I would argue that Sony in particular still released some of the big boys the same year that the PS4 debuted, just like they did with the PS3 transition, so it's a bit unfair to say "ZOMG there's nothing out!"
Even then, TLOU, Resogun, Infamous were all great. KZ is simply great to look at. Comparing 1 year of software vs 2 (especially when Wii support went off a cliff) is disingenuous.
And given what around the corner, this won't really be any point at all over the coming months.
The nuance of NG is that it's basically a 1 player fighting game. Ryu's cues are subtle (headturn, etc) but they're there, and really, the only beat em up/action games that's given me the feeling of being a badass
where the entire game is at my mercy are this one, DMC:SE and God of War.
The first two do it via gameplay and offering weapons and styles to master, the latter does it through story and mystical power items--really mastering them leads to
shit like this.
For me, Bayonetta doesn't accomplish what either of those games do. And as a bonus, all of those series are more popular. It's niche for a reason, and not exactly a minority opinion.
I wouldn't be so sure of that. Past the hyperbole in the post, I find it humorous that everything you said can applied to everything, except maybe TI-82 games.
All of the consoles use a form of DRM.
All games have patches/updates
Not all games have a season pass
Most games have DLC (like Mario Kart)
Microtransactions? DOTA 2, LoL, Warframe, Hearthstone, TF2, etc are all great games.
F2P? These are on the WiiU.
I get the feeling of being looked at as basically a wallet; and no one should really feel like that, you spend based on the fun you're having and expect to have; but a lot of those complaints apply to more than one platform or publisher.
