on the discord. I only got into reset when they accidentally put up open registration. I have no codes to give.

Don't share links to Discords in a post, even if they are hidden. That's how some channels got raided.

If you wanna get someone to a community Discord, ask them to PM you their Discord user and number, as Llyranor and I did in the last few pages.

If that's how you feel then why even bother trying out at the new site? You're going to hate it. 100%. All you've done the last few days on here is whine about echo chambers and 'toxic' moderation. You're going to have the same issues you had with old Gaf in Era as well. You're honestly better off staying here since, once the dust settles, the new approach here will align much closer to how you want a forum to be.

I still came here even with the issues. I'll still go there even with the issues. I'm in either/both places more for the Gaming stuff than OT anyway. And I don't have a problem giving the new moderation team over there the benefit of the doubt for the time being. Maybe they can least avoid the insanity of the beseda or bish types.

There is a pattern of past behavior that people are upset about (see post #9011 above). I don't associate the forums to Evilore. He doesn't make this place what it is, which is why I don't intend on leaving unless it becomes a complete ghost town around here.

That doesn't make sense. The main reason anyone should have for staying is that they think Evilore is vital to the community.

What's the site like? Ask as I am definitely a right of center guy (not deep right though, I dispise trump but certainly conservative) and often felt like NeoGAF, which was hugely left leaning, would attack and vilify me for just for thinking differently. So much so, I rarely posted in somethings i was interested in. Will this be permitted there?

Honest question, as I really enjoyed most of my time here but want to go to a place with the best info and is open to different viewpoints.

It's a bit early to tell exactly what it will be like. But I'm hoping that it will be more accepting of a wider range of views in some of the more difficult/polarised areas.

I'm a conservative (in the UK, so it isn't quite the same as what a conservative in the US is) - and I have experienced some difficulty from time to time on GAF with people assuming, without apparent justification, that this means I want to sell off the NHS, kill poor people, export everyone who isn't pink and indulge in other improbably nefarious acts. In the main UK PoliGAF settled down and I'm accepted (though a few other conservatives got driven off).

I have in mind a couple of threads (not for immediately, so as to let the community settle down a bit) to help people better understand each others point of view and to try and draw a few more conservatives/religious/others out of their shells a bit so we can have some proper discussions on whatever common ground we can establish without entering a gauntlet of negativity. It'll take some time and a bunch of goodwill to do it, but goodwill doesn't seem to be lacking in the Other Place right now.

That's an interesting take, but that isn't the only reason people are staying. Many people are staying because there is hope that things will be less of an echo chamber, and a place where you can actually discuss differing viewpoints without getting dog-piled. Also, so it's crystal clear, that doesn't mean allowing bigotry to run rampant.

Here's a snippet of what's happening over there...

I've heard many times from women how their are presumed to be men on internet forums that discuss video games. I think that, sometimes, that presumption affects how people post (such as the content of their posts, or their tone).

What about displaying the gender of members in here next to every post of theirs, under their profile pic? Of course, only if that user has declared their gender in their profile settings. That would allow women to remain anonymous if they prefer it, which is understandable. But by seeing "female" next to a person's post, it would inform, unconsciously or consciously, how we reply to that person.

How does that sound?

Why on earth do we need to talk to someone differently based on their gender?

It's like you didn't even read the post you're bringing over, which starts with the assumption that many people do assume that everyone posting is a man...

Unless the TOS is drastically altered or isn't enforced nothing is going to change.
People weren't being banned for having different ideas. They were banned because they violated TOS. It only seemed like they were banned for going against the "hive mind" because there was such strong Venn overlap between their beliefs and the off-limits speech that they got banned for. If someone wants to believe that they got banned for liking Trump when they said something like "Grabbing a strange woman by her pussy is a good way to say hello." then I don't know what to tell them.
That said it looks like the TOS is out the window.

I thought open signup for the other site was coming in a few days, are invites really that much in demand just to post a few days earlier than the general public?

I still fail to understand how my posting habits should change if I knew I was addressing a woman rather than a man? Isn't the whole point of gender equality/inclusiveness to breakdown the walls and treat everyone the same?

Was just checking out Reset ERA and couldn't find an option to register? Can anyone provide me with some more information?

Registration to the forum will open soon, but right now it's closed. It'll work in a similar way to Gaf's registration process.

I didn't mention anything about banning - I'm talking about the community dog-piling people that have a differing opinion than the majority.

Right now theyre trying to get as many people from the discords in as possible. The "invites" people are talking were the invitations for the community discords. They've been locked down for a while since some bad people slipped through the cracks and decided to post gore/porn in the chats. Open registration should be there soon enough.

Why on earth do we need to talk to someone differently based on their gender?

Same reason that we do so in real life. That's why there's a difference between guys' "locker-room talk" and how we behave when there are women present. That's also why women-only conversations (which I experience a *lot* of in my shop because I am the shopkeeper and shopkeepers don't count - and which is often far more explicit and revealing than man-talk is ) are very different to the way women talk when men are around.

It's just ordinary polite real life translated into internet.

It's not saying that they *should* change, it's operating under the assumption that many people do change how they respond based on gender and that they also assume most Internet posters are men. With that assumption, the poster felt it would be better to be able to have posters show their gender if they prefer.

You don't have to agree with the assumption, and you don't have to change how you post based on a person's gender. That's not what the conversation was even about.

And, yeah, we just went through an election where a guy who bragged about sexual assault was defended by people saying his words were just "locker-room talk." It's pretty clear that, at the very least, a lot of people out there very much do change how they speak depending on the listener's gender.

Pretty much how I see it. I don't assume any gender (nor do I care) and just reply to everyone the same.

What about the people that don't have "locker-room-talk" or talk with women about women things?
