Depends on how the new movement controls. It could get worse; we'll see.
Personally I think the game is looking like it will be very random and unbalanced which could affect things.

World at War is still pretty active on pc, and there's no (or not as many) hackers unlike the console versions.

Bring back server browsers. I rarely play COD but I'd join my friends if they had server browsers.

There doesn't seem to be many U.S. servers on (or my ping is just shit in that game).
Also can't stand the rampant "Only Crouch" servers. it's so annoying and boring.

Didn't BO2 on PS3 average about 500k the few months before Ghosts.
But MW2 did have dedicated servers and mod tools. The pirates hacked it in (it was called AlterIW).
I should specify it died a couple years ago and theres been pockets of it trying to resurge. Its dead because noone cares anymore.

Once developers realize you can't approach PC the same way you approach console, they won't have to worry about having less players than Farming Simulator.

Haha me too. got it for 6 bucks online on a promotion, game is such trash. I couldn't even stomach the singleplayer.

I played it on a free Steam Weekend and was extremely dissapointed. The multiplayer feels like it had no love put into it. The last CoD I bought on PC was MW. That Star Wars mod is awesome.

Black Ops 2 had two of those (I think. Optimization is debatable).
Mod Tools aren't ever coming back when they have map pack(s) for mode(s) to sell you. It's a shame, because I think mod tools while having DLC maps would help than hinder each other. Though I guess their fear is someone just copying the map files and giving them out for free. :/

Well, considering it is a terrible CoD game makes those numbers more than justifiable. Also since Modern Warfare 2, PC hasn't had the strongest of numbers when it comes to CoD (outside of Black Ops).

It's a trash port of a trash game. It's the first Call of Duty I didn't enjoy playing.
Call of Duty games usually aren't regarded as masterpieces, but they're always good for some mindless fun every so often.

Nope. CS:GO is, TF2 next. BF4 did have between 80-90k people at launch iirc but that number is now halved.

Seriously though, this was something that was on my mind when weighing whether to keep saving for a PC build. The online communities for games I enjoy are smaller.

Not surprised, it was already the worst mainline game in the series, but also a horribly unoptimized port missing PC specific settings that were present in previous entries. Infinity Ward have shown a complete disregard for their PC players, even going as far as officially stating that third party solutions for their missing FOV settings were accepted and wouldn't get you banned, and then months after release suddenly started banning people for using it.
Hopefully Sledgehammer do a better job with Advanced Warfare, but if not at least treyarch makes good ports, and for the last few years have gone from being the B-team to being the only COD developer to actually care about until the others prove themselves.

I've played quite a bit of CoD since 4, and I've probably made it to at least third or fourth prestige in the multiplayer in every iteration. Ghosts on the other hand I made it to level 14 before I stopped playing. Terrible maps, terrible netcode, terrible spawns, just overall terrible.
That being said AW is probably going to drag me back in, I'm cautiously optimistic.
