The Trials HD Official Thread

I bougth it but it's taking hours downloading. And it's fucking 8Mb only goddamit.

Does someone has their Xbox Live speed reduced to shit lately? I do't know what is wrong but mine is sloooow as hell but my internet speed is not affected at all. Is it the holidays effect?

You inhuman monster. I'm 188 tries and 15:59 on that level! I'm sure I could improve that but not to 2 faults and a platinum time!
hahaha :lol
my first attempt was ~480 tries, 28 minutes if it makes you feel any better
I can now get through it even quicker, but I always get 2/3 faults - the three tyres dropping down feels like random chance, even after hundreds of attempts - and i keep screwing up the vertical pipe section at the end, I think my "technique" is a bit off :/

played through the medium tracks and the first few hard of the DLC -- not liking the big air vent things so far, but the tracks are fun, definitely worth the 400 moon bux

Zero faulting Inferno II is my greatest gaming accomplishment ever. Still have two more levels to get 0 faults on....

When the Big Pack releases, anyone who wants to add me to pad their leaderboards, feel free!

gamertag: TRUTony

Does it release tonight at 2am pacific or am I just wasting my time by staying up tonight?

I can't wait for this pack!!!

hahaha I merely finished Inferno II last night and it was still my greatest gaming accomplishment ever. 400+ faults, 26ish minutes.

I once had the number 5 time on the first hard track (about a month after release) and it's all the way down to #200 now :(

Bought the DLC this morning before work and...I was late for work. :D

Played the first new extreme track and got about 75% through before I had to quit and hit the road. So far it was a little on the easy side of extreme which is ok with me. Also tried the new hill climb and delivery tracks, both very good. Played the first new medium track too which is pretty straight forward and then another where you ride the track on big monster trucks rolling down hills. :)

I would have paid $60 for this game in August and I got all this for $15?! (I got it on Amazon day one when it was only $10 there!)

Need some advice on what to get as I haven't played Trials yet. Steam has Trials 2 on sale for $4.99. Should I just get that or also get the original on XBLA? Now sure how different it is playing on a computer compared to the console. I'm not in a hurry to play it and will wait for a deal (like the Shadowcomplex deal) due to my backlog.

They are both similar, but I personally dislike Trials 2 PC. The physics feel overly heavy like I am on Jupiter or something, and the game doesn't have as much polish as the XBLA version. I believe it is a manner of personal opinion. Since you are in no hurry to play either game, I would suggest getting the Steam version since it is cheaper.

edit: And I am 50 points away from being able to afford the Big Pack. F U and your points system, MS. >:o

Wait...what? So which one do you like? Which one feels too heavy? Which doesn't have as much polish?

Woops. I done made a mistake!

I prefer Trials HD waaay more than the PC version, but I personally think it is a manner of personal opinion.

Thanks Archie, I'll go ahead and get the Steam version and see if there is a demo on XLBA for the original.

FYI, Trials HD is not the "original", it is the newest Trials game (aka the sequel to Trials and Trials 2). Trials HD is generally (unanimously?) considered the superior game.

i have the same problem, i'm waiting 2 days to see if i get any points cards for x-mas, otherwise i'll have to fork over the $6.25

Beat the 2nd new extreme track (diabolic?) on my first try with 225 faults. Didn't think I would be able to beat a new extreme track on the first time around. Haven't tried the 2nd one yet. Played through a lot of the med and hard tracks also. I really like how the tracks have a lot of alternate options and they seem to be longer and more technical. This is easily THE BEST DLC OF THIS GENERATION. Yeah, I'll yet it out.

Wow, I'm pretty damn jealous of you guys right now. I was going to play some more dragon age or L4D2 when I got home, but I seriously doubt I'll be able to resist.

Levels are great so far, but its amazing how your skills diminish after just a month of not playing. Gonna take a while to get back in the swing of things.

You can buy 400 points on the zune marketplace. Probly accessable online without the client.

Points work anywhere obviously. Its odd that the point buying scheme is different on both

Even if you are just a Medium/Hard level player there is still plenty in this DLC, IMO.

I suck at Extreme (only ever finished 1 track!), but all the Med and Hard stuff in the DLC is great fun, and so different to the levels that were included in the game.

Only annoying thing is I had to finish one of the tournaments, as I didn't have the donkey bike, and one of the new Hard levels requires it.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I guess I'll still get the Steam version and eventually upgrade to the 360 one.

There's an official donkey bike track? Awesome.

So I'm doing a little more research after finding out Trials HD on XBLA is the sequel to Trials2 on PC...so where is the original? I didn't see anything about it on the developer's website.

Edit: Ahh, nevermind. After a little more digging I finally found it.

Quick question. On the first new track on medium if you take the upper route to you get to a ramp that jumps into a fence and two exploding barrels below. No matter what I did I couldn't leap over the fence and since the leadboard ghosts all took the bottom path I have no clue how you actually are supposed to pass that??

