Both of those gifs look bad. One looks like a bad generic version of Zelda, and the other is just generic all around.
To enthusiasts like us maybe, but to the casual consumer, they'll look at the pricetags first.
I'd say the same. They're doing their own thing.
I don't feel like the two are in 'direct' competition.
Nintendo is mainly in a struggle with itself at this point.
Yikes.
I don't think Reggie will be able to look fans straight in the face after this.
That Zelda footage is much more impressive. That being the case, it is not an actual game yet so we shall see.
i don't like all of these assumptions you're making, they're always wrong prior to console release. i'm talking incredibly short-term here, like up until the Holiday of '13.
Agreed. The Zelda footage doesn't have that stupid fucking cut-off. The sparks coming off his shield are accurate. I don't even know where that Dragon slobber is supposed to be going. The lighting is also done far better in the Zelda demo - none of that excess in the Dragon demo which I guess convinces people that it's "next gen". Yea, that's a gorgeous Dragon model. Stunning. But the entire thing is sloppy.
But nobody really cares that much about the touchpad controller. And considering that both MS and Sony are going to probably have Apps, for Windows Phones and tablets, Android and IOS that will replicate that one advantage makes it a mute point. And those devices will be much more capable and most people already own them.
Plus fantastic games such as Mass Effect 3,

Watch Dogs was a win for Wii U, but you have to wonder how ugly it will look and run compared to its fellows on the other systems. It may turn out embarrassing.
Nintendo's problem is that they don't have any must have games.
The next zelda is probably 2-3 years away
If by itself you mean superior consoles with superior technology that will make Wii U performance and graphics dated in two years times, then of course.
I agree. The giant spider has like, 8 limbs being rendered with the Dragon has just 4 and some stubby wings. Also, everything is more uniformly lit, as if there is more light in the room...so there is more lighting. Link looks like he's been hand modeled with care, while the knight or what have you looks like a lazy scan of an actor in armor.
Care to elaborate on that?
I mean, if he can't possibly explain if Wii U will ever have anything comparable to this:

Then he's right.

It's like a greatest hits of comedy one post after the other.
Comparable graphics wise? No. But I don't think Nintendo have ever implied they would compete graphically.
Reggie said Black Ops 2 looks vastly superior on Wii U. He has no problem lying to your face.
Who the fuck ever said that wii u will get ports from ps4 or xbox 720? Its no reason to fling that shit around when even nintendo is aware of this. Makes no sense to even bring it up. The console will live and breath off of nintendo offerings and third party exclusive support. Period.I mean, if he can't possibly explain why Wii U will likely never have anything comparable to this:

I keep seeing people say "There are no games." You got Mass Effect 3, AC3, Call of Duty, Zombie U, and Darksiders 2 at launch. If I was simply a Nintendo fan and had not experienced those games in the past, that would seem super compelling to me.

For some reason I felt better about my Wii U after the conference.
Not that I didn't like the show though. There will be awesome games on PS4, just like it happened with PS3.
These two will be a good combo this gen.
It looked like a generic shooter with the same old boring gameplay and it looked very scripted. Yes, the graphics look great, but it was very boring. Same shit, new coat.
It's in exactly the same position it was before: Once they drop the price and get some games out there, it will start selling.

I dont really see where the real creative genius is in that gif anyways. To imagine what you see in it, all youd need is to take some actual video footage of a helicopter flying above a city, then rebuild something similar but add some futuristic looking modifications to some of the buildings. Other than the brute hours and manpower to finish it, it is completely without creative genius. These people should be well beyond this level of creative talent since they are obviously college graduates and somewhat high up in their field. I find what is in that gif to be fairly bland and even predictable. Im not being shown anything i havent seen before, or anything my imagination couldnt come up with ten times more vividly on its own. Basically its nothing. I keep hearing about how impressive next gen is going to be but how come no one ever cares about better games, or better music, or better creative brilliance? All you hear about are better graphics and it seems like by better graphics everyone just means more polygons and some slightly more sophisticated lighting. Where are the better character designs? Better stories? Better more original worlds? Technology and RAM you can buy, i guess creative genius you cant.
The same basically, it needs Nintendo first-party games and it will be fine.

Graphics have never been Nintendo's focus, not even when they had better visuals than Sony on the GC/N64.
