Streets of Fury has mades it's way onto the Indie Marketplace!

Wow, I enjoy the combat system of this game! It's funny to actually talk with a friend about the combos they're able to pull off in something on Community games.

From the trial, you can tell it has bonus stages, mini in-game cinematics, boss encounters, and a nice fighting system. Love the hitstun timing, impact, and cheesy voice samples. (highfives on "Fire GEYY-ZA!" lol.)

Wish there was a full on "Run" animation rather than just slide-dashing, but that's not too big a deal in the end.

Plesantly reminds me of things like Ragnarok Battle Offline ^_^

Gonna go on a shopping spree today, what cheap games are worth checking out? Mostly 200 and below. Or any REAL good ones above 200.

Already checking out:
Johnny Platform
Miner Dig Deep
Biology Battle
Glitnir
NedxtWar
Being
Skwug

..and yes, I've checked the recommendations thread ;)

Woohoo! My first game, BitStream, is now up! \o/

It's actually really cool.. menus and tutorials are quite laggy sometimes though.
I think I would buy it, but not for 400 pts.

Anyone played LIVELAYER PROTOTYPE?
I don't know yet what's the point of opening/closing the "doors" or whatever they are.

Shopping is DONE! Here's what I picked up:

Miner Dig Deep
- Definition of gaming zen
Johnny Platform's Biscuit Romp - It has tate mode. TATE MODE. Also, it's fun!
Biology Battle - Because at 240, it's better than most.
GLITNIR - 3D tower defense was too cool for me to pass on. At 80 I don't care if the controls are iffy.
NextWar: The Quest for Earth
- Clean and balanced tower defense for cheap.
Atomhex - Caught me by surprise, very old-school and slightly Minter-esque. Real cheap too!
Philip Muwanga's Hexy Trench - Borderlining on genius.

That's less than 800MS.

Good picks there, and Hexy Trench definitely deserves more love.

Yeah, I was amazed. Just the fact that it supports online multiplayer should be enough to buy it! At 200, it's a steal.

GLITNIR was surprisingly fun too even though it takes a while to get used to the controls and visuals, hopefully the developer keeps supporting it and tweaking it.,

Looks like the game designer/musician is about to start whooping on the programmer's ass.

This is unbelievable bullshit. How is the peer-review system letting this shit through? How is a game supposed to be taken seriously if it releases on the same platform as this bullshit?

This is depressing me.

I agree, it's total bullshit. But, it will be ignored, and fall by the wayside like every other non-sex massage related crap game.

The author stated in Peer Review that the images were licensed. And there are a number of 'slideshows' available in the Indie Games channel.

The Streets of Fury boxart says "Finalist of DBP",do we know already the finalist of this year entry?

I think they are announcing the six finalists at PAX along with making them available to play.

Wouldn't surprise me if the re purposed the Live Awards voting tool for this contest.

To me, the XNA Indie games area is suffering from the same growing pains that the iPhone/Touch area was (and still is). There may be genuine good quality stuff that will thrive, but there will be countless imitators, clones, ripoffs, and stupid quick cash-ins. Peer Review isn't designed to filter that out.

Bah.

Meanwhile!

"Kunio" is a classic set of old games made by Technos, including old NES titles like River City Ransom and Super Dodgeball. Early last year it was revealed that a little Japanese indie company Miracle Kidz were working with the original creators of Famicom Kunio titles to create some Kunio fangames. One of them was Downtown Dodgeball, a remake of sorts for Super Dodgeball on the NES and SNES.

Now Miracle Kidz have ported the game over entirely with Downtown Smash Dodgeball, now available on XBL Indie Games. The game is currently sporting an 800MSP price point (which will have to go down in price in October) but the game looks and feels just like the original games, only a lot smoother and in high definition.

Awesome!!! The ladies are gonna love this one.

I am a Super Dodge Ball whore.

800 is an awful lot, especially not being in English...damn, I want this, though.

Incorrect! The game actually has English and Japanese language options! Full translation of options, in game dialog, and even the title screen.

Incredibly awesome1 The Original NES game on Virtual console was half this price, no? 10 bucks for an HD remake isn't unreasonable, especially since it seems of great quality.

However, the fact that it'll have to price drop in Oct, to 400 pts, does loom overhead. I think I'll have to get it then.

I love the Japanese games on Indie games. They really help raise the "gameplay" bar. And this one has English, to boot! It wins best Dodgeball game on all of Xbox Live by default, too, since it's a port of greatness.