It is. I bought the Trails DLC this morning on zune.com and bough the dlc on xbox.com. Never had to even turn on the Xbox. Until right now. To play it :)

Also, count me in the camp that prefers Trials HD to Trials 2. I got 2 from LAST year's Steam sale for 2.50 and loved it.. but after playing HD and going back to 2... it's like the difference between SMB1 and SMB3.

Ok, how the heck do you beat this part. 4th to last level of the new batch on advanced. If you've played the level you'd recognize this part:

You can either take the top route (which I can't reach with my skills)
The middle route is IMPOSSIBLE because it's a downslope and you can't hit the checkpoint
The bottom route has a slope -> barrel -> short ramp which isn't enough for me to make it over most of the time. I made it once on accident and then died right after.

^^^^On the middle route, when you go down the slope and hit that inverted piece of wood on the middle "island" (as seen in your 2nd pic), do a backflip back onto the slope, jump the gap again only this time your momentum will be different allowing you to land with your back wheel allowing you to get up that hill. That's how I did it anyway. Hope it made sense.

Yeah, if somone is getting both games then I would advice playing Trials 2 first. I just know that going from HD to 2 is very difficult. The better physics and controls in HD make it a much more pleasant game to play.

You can't pass it. From that point, you're supposed to try and bail over the fence into one of the crates which unlocks a new Achievement.

Aaaaah!

I too spent 15 minutes trying to jump that fence last night!

Loving the 'Big Pack' so far. Sadly I've only had time to do the medium tracks so far.

Loads of variation in the tracks. The space track with no gravity's interesting, and the donkey track is pretty sweet, but completely different. I love the giant fans- so much fun hovering over giant chasms. :D

Ohhh man, 1 Bit Trip (The NES Excitebike style level) is so awesome! :D

Messes with my eyes- once it's done i've always got to refocus a bit. :lol

Go REALLY slow down this ramp as the sign suggests. When you get near the bottom of it pull back and gun it (or don't pull back if you end up flipping onto your back doing that) and that should plop you up onto that hanging checkpoint. Eventually.

That middle route was the one I took. You can try the quick back-forwards lunge when you gun it onto the checkpoint platform. I think I did something like that.

.

Make the initail jump very slowly so you're jsut over the first part. then stop the bike on the first part of the downward slope. Load it up by leaning forward and then leaning back while you give it full throttle. As soon the bike starts to wheelie lean forward and then back again while holding full throttle. Do a few < > with the left stick to get more distance mid air.

I've only played through the new Medium tracks and the first few Hard ones, but so far, the Big Pack is pretty awesome. A lot of the new Medium tracks emphasize speed and flow wonderfully, which is something I think many of the original tracks lacked.

My skills have definitely deteriorated but I'm slowly getting the hang of it again.

Every time I choose the mode where I have to break as many bones as possible my 360 freezes. Bought the Big Pack yesterday and it worked. Now it doesn't. Wtf!

Edit:

Apparently I'm not the only one:

Redlynx Board

I don't like that one of the new advanced tracks is only playable with a locked bike that requires you to gold medal an easy tournament to get. Sure it's easy, but I can't do multiple tracks without faulting at least a few times so I can't get the back and that means I can't even try the track.

My only complaint about the pack. Oh and I think the last 2 hard levels should have been in the inferno set. I beat all the original hard levels but I can't even get a few checkpoints in on either of these guys.

Otherwise there are some great levels here. Left me wanting for more. Kinda tempted to pick up Trials 2 on PC to get more official tracks and tons of user made ones.

I have to admit I was a little downed that the big pack was only 8 megs. That means, it's basically a pack of custom edited tracks by the developers instead of tracks with all new assets. But, I have to say the quality of the tracks is high and 8-bit trip is well, a trip. Worth the 5 bucks.

A free download of the best of user made tracks, submitted to and hand picked by the developers. That would be awesome fan service and I hope the developers are reading (probably not).

One more observation. When the patch went live, the number of people who faultlessed the one tournament skyrocketed. Previously, there were about 50 gamertags who had achieved it, which and I think someone else posted this statistic but that accounts for less than .01 percent of the people who own the game (roughly 50/500,000).

1 tenth of a percent!!!

so I started checking out the new skill games today, my first try on the new ski jump i placed at 1575 on the leaderboard...on my fifth attempt I hit the leaderboard at 385...gamertag is Godfather360

any other GAF-ers on this leaderboard?

also I know that the way custom track sharing sucks and you have to add people who are really good at making them to download them, any suggestions or anyone here that is pretty good at this?

Well, there are 50 new track editor objects. But they're smart when it comes to storing those objects as well as the tracks, since they don't want you to have any loading times when you're in the game (that's why everything is instant).

found a bug, when trying to look at replays from the Flugtag leaderboard you get that person's most recent attempt not their leaderboard one
