The Witcher devs to make a Cyberpunk 2020 game

So basically...

I for one, welcome our new gods CD projekt for giving us cyberpunk fanatics what we have prayed and wished for, for ages.

I'll buy ten copies on day one!!

That's it folks: after years of genre dumbification there's finally a hard-fucking-core P&P-like Cyberpunk game in the making.

My monies, take all of them.

Really interested to see what these Advanced RPG mechanics based off Pen and Paper RPG is all about. If that means dice rolling and numbers, they can count me out.

Edit: I also hope they idea of "Mature" is not just Cyber-Ploughing Cyber-wenches.

Hearing the words mature, realistic and brutal in the same sentence would usually turn me off a game, but since it's Cd Projekt I'll give them a pass. Looking forward to hearing more.

I think with Mature they were more referring to the level of character building and story content.

Point Number 3 makes me happy. CDPR would really do well developing a game with an existing RPG system in place. Character progression in TW2 is probably one of the worst aspects of the game, so hopefully they pay attention and learn from pure P&P goodness.

Also got a new wallpaper :)

Fucking 2013 man.

Nice! I have nothing but respect for CDPR folks. I'm a huge fan of both TW 1 & 2.

Not a single screenshot or video though, so it wont kill E3 at all. And personally, I can't get super hyped with just artwork and text. Hyped, sure, but i need more than that!

Well, you were hyped for Mass Effect 3 when you had plenty of screenshots and videos and look what it got you. It's Cyberpunk, made by CD Projekt. If you're not choking on excitement yet, I don't know what to tell you.

(I'm not 100% serious)

never played the witcher, and dont care to, but i understand it was a pretty great title according to GAF (as a whole). merging a proven developer with a super awesome IP like cyberpunk has me more than just a little excited.

also, cyberpunk is vastly superior to shadowrun.

I'm seriously underhyped. Cyberpunk was old hat 20 years ago, the new game based on a friggen pen & paper RPG makes it sound like it's going to have all the cyberpunk cliches and nothing fresh. The introduction by the guy who made and how it started just confirmed all my fears.

I think CD Project can save this project from its source material, but I wish the license had a better pedigree than this boring, unoriginal P&P crap.

I'm really interested to see how they'll be handling combat. I'm assuming it won't be first person so combat won't be as janky as the original Deus Ex, but if it's pen and paper influenced I'm going to guess characters will be stat driven for customisation. Can't wait for more information, in any regard.

I'd say choosing between a huge political incident and sating your lust for justice and revenge (just one example from TW2) checks the Mature box.

They've proven they can do that with the Witcher games. It's not like it's Square-enix or Bioware saying this which would have made us all lol.

I want this. I want it so bad.

A cyberpunk game by CD Projekt and a new Zone of the Enders from Kojima. I'm a very happy man.

Uhhh.. Thaz artwork reminds me waaaaay to much of snatcher! Like!

and people want that on 360 or as a launch game for next gen? You're in for a dissapointment. This is going to take time.,,,lots of it.

'My Frothing anticipation...' etc, etc.

First game in a long time that it's going to be really, really hard to wait for. So excited.

This generation has been great to the Cyberpunk genre. With Deus Ex turning out great, the Shadowrun series getting a new game, and now Cyberpunk 2020 developed by CDPR - we could end up seeing a larger revival of sorts.

My one wish is for there to be an open world GITS game. That would be amazing, but this and Shadowrun will do just fine.
