Yeah I'm not really getting why people are upset. Not planning to develop special graphical features is not equal to parity. Getting stuff like higher resolution and framerates from superior hardware does not really need any specific planning.
I wonder if this was an honest mistake by OP (in which case they are not very bright) or whether OP was deliberately trying to stir shit up, in which case I would say they failed, as not a lot of people ITT seem to have taken the bait.
I'm sure they will. Granted, Witcher 3 looks much better in motion. And is almost comically massive so there will have to be some visual compromises on console. Those jaggies. Hope they figure out what AA solution they want to use soon.
Aren't these guys known for pushing hardware? Embarrassing.
Yeh, PC hardware.
Game development is full of tradeoffs. Sorry. That's just how it works. And I love the conspiracy theory that "they're just doing it so that the other console doesn't get their feelings hurt." That is such a ridiculous notion. People like you need to understand that not every multiplatform dev is gonna spend extra time on one version or another unless money is involved in the development for exclusive content like the Destiny dlc. They also didn't add voice commands for all of the dialogue for kinect players. Is that also intentionally holding something back so that the other players don't get their poor feelings hurt? They don't need all the time in the world. They have a PC version that will have all the bells and whistles, and a PS4 with so much headroom that it can effortlessly produce a superior result without a massive amount of extra work.
I am buying it for the visuals. And I am buying it for the gameplay. The problem with people like you is you think there needs to be some trade off, or that one element must inherently be less important than the other. And you go around trying to justify shitty decisions in the most ridiculous way, simply because it's impossible for you to admit the only reason parity exists in this case is because they're intentionally holding back on making a superior product so that the other console gamers don't have their feelings hurt.
There's no other justification for it. I play games, not consoles. And I demand the best possible experience from my consoles, devs who choose not to do not get my money.
I will support the version they release which has no sacrifices, my PC.(
Nice, let's everyone willfully misunderstand what's being said here. I mean, c'mon, no one outside of the first party studios is going to be doing a lot of in-depth, custom work on the respective platforms.

Do you know what kind of hardware the PS4 has? Take a guess.
Well to be fair if the X1 is EXACT same as PS4 version something went horribly wrong.
Not aiming to develop special graphical features is not equal to parity. Getting stuff like higher resolution and framerates from superior hardware does not really need any large amount of effort.

1.Game development is not anywhere near as simple as you are making it out to be. You're acting like they can just development the pc version at ultra settings, click a few buttons to lower the effects, and then press a "port to console" button and be done with it. There's also not such a massive gap in the consoles that two versions of the same game need to look drastically different from one another or that one should have more time dedicated to getting more special effects. It's not "in-depth custom work."
Jesus, if you don't actually understand the realities of the development environments, why even post? it would take no time at all to add extra flourishes into the PS4 version, a pittance compared to the good will they will get. They already have a PC version that has all the extra flourishes in it, and part of the reason PS4's architecture has been so beneficial to developers is in the ease of porting from PC and the relative simplicity of its development environment, which has been called massively superior to XBO. Games take much less time to get up to snuff than they do on XBO, for example. They could have used that extra time to put in the extra bells and whistles that gamers have a right to demand for the consoles they own.
Why oh why do we keep making excuses when a company decides to shank one group of gamers over another? There's no benefit to you for this. There's no benefit to me. There's no benefit to any consumer. Xbox One owners were always going to get the game at a certain level due to the platform's deficiencies, nobody can change that. What they CAN change is the beauty of their experience on PS4, and it would be the easiest thing in the world.
What in the bloody blue hell are you talking about? Nothing is being traded off for this. They are literally simply choosing not to add extremely simple extra visual flourishes on the massively superior and easy development environment on PS4 for no reason other than to give Xbox One owners the feeling of parity. Money IS involved. Microsoft IS paying them, it's a marketing cooperation.
Hey you're back!!Good to see CD Projekt respecting my rights as a consumer.
If only more developers were willing to do the same....
Witcher 3 on consoles, parity mandatory...?

“We always want to provide the best possible experience to all our gamers regardless of the platform and so we are not aiming to develop special graphical features for any of them,” Balazs Torok, Lead Engine Programmer said to GamingBolt."
What does that mean ? You guys are not optimizing your console versions of the game ?

