Argyle said:Yup - see post #263 in this thread.![]()
Pedigree Chum said:Cool, they should have thrown in something extra for all your troubles.
This thread makes me very nervous, MS better not jerk me around :/
Argyle said:Yeah, they offered me a free game, but I already had all the MS-published games, so I got another wireless controller instead...
fartblast said:so is it normal for the ring of light on the controller to barely glow when its off? it doesn't do it when i use regular AA's, but it does it with the play & charge kit... you can barely see it but it's noticeable
DaddyZ said:you get that too? I always take the charge pack out.
Oneself said:Well well well. Mine died today. I'll replace it today. It was an Hitachi. :lol

d58e7 said:I wonder if the problem stems from the HD mode stressing the hardware too much
WYWY said:So after this long, is there some consensus as to the root cause of all the malfunctions? Has anyone ever asked 'what was the problem?' when they received their replacement/repaired unit?
- faulty/dirty drives? (very popular cause last gen)
- damage by overheating? (then this hw needs a serious makeover b4 it is suitable for purchase)
- software corrupting OS in firmware? (Implausible. But MS has had fantastic vulnerabilities in their OS before, so who knows...)
Fallout-NL said:So I got the 4 red lights of death today while watching a DVD. I think the problem started when I tried playing Halo 2, the 360 didnt like that at all. The image was all fcuked up, it started blacking out and it showed all sorts of weird corrupted lines. So I stopped playing that pretty quickly (I was afraid it would destroy the console). Anyway, I was watching a bit of Fight Club and it suddenly blacked out and showed the 4 lights of death, the full ring. I tried turning it on and off, but it kept showing the 4 lights. Then I decided to remove the power cable and then reconnect it, that seemed to work. It boots up again. But now Im worried it might be a better plan to just have it checked out. I dont want this to start happening again in a year and a month (when the warranty is over).
So the question is: is your 360 as good as dead once you get the 4 red lights?

"There are three lights!"
Fallout-NL said:Yeah but the cable wasnt disconnected or anything, thats wat scared me. It happened while I was watching a movie.
arne said:Disconnect it and reconnect the AV cable, or wipe off the metal contacts with a dry cloth if it happens again. If still nothing, it might be cable itself before something else is suspect.
But now I won't feel special if one of mine breaks....krypt0nian said:This is where they go, kiddies.
Fjord said:Oh god three red lights (missing top right). Just playing chromehounds single player and my screen goes a scrambled blue black, although it wasn't stripes or just an overlay like some of you are seeing. It actually looked similar to some video card failures I've seen.
$157 and a couple weeks of my summer to get it repaired, sub par.
Hmm for $400 I could get a brand new one and not have the hassles of all this shipping. Is a week of Chromehounds worth it? Quite possibly.

I only wish I could further extend my XBox 360 GameStop protection before it runs out later this year.
You never know about electronics. I went through 3 Playstations in their day,yet I have my original PS2 working great, while alot of people here haven't been so lucky.
