The Trials HD Official Thread

One more observation. When the patch went live, the number of people who faultlessed the one tournament skyrocketed. Previously, there were about 50 gamertags who had achieved it, which and I think someone else posted this statistic but that accounts for less than .01 percent of the people who own the game (roughly 50/500,000).

1 tenth of a percent!!!

Maybe this is common knowledge by now, but I just looked up that they actually changed the tracks included in the tournament related to that achievement. All of the Hard tier tracks were removed.

so what does 1452 mean?

i was going to ask this too!

got medals on every track/tournament tonight. the dlc was good, overall harder than the standard game but the expert tracks i thought were a bit easy. kinda wish the game would move to more locations just for variety but if they release another track pack i will buy it.

Does anybody have some awesome custom levels? I have zero imagination and apparently the same goes for all my friends. GT = archie4208 if anyone wants to let me grab some levels. :D

Got the DLC yesterday and while I didn't play all the tracks, many of them were very enjoyable.

the 1-bit level was hard on the eyes, but pretty awesome at the same time.

The colors on the new levels were VERY nice.

I went to download the Big Pack tonight but I couldn't find it on Xbox Live. Does anyone know why it was pulled from the Marketplace? Bug fixes to be made by Red Lynx?

It is kinda buggy. I know my 360 will flat out freeze if I pick the new bone breaker minigame and the game has been lagging when I pick stages.

I haven't had any issues, though the Big Pack was hard to find for me too.

Wait...yeah, seems like its gone at the moment.

When it's back, try beating my extreme ski jump, chump! :D

It's not that far, but I just spent an hour trying to get past lawblobs and was psyched when I did it. I just want more people to get this pack, it's great!

The Big Pack is available here in Norway (just checked). And I haven't had any issues with it either. If anything, it just sealed Trials HD being my GotY.

i downloaded this demo last week sometime and finally got around to trying it out yesterday.

with all of the game sales going on over the holiday season, i bought this at full price and dont regret it at all.

this game is amazing.

Has anyone had this problem with the DLC? I downloaded it using my gamertag, and friends using my system cannot play the DLC. The DLC is "naturalized" to this console, but even if I log my profile in on a second controller so Xbox live sees me, nobody else on the same system can play.

No other 360 game's DLC I've seen has been like this - other gamertags on the same console can play what was originally downloaded to that console. Don't tell me Redlynx was that greedy that they locked the DLC to a single gamertag's use under any circumstances...

Are you sure they can play the full game with their gamertags (ie. it's not just a demo)? I hardly think RedLynx has made their own XBLA DRM scheme just for this DLC. And I think it's strange to call someone greedy, when they've just released the best valued DLC on XBL overall.

Yes, everyone can play the full game, no problems. They can also play every other full game, and access the DLC of every other full game.

The thing is, when I log in with my tag, so that someone else can start the game with Xbox live seeing me online, and someone else launches Trials HD, they get a unique error I've never seen in another retail or XBLA game:

"Guest account blocked".

And Trials won't even let them play any game modes past the main menu /if I am logged into live/ in the background on a second controller.

If I log out, they can then play the full basic game (without DLC active) on their gamertags.

What that implies to me is that Trials, after the title update to enable the new DLC at least, is doing something very unusual for an XBLA game with regards to rights and access.

As for being "greedy", I'd call it greedy if, going against the standard of every other game on the platform, a developer locked use of their DLC to just the person who downloaded it even for friends playing on the same console. Thus forcing every single person in a "family" setting to buy a copy of the DLC on their gamertag. Regardless of how much content is in this particular package of DLC, that's just dickish compared to how anyone else has done it so far.

Which is why I said I can't really believe they'd do that. However, I still don't have a solution after fiddling with it this afternoon.

I just found this game, it's great. Are people using the d-pad or analog? D pad usually bugs me on 360, but not as much in this game.

im not sure yet, but i think this might be the best game EVER.

i have not even had remotely enough time to play this game. i fear for my social life and personal hygiene when my work week ends and i actually get to put some serious hours in (not to mention the health of my poor hands and wrists). i cant wait to get some from work and play it.

so, i unlocked Hard and the Phoenix. what bike should i be using for most of the tracks? the Phoenix seems a bit heavier and slower than the last one i unlocked, but maybe i just need to get used to it.

is there a standard go to bike, or does it depend on the track? i cant really tell what bikes people are using in the replays i've watched. (probably i just need more practice in general and shouldn't worry about what bike im using)

that would suck if guest are really prevented from playing on purpose. have you asked at/checked the official forums?

I just tried this, first logging in with my US (secondary) account, started Trials HD and could access everything (incl. the DLC). I then logged in with my main account on a second controller and still had access to everything (from both controllers).

Trials HD + Big Pack = $20 = Best value on XBLA, hands down

Too bad Modern Warfare 2 keeps sucking my life away.
See, I want to think this, but it's at the point now where I really do want it, I have the points, but knowing my luck there'll be a sale in February and I'll have wasted my money if I buy it now.