It means there are no special features for the PS4 or Xbox One. Means the game will play the same on each platform, nothing that will make the game completely different on either of the platforms.
Antialiasing, resolution, textures, etc. do no come under "Special Features".
A special feature would be if PS4 uses a different lighting system that isn't found anywhere else, that doesn't usually happen in any game.
Midrange.
Yeah, MS hard earned cash in the work. Improving the aa quality or resolution shouldn't be a problem, if I don't see any kind of improvement then I boycotting this.

2.Money is involved in the development of exclusive content. Not in the lack of visuals for a different console.
Witcher 3 devs said:We’ll not deliver exclusive content to any of the platforms, nor will we artificially delay release of the game on any of the platforms because somebody’s paying us money for that. It’s definitely against our values. We are not doing that.”
And yet again, many people look foolish for overreacting. Here's what sidspyker, moderator of W3 forums answered to me a few minutes ago :

Hey you're back!!
As expected. PS4 is going to have higher res, better fps, AA, texture detail and no AF.Here's what sidspyker, moderator of W3 forums answered to me a few minutes ago :

If the statement wasn't clear, then its even more silly to jump to conclusions. If they were that clear in the original statement, there would be no problem. This is a good example of poor PR.
That's not what was said, either. As expected. PS4 is going to have higher res, better fps, AA, texture detail and no AF.
Refreshed and ready for the fight.
justsomeguy said:What evidence do you have that there are special effects on the PC version that won't be ported onto the PS4?
The only thing you can infer from that cdp article is that they won't be creating PS4-only effects, not that they won't be bringing all possible PC effects over (which, hell, might actually include enabling some special GPGPU stuff they're doing for PC that they enable for PS4 and not Xbox).
And yet again, many people look foolish for overreacting.
Why no AF?As expected. PS4 is going to have higher res, better fps, AA, texture detail and no AF.
And so beings the gimped future of multiplat PS4 games due to Microsoft being short sighted and cheap.
As expected. PS4 is going to have higher res, better fps, AA, texture detail and no AF.

Yes, get it on PC and you'll find out why.Aren't these guys known for pushing hardware? Embarrassing.
Why no AF?
But that's not what's happening.I don't blame them.
People should outrage if any Dev tries parity bs.
They're working to give everyone the same consistent experience. What you are asking for, is things like thisAnd I am not saying development is "simple." I am saying that PS4's development environment is massively superior to its competitors, and the time it would take to implement superior visual flourishes is literally a pittance compared to the good will they would get in return, because they already have a PC version with those visual flourishes implemented which they can (and are) porting over. This is a matter of them actively choosing not to add in a few more visual flourishes. I can assure you it would not have even taken more than a few days to add in some simple additional visual flourishes. I talk to actual developers working on XBO and PS4 games all the time, and you can read GAF and the many developers who post here for more. It's no secret.
This thread remains instructive because now we can see how many people want to make excuses for this sort of shitty practice. Thankfully, Witcher 3 devs know better
But that's not what's happening.
I'm really not sure if that's a serious question or not! That system is well more powerful than either XB1 or the PS4.really not sure if i should go XB1 or PC for this...i can run witcher 2 at full everything at 1080P fine (R9 290 4GB, Core i7 3.2Ghz, 12GB RAM) would that be enough for witcher 3 or should i get it on xbox one?
So you don't blame people for overreacting before anything was clarified?I know that know but I don't blame people for being outrage before the clarification.
welcome back daaarling. Ready for some Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive? I am going to park my ass at my friends house when Sunset Overdrive comes out lol
Blame Lara Croft.Fuck the amount of straw grasping on this forum is painful to watch.
That doesn't even make sense
"We always want to provide the best possible experience to all our gamers regardless of the platform and so we are not aiming to develop special graphical features for any of them,” Balazs Torok, Lead Engine Programmer said to GamingBolt."
=
"We always want to provide the best possible experience to all gamers, except the gamers that are on the more powerful console, because we don't want to hurt the feelings of Xbox One owners."
Absurdity. Even still, watch the Digital Foundry comparisons and neoGAF comparisons when it comes out and see what the truth is.
This has got to be a joke. This PC is about 3 times more powerful than PS4.really not sure if i should go XB1 or PC for this...i can run witcher 2 at full everything at 1080P fine (R9 290 4GB, Core i7 3.2Ghz, 12GB RAM) would that be enough for witcher 3 or should i get it on xbox one?
