Would be funny if it actually comes out on Wii U before PS3.
But I don't think releasing a MMORPG at launch is a good idea.
There's no install base, the servers are going to be completely empty.
That said, the Wii U controller would be perfect for that kind of games.
Thanks. Well, the game should be "rebooted" this year so why not...ShockingAlberto heard things.
I'm pretty sure that there'll be cross platform play, just like FFXI.
This thread has almost 6000 posts already...
Does anyone think that maybe Nintendo has shown their hand a bit early (in regards to actual games)? I mean for 3DS, there's Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing that we've known about for ages. Now we know about NSMB2 plus with all the hints, we know that a 3DS Zelda game will most likely be there too. And then we've had Pikmin 3 , Smash Bros and Super Mario Bros announced for WiiU. How much room does that leave for surprises?.
Makes me laugh when people say the thread is slowing down.
It's still a crazy rate of posts to be fair, especially when you consider how little ACTUAL information is available.
E3 is going to be crazy. Cant wait.

I'm hoping for a 2010 E3 type showing with game after game after game announced (including some great surprises), rather than a 2011 E3 type show.
Man, Nintendo's 2010 E3 was so awesome...
Also, I know this is old, but I just remembered it and thought how awesome it would be if true, given how awesome I think StreetPass stuff is on 3DS.

I don't think so, especially as far as the Wii U is concerned. Remember that Smash Bros likely won't appear for a while, and Pikmin 3, Lego City Stories, and a Mario game (not necessarily NSMB) are the only other Nintendo published U games we know of. They'll have at least 10 first party games there, I would guess, so there will definitely be some surprises.
Bit. Trip. Runner 2 on Wii U is pretty much all but confirmed at this point. Official announcement will come at E3, I guess.
What is ShcokingAlberto's sources?
It's not like I don't trust him or anything, but throwing something like that out is just confusing.
What is ShcokingAlberto's sources?
Alan Rickman tells him things, and he distills that knowledge down to us.
Like a fine bottled water, Alberto's source is a pristine mountain spring.
Read that in the WarioWare: Smooth Moves instructor's voice.
From now on, that is how I shall imagine your posts are said.

NOW IT'S IN 2.5D !!System seller.
NOW IT'S IN 2.5D !!
Seriuosly. Why did they change the style in this way? "2" means more power, and more power deserves 2.5D instead of 8bit?
The build is early, but I actually think it looks quite nice. Some nice animation touches, and its sure to get a lot better later on.
This thread is really going fast...not easy to follow all the time!!
Anyhow has someone posted the Interview with Mr. Sweeny (EPIC) about the UE4??
Now that he has not mentioned any console name the whole damn internet reads into his interview that the engine is not comeing to WiiU.
Technically none of the consoles is announced (if u need a specific date for that)...
Ahhhh NintendoGAF help me plz, clear my mind!!
Yeah, there's a whole thread on the interview.
I'm going to be honest...I hate how it looks.
I really really REALLY don't think we will see UE4 on Wii U. I just can't envision a situation where Epic would develop an engine that couldn't possibly run on current consoles, but can run on Wii U - I'm not one of these morons who thinks Wii U is no more powerful than current gen, but I'm realistic enough to believe it will only be slightly more powerful (e.g, current engines but at a better framerate/ few more effects than PS360, or the same but with a fully rendered scene on the pad as well). I mean, if UE4 juuuuust about runs on Wii U, I can see how it could be incompatible with current gen yet be compatible with Wii U... but I just don't see it. Ho hum.

"Quite a bit" can mean many things. My mid-range laptop from over a year ago is "quite a bit" more powerful than PS3/ 360, but I'd be barmy to expect it to run UE4 games.Because the Wii U will have a modern feature set and be quite a bit more powerful than the PS3/360.
Not sure what's so hard to understand about this.

I guess they just wanted to do something different. I always thought Commander Video was on some kind of journey through the generations - it looks like they skipped a few.

I don't know much about UE3 on Iphone4, but I know that there are no ports of UE3 games from 360 and PS3. So maybe by that logic, the Wii U could handle a special paired-down of UE4 that can handle Infinity-blade sized environments compared to PS4 and 720's huge Gears of War 4 type titles. If we're being speculative here.Ok, here.
I'll simplify it a bit.
The 360 is a lot more powerful than the iPhone 4, yes?
Yet, the iPhone4 can run UE3.
It's all about feature sets. The Wii U should have the proper feature set to handle UE4. Add to that that it will have a lot of things going for it that the PS3/360 won't (more RAM, more efficient CPU, richer GPU, more eDRAM yadda yadda).
Because power actually isn't the most important thing when it comes to running an engine. Feature set matters. The iPhone 4 doesn't really blow the Wii away in terms of raw power, yet it can run UE3. The reason? The GPU in the iPhone 4 has capabilities that the GameCube/Wii GPU doesn't have. The same principle would apply here.I really really REALLY don't think we will see UE4 on Wii U. Why are people convinced WiiU is only slightly more power than current gen?

Unless UE4 isn't coming to PCs and phones/tablets, it has to scale. Epic would be out of their minds to make an engine that can run on PCs, but only high-end ones. Who would want that?I don't know much about UE3 on Iphone4, but I know that there are no ports of UE3 games from 360 and PS3. I understand the feature sets thing, but again, my year-old laptop likely has comparable feature sets to the Wii U. It has an i7 processor, 6GB of RAM, what at the time was the among the best mobile (and therefore small and power-effective, like the Wii U) graphic chipsets. I expect the Wii U to manage to run current gen games with a nice boost, just as my laptop does compared to console versions of multiformat titles. And I'll be happy with that. But based on all of Epic's comments regarding 'future systems', and how UE3 rather than UE4 is what they see as a 'scalable' solution going forwards, and finally the fact that Samaritan barely runs on current PC hardware and UE4 will be a leap above that - I just don't see UE4 running on anything launching in the next few months (except maybe $600+ graphics cards...)
What is your definition of 'only slightly more power'? To me, if Wii U is even 2-3 times 360 on the bullshit scale, it's slightly more powerful, because of diminishing returns. It's isn't meant to be a disparaging comment. I'd be happy with that boost. But it still wouldn't put it in the same league as medium-to-high end PCs already on the market, nor do I think it is realistic to expect Sony and Microsoft to bring out new machines in that range. That's all.Why are people convinced WiiU is only slightly more power than current gen?
I'm going to be honest...I hate how it looks.
When UE3 launched, old PCs couldn't handle it. The tech will catch up. By the time UE4 games are actually coming out - which probably won't be for a while seeing as the engine hasn't even been seen in public yet, and huge UE3 games like Bioshock infinite are still on the horizon - it won't just be the super-rich who can afford a PC to play them. And while I expect UE4 on phones and tablets eventually, there are only a handful of games on phones and tablets now which use UE3 (and what, one game on Vita I think). Even though mobile tech is moving fast, I expect UE3 will be the main focus for Epic on those platforms for the next couple of years. If those platforms could already handle UE3 brilliantly, we would see a lot of quick ports of PC/ console UE3 titles on those platforms (and I think we will in a few months time).Unless UE4 isn't coming to PCs and phones/tablets, it has to scale. Epic would be out of their minds to make an engine that can run on PCs, but only high-end ones. Who would want that?
Also, Samaritan is a tech demo, not an engine. It won't be the baseline.
