However CD Projekt might not even bring Triss for Witcher 3 and focus only on Yen.
No way that happens. The reason Shani was completely dropped was most likely because the story they want to tell about Yen and Geralt only works if you're with Triss, since she's got the strong connection to both of them.

The game is amazing. Immersion and graphics are insane.

Two problems though:

1. The tearing is pretty bad. :/ If you use vsync the game as a bad delay, especially mouse lag.

2. I have a hard time with this game. It's very overwhelming. Especially the fighting so far is very hard (on normal). I get owned pretty much all the time and I can only win by glitching the fights. Meaning for example finding the border where the enemy is going back and fight him beyond this border. It's kinda bad that this works anyway because it really breaks immersion. Any tips for a noob?

1. Use triple buffering. (D3DOverrider)

2. Roll and use Quen. Effectively use your signs/magic. Use traps (yrden) in tight corridors/caves. The exploding trap is really useful.

Upgrade your roll to do 200% distance ASAP.

Do you use Quen at all? It was my best friend in battle. Overall the combat in the game was not very good though. It just didn't feel very fluid. I was using a gamepad not sure if that makes a difference.

1. TB does nothing sadly. Mouse lag is there as soon some sort of Vsync is activated. And it's a real hefty mouselag to begin with. Whole game feels way less responsive with vsync. And I'm not too sensible with that normally, playing all my shooters with vsync on.

I never used quen so far. Only that fire spell.

This game was getting some nice props in this weeks weekend confirmed. I dont know who it was (im pretty new to the show yet) but he seemed to really enjoy it. Looking forward to Garnetts impressions once he starts it.

Playing this game again and man I forgot how awesome this is. And the graphics are still INCREDIBLE both from a technical and artistic standpoint. I still stand that the graphics are so good that this should be considered a next-generation game.

Anyway how can I check which version I have?

I'm worried that I may not have version 2.0.

When I check my downloadable content I get this:

Readme file mentions the version 2.0. Also the main menu has 'Arena' option added in 2.0.

Just started my third playtrough at Dark difficulty. It's great and graphics still blow me away.

I've done nothing with my life except eat and fap

have you completed the tutorial? or it doesn't show up in the menu?

Yeah, played it. And I think I unterstood now what is meant by "quen and roll". That works pretty fine, just cleared the hospital in the woods. Nice quest btw.

So the only annoying thing left is the tearing or mouse lag. :/ I think I'll go for the tearing...pitty though.

It's mainly noticable in the menus, yeah. In Game I'm not sure, the game doesn't feel too responsive with or without vsync I guess. It's gone in the menues without vsync. Already applied the user.ini fix, didn't help.

So yeah this confirms that I don't have version 2.0.

But the patcher claims I don't have the latest version.

Any resolutions to this?

Also if I do figure it out do I have to restart my current game?

So I am stalled in playing the origional Witcher in Chapter 3. I like the story but feel the game is being drawn out for no reason at all and get bored. Is it really best to finish the origional since you make choices that effect the 2nd one, or can you just look up the story online and move along?

I just look TW1 up and started with TW2. No problems so far, though the game is pretty overwhelming...it's just a lot of content. But I think it's more about the characters (character driven) than about the actual world so it's fine. Witcher is a cool guy.

You can indeed look up the story online but you aren't far too off from finishing it. (IIRC)

So I figured it out. I just had to reinstall the game.

Anyway now that I have version 2.1.

but it says this in the bottom:

Is that normal? The whole "register online text on the bottom?

Finally. Do I have to restart my current game for the changes (new quests and what not) to take effect? Or will they be in my current game?

Can someone tell me what the Lightning symbol underneath my health meter means? It's slowly building to a full meter and I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but I'm thinking bad.

Just fought that giant monster in the woods and OMG...DAT SETTING, DAT GRAPHICS, DAT IMMERSION. What a game. Shame on the engine, but WHAT A GAME.

EDIT:

Woah, framerate taks a hit when it rains...it's beautiful though.

Man, I just learned about the The Walls Have Ears quest wasn't really timed as I thought so it went into the resolution part only because I went back. But then still did all the quests related to it afterwards. What balls.

