The Trials HD Official Thread

Demo was alright, but it seems to be nothing more than managing your speed and weight to clear jumps.

Annoying to say the least, esp. for $15.
Isn't that a bit like saying Mario is nothing more than walking around jumping on things? Seems you've managed to miss the point of the game completely.

I did just get the Unyielding achievement though! Lots of trial and error on that one.

I've been working my ass off for that one. The double ramp at the end is tough to do consistently.

EDIT: I guess a five minute break is all I needed. :D

Wish I passed on Splosion Man and picked this up. If Shadow Complex wasn't next week and MvC2 on the PSN, I'd pick it up. For now, I'm stuck with the trial. I'll become a master of these first couple of levels. :P

I think I pretty much finished my first map... download it from me and give me some feedback!
Tried to add you but your friends list is full. Anyway I can download it still?

Fuck this level.

That level is no joke. Took me 114 faults :/

I've got an open slot for you ^_^
Just beat your level. I could tell you were testing out all the effects and features, so it was pretty cool. It was actually hard in some spots and overall I really enjoyed playing it. :D Can't wait for more. And it inspired me to create some!

How long did that one take you?

Well it took me some time actually because when I got the game I wasn't that good at making levels so I had to test pretty much everything alot.

But yeah tomorrow I will start on a new one, and try different things :p. Glad you liked it :D

Or peggle is just shooting pegs or a million other analogies I could make.

The game is excellent. The leaders give you an extra game within a game to try to not only go for the gold but beat the scores in front of you.

The complexity of actually trying to balance out your bike for speed and to navigate the course properly is immense. This is one of the most skillful games I've played in quite a while because you can always get better.

I've literally played tracks dozens and dozens of times to shave off a few seconds. Reminds me of Peggle of Geometry Wars in that way.

This is a hell of an addictive game. Get some friends on your leaderboards and dedicate yourself to trying to climb it and I guarantee you will a have ball.

Easily worth the money I spent.

I only wish the they had taken the extra step to host the dedicated levels themselves (ala Far Cry 2) so a real community could develop out of that. So many devs just miss the boat there. :(

But other than that, the game is completely awesome.

I can't believe how well this is selling. Goes to show GAF hype isn't everything, as if we didn't already know :p Over 26000 on the leaderboards after about 14 hours. To put that into perspective, that's almost double what Splosion Man sold in it's entire first day and I think it's even beating Castle Crashers first day sales. This is going to be the surprise hit of the Summer Arcade by the looks of it.

Splosion Man did 10k every day for the first three days and then 14k over the weekend, so it was at 54k on Monday morning. If Trials is at 26k after half a day it's really blowing it out of the water considering it also costs 400 points more. And Splosion Man sold really well, 2nd its first week and 3rd in its second week, so it looks like Trials is a huge hit.

What kind of bullshit restriction is that u can only download courses from your friends? The game is great but this restriction is making me uncertain if i should buy it or not.

Again, Amazon has this listed at $10, it's just not available through their store yet. But you can sign up to be notified when it's up. You'll also get $5 in credit for their MP3 store. :)

Buy some axe at target, it comes with 300 free points.

Thanks for the tips you guys. Unfortunately, we don't have a Target in Canada :|

I'll try the Amazon thing. Thanks again. :D

This is why I love GAF, would've never found this help elsewhere. *sniff*

Great post, added you on xbl.

This game is a lot of fun and has plenty of difficulty. The Skill section feels like something out of Pain. Definitely worth the money, but it's not easy so be warned.

Unyielding can kiss my ass. After nearly three hours, I finally beat that damn thing. Ramps at t the end kept giving me fits. But I think it was harder to beat the damn gold time than it was to do it without moving.

Some of the times on the leaderboards, even the friend leaderboards, are insane. I gave up trying to beat MMarsu's time on the first level.

Hey try my level out :D

Why do I visit this thread, each time I do I'm tempted to pick this game up!
I think I will cave this weekend.. :lol
Why are you resisting? It's one of the best games on XBLA. If your financial situation allows it, just get it! :D

I'd love some more friends to populate my leaderboards - I can tell you, I'm going to play the hell out of this (and don't worry, I'm not amazing or anything):

Gamertag: TRUTony

Please add me if you want some competition.

The Strike! achievement took me 128 tries, every attempt was funnier than the last.

Where's the Ground is my favorite track so far. I love how they throw the insanity at you the minute you enter Medium. Game is such a blast.

Are you serious? How the hell are you suppose to get amazing levels out of that?

I just bought the game and finished my first level. Its not very good, its just a simple jump with a ring of fire at the end.

I was pretty bummed when I found this out. I assumed it would be like LBP where people can just post there levels and anyone can play them. Other then that I don't really have any problems with this game. One of the best XBLA games out there. :D

Question... if you download a level from a friend, do your friends get access to that level?

For instance, if JdFoX187 downloads MMaRsu's level, and I'm a friend of JdFoX187 but not MMaRsu... will I see the level?

Yeah I did't care about the user level restrictions, i just had fun with the bomb carry stunt.

i think my favorite part is just trying to beat my friends times, lol

Just bought the game after loving the demo. I added Flunkie, Stoney, and Jube so far to populate my leaderboards. Going through and adding more people.
If anybody wants to add me GT: blah blah cr

edit: added smokey, Calamachino, ZombieSupaStar, len dontree, Fleet of Foot, Nelo Ice, and Buccket

double edit: a couple of people I added aren't showing up on the friends list like Jube and someone else. Feel free to add me if anybody needs to populate their leaderboard too.

I'm on as well.

my gt - dboythagr8

i'll say im getting sick of fucking eazyb having 1st place on every track i go after !!!!!!!!!!!

Feels way to much like you are playing around with ragdoll physics. The guy on the bike is like a corpse or dummy which gives the game a weird feel. I was thinking of getting this to get back that 800 points but I will pass.

MMarsu, your map is fucking insane. After spending 30 minutes trying to beat it without faults, I gave up and went to the career. Damn it gets difficult fast.

Looks like the game's biker isn't the only one acting like a dummy.