The way it's still selling, I can't see a sale anytime soon. Regardless, you won't regret paying full price for it even slightly once you're playing it.

See, I expected that response, but I'm not at all convinced by it.

I bought it in any case, after reading an article on Joystiq about how gamers were complaining about spending $10 on a game and should get some perspective. And I realised I was being a jerk.

Although honestly, it's not holding my attention, but that might be because I need to buy some sort of cover for my Back button so I don't hit it when I want to press B and go right back to the fucking start of the level. :P

this is seriously one of the best games ever. the value im getting for the price ive paid is fucking insane. i will be buying the Big Pack very soon.

i cant believe how fun and awesome this game is. the only thing currently keeping me from playing it 5 hrs a day is Bayonetta, which im currently addicted to.

they are both very similar in that they are addictive, control perfectly and teach you MAD SKILLZ as you progress. seriously, on both games at first you just kind of flounder through the new levels faulting (dying) over and over and beating the level. then you get to the harder shit and do the same. but when you get back to the easier shit you realize just how much you have learned and mastered.

i cant believe the shit i am able to do now. the hard tracks seemed almost impossible when i first unlocked them and now most of those obstacles seem like second nature to climb.

i love it so much. i want everyone to own and love this game like i do.

Orellio is the baddest mofo on my friend list leader board. he is tops on most of the tracks. im starting to beat some of the scores on the easier levels im going back to now though.

i actually got a time up and got a replay posted too (which certainly shocked me), on on of the super easy levels though. still such a great feeling to get those platinum medals.

i just wish i could check out more friend replays, but most people arent ranked that high.

:lol Thanks. I've put way too many hours into this game. Your feelings pretty much mirror what I went through with the game when it came out. It's funny how games can be so different yet similar in somewhat abstract ways that we find a core focus on what we are actually enjoying. You cited Bayonetta, and I've noticed it in other games like N+, Mirror's Edge, Ninja Gaiden, and Rock Band, to name a few.

Crazy tangents aside, if you want some SRSLY crazy leaderboard rivals, shoot a friend request to Kowaku and TRUTony (both GAFers). They put my records to shame.

I have got more entertainment out of Trials HD than many $60 games.

I cant stress this point enough.

Trials HD has been more fun and given me more playtime than every single full price retail game I've purchased for the 360 aside from Street Fighter IV.

It's an incredible game and I'm so glad it's done so well. Super deserved.

Many of you have found my tracks through Giantbomb, but for those that have not;

GT: Najaf.

I have a few medium tracks that take a bit to master as well as the infamous 'Fear the End' that has driven many Giantbombers mad. If you do send a friends request, be sure and include a message saying its for trials or it just gets deleted.

EDIT: If you consider yourself a competitive player and want some fast times to race against, send an invite as well. I am ranked in the sub 800s overall and a majority of my DLC track times are sub 200 rank.

passing ultimate endurance with 0 faults would be easy now if it wasn't for Under Ground and the section where you have to fall down on pipes. After all this time I still haven't found a foolproof way to get past that bit. methods in top leaderboard vids are too risky for me to pull off

ok, i added both you guys who posted GT's above. thanks.

yeah. thats the problem i have with a lot of the advanced stuff. all of the top guys on the leaderboards do some extreme shit.

if im trying for a platinum run and i want to look up some replays i cant use any of the top 100 or more replays because they do such advanced time saving moves.

i just need the noob version replays sometimes.

Throttle on the left side, brake on the right. But only slightly throttle and brake. Too much and you'll fault. I think my replay is like that.

'Trials HD' (XBLA) Sprouts RedLynx TV With Tips And Hints

The new channel highlights player-demanded content, such as tutorials, tournaments, and other video valuable info about great RedLynx games such as Trials HD for Xbox Live Arcade.

"Trials HD is our hottest game to date," said Tero Virtala, CEO of RedLynx. "Ever since its launch, players have been clamouring for tips, tricks, and extra goodies. With this dedicated YouTube channel, we can reward them directly, developer to gamer."

RedLynx TV will feature a mix of 'official info' and user-generated content created spontaneously by the player community. A great example of this are the Trials HD videos created for RedLynx TV.

These videos were created by John Lloyd of Michigan, USA, a dedicated Trials player and a graphic design/video creation professional, in cooperation with RedLynx. Lloyd's videos feature tips and tricks, user-created levels, and the first ever RedLynx TV contest.

"John's work had a level of dedication to the game we could not ignore," said Antti Ilvessuo, creative director and co-founder of RedLynx. "Our games are about community, so we had to come up with a way to share this passion with everyone.

"We're starting with Trials but we want to talk with our fans about all of our games, going forward. This is a great way to get that started."

Trials HD also includes a level-editor with which players can create their own tracks and freely share them with their friends.

I cleared up a bunch of space on the friends list. If you want to compete against some good times or try my tracks send a friends request.

I ONLY ACCEPT IF THERE IS A MESSAGE ATTACHED SAYING ITS FOR TRIALS HD.