So yeah I'm in
Flotsam
but there's supposedly a town in the north that I can get to but I don't know how to get to it. I assume I have to take a bridge but the only one I can find is the one that goes to
the bandits hideout
and that is only one way in, one way out. Am I missing something?

Ended up doing a marathon and beating it today. Game is amazing, outside of the game chugging hard when I still had Cat potion in effect during the big battle in chapter 2 the game was smooth on my modest rig. Glad to see the final boss battles were more manageable than chap 1 that fight was unfair. But it was only fine because of how great Quen is. Would not had survived without it.

Game is fucking awesome, has to be said again. Every chapter was great and new and never slowed down the pacing. And maxing out the combat tree makes you so gdlk, I didnt really bother with defense mostly after i got the tree maxed. Wonder how a max alchemy or magic would be but the combat was really fun and rewarding by the end. Such a shame this got ignored by the press at large becuase this is definitely a top 3 game of last year for me.

Edit: I will say the game doles out exp very unevenly, by the end of chapter 2 the game started handing out 1000-2000+ xp constantly and was allocating skill points way faster than chap 1 ever did. Whcih is part of the reason why the last part was way easier and the beginning was fairly difficult but it's a minor quibble.

Pretty sure there's no other town (that I know of anyway).

Yeah. I can't believe a video game journalist would opt not to play this game because it's on PC or any other reason, it's easily a GOTY contender.

It's beautiful, no question, but I would've preferred better framerates and responsiveness. Mouse lag is pretty bad. Also some of the stylistic choices are rather weird. Like the sharpen filter and the high contrast.

But yeah, when it looks great, it looks GREAT. And overall it's just an amazin experience.

The framerate is INCREDIBLE for a game with such graphical fidelity. I'm not sure how you can have that viewpoint.

No, it isn't my PC. It's how the engine works. :)

There was that frame skipping fix posted in the performance thread. Maybe check that out:

This is the ultimate Frame skipping fix:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8EO4GKZL

I had frame skipping on two systems, ATI and Nividia. ATI was more severe but with Nvidia it's also there. The fix above works 100%. Game is much smoother after this. Frame skipping means that if the game is scrolling (camera turns around or you ar erunning around) the game engine makes little "jumps". It's horrible and completly destroys the beauty of TW2 imo.

Read this:

http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/22972-absolutly-massive-frame-skipping/
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=430456&page=86

For the most part, I think TW2 runs better than the first game. It could use some tweaking here and there to minimize/eliminate some of the issues but Im pretty happy with what they did with it. No load times every 10 seconds like the first game!!

EDIT: An I just realized that Thrakier is the guy who posted the framerate skip fix. Oh well. Not editing it out in case someone else is interested.

My only problem is waiting 3 years for The Witcher 3 :_(
This x1000

Sad part is that Im so ready for another Witcher game but I wont get one for a long ass time. Maybe since they arent designing a new engine this time around, they can get a sequel out to us faster.

Think about it. Now that they've already got a great looking engine, they can focus on creating more content, optimising the engine and making a much better game!

Still miss Tomasz Gop though. :(

Hopefully they do some meaty DLC/Expansion. If i remember correctly they talked about doing something like that, but we haven't really heard anything from them recently. I wonder if plans have changed.

Playing my third playtrough... This game is just amazing, still. Playing at dark difficulty and i don't really find this game very challenging. First time i died was at first boss fight. I think they have made the beginning easier with 2.0, but hopefully it gets a bit harder as game goes on, unlike at normal difficulty, which gets dumb easy.

Beginning of chapter 2 when you escort this guy and all that stuff happens around you my framerate dropped down to low 25 sometimes. Is that supposed to happen? Also in Philias HQ I get a bad framerate when I look at her bed... o_O Other than that I have solid 45 to 50 in the town. 560TI @9o0mhz and i52500k @4.3...

When I run around it's like in some areas (f.e. if there is a lot of grass though it wasn't that noticable in the floatsam forest but very noticable in some areas of chapter) there is an invisible line or shadow which I'm moving in front of me...some meters in front of Geralt. It's a bit distracting TBH. I think it could be related to the LOD but that is already set to max, as is the Texture thing. Any ideas? Did you guys notice this as well?