And we can expect MORE games from these guys? -Indie Games.. LEVEL UP!-

The first pic shows everything in English.

Ugh, you guys are disgustingly cheap and spoiled. $10 is not a lot of money for a game that you get to keep forever. This game looks like it's worth at least that. You'd put yourself to better use complaining about the price of gas. That's the real rip off.

$10 good deal, game looks fun. At the same time I do understand about an even better deal at $5 and the smart thing to do would be to wait until the forced price drop.

Good deal on it being in English. I am glad to be wrong. However, I still think that $10 is a decent chunk of change, even for an HD Super Dodgeball remake co-created with the original folks behind the NES games. Knowing me, I'll probably still pick it up before the price drop.

Gotta admit widescreen really does wonders for Super Dodgeball. Then again being able to only see half of the field at any time was part of the challenge of the older titles.

Does anyone remember that game (I think it's from DBP 2009) with something 'Berry' in the title. Its a platformer that is randomly generated or procedurally and it has easy to insane difficulty settings, you have to get through these messed up levels. I really want to get that game whenever it comes out.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-6fBVjouPU

Hmmm...if Miracle Kidz got on the XNA/Indie Games platform with the Super Dodgeball remake, how long would it be, I wonder, for a similar treatment of River City Ransom and Crash 'n the Boys, as well as the other super badass Japan-only crazy sports releases...like the one with the multi-hoop, multi-screen high basketball game? Hope they do well enough to continue. A Renegade remake would be nice since they're doing Kunio titles. Even the feudal Japan RCR game would be possible, I suppose. Man, I love Technos Japan.

What's the consensus on Streets of Fury's length and challenge as a co-op playthrough? Comparable to TMNT, SoR 1 or 2, or Final Fight. Gonna go on a Indie Games buy binge this week.

Yeah, that shit looks TIGHT. I must admit I've never been great at platformers but this game brings out the masochist in me. Hopefully it does well in DBP (not better than my game obviously, but well!). :lol

Xbox.com marketplace link ($5)

One of the more bizarre concepts for a game I've ever seen, but this game grabbed me almost instantly. You control a forklift in a loading dock, and you have to keep your dock organized so packages can be received through certain entrances, and be shipped out through other entrances. The numbers on the boxes indicate the order that the boxes need to be shipped out in, and the letters on the boxes mean that box needs to be shipped out immediately through the gate with the corresponding letter. When the meter at the top fills up, each number is reduced by one. Numbers that have a 1 become letters, indicating that they need to be shipped out during that cycle. It's really fun organizing your dock so that everything can get out on time. The people who made this game must have been insane to start this project and think they could make a fun game out of being a factory worker, but they nailed it.

I didn't even look past the "box art," but that screenshot looks unexpectedly good. Might have to try to download the demo

This looks pretty good. Who woulda thought a game with forklifts in a warehouse environment could look fun?

Grrr, Microsoft still hasn't put up our box art or screenshots for our game yet. It looks so generic with just a placeholder 360 box like that. :(

I thought that Storage Inc looked very good when I saw the screenshot. Not had time to try it yet though.

Yup, it's shit. What did they say about sorting it?

It sucks that by the time it'll be sorted you'll be out of the New Releases section. :(

They said it takes up to 48 hours to get the boxart/screens uploaded, and a few hours ago was exactly 48. We're emailing them again to see what's up.

They were 2008 finalist, I think...and they have a thread on the creators forums stating that they were.

Peer Review isn't designed to filter that out.

Exactly. As reviewers we can't say we 'like' this or that, rather it's to make sure a game isn't broken. Trust me, some of the reviewers are pretty outspoken on their distaste for a title, but that's not a reason to fail it.

Man, I'm sorry to hear they still haven't update it :( I really hope they put it back at the top of the recently released list... as this is the one chance a creator can really show off their stuff.

Agreed. I played it right up until I ran out of time, though I'm kind of hesitant to buy it not knowing it's longevity, considering its only like 8mb.

Dude trust me. There is alot of content. I scrolled down the level list and it took a long time to get down to the last one scrolling, plus level difficulties, various to choose from. I'm 100pts short and Im pissed I cant buy it.

Cool. I'll buy it as soon as I get more points. From the demo, it seemed like one of the best games on the service so far. The mechanics are really smart, and it play so well.
