There's a porn booth at E3

I want to know what makes this something to be praised but having booth babes and dancing girls in bikinis or stripping at e3 parties not ok?

It seems like a bit of a double standard. This booth has large life size imagery of nearly naked women and adult film available to view, but booths that advertise sexualized female characters are troublesome for so many.

It's just really bizarre placement when e3 seems to have tried to clean up their image over the last 10 years, then to allow this.

Because booth babes can be exploitative in how they are used to inject sexuality into a product that may or may not reflect what the product is actually about. They are also an open call for harassment, and send a false message about the role of women in the game industry where women are already misrepresented enough.

Porn is different now, the industry is widespread and more accepted among adults. It isn't viewed as negative or as demeaning as it once was, and has become better at catering to a wider audience. Unlike other products porn doesn't wear a face about what it is, and I think we're now seeing more and more people becoming comfortable (maybe even in a passive way) with it being out there. Sure there are still a lot of issues, especially with the porn industry perpetuating stereotypes, and beauty images and other things, but I feel these problems are unrelated to having a clean, well presented booth in the corner of a convention full of people whom they know will enjoy what they are selling.

This booth had no interactive technology. These are just 3D videos with head tracking. While I wont disagree the point that most vr games so far have had very limited in interactivity, if this was some kind of adult game I could see why it was at e3. This is just out of place.

It isn't though. VR is a huge part of the gaming scene now. Anything you want to put in VR has a place at a convention like this, provided the content is compelling. While you could whittle down the technology to "3D videos with head tracking", the experience is greater than that, allowing most people to experience something new and exciting. It really isn't as out of place as you think it is. Unusual, perhaps... but not unrelated at all.

Edit: I'm just happy to see people being mature about it. Porn still has a long way to go legitimizing itself in the public like this... and I really would like to see more variety / diversity in the content, but if anything is going to push these changes and challenge perceptions, the adult industry is in a good place to do it itself.

Is...is that bubble buddy?

Ages are checked and everythings above board and public? That's fine by me. Porn is a huge industry that'll benefit from VR. Good on 'em!

It's just a bit weird to see it at a gaming show. Is everything VR suddenly gaming related?

It's the kind of thing I don't think would happen if the industry was more gender balanced, and consequently, I don't think it sends a good message to women interested in the industry.

Edit: I feel the need to clarify that I don't think there's anything wrong with porn! But I also think there's a proper time and place for it, and that place may not be a gaming convention.

If the industry were more gender balanced, then perhaps we'd see a VR porn booth that was more gender balanced as well! Plenty of women, do in fact, enjoy porn very much. I think it's bad to perpetuate the idea that porn isn't for women, or that women can't partake in it as well. Having porn that feels mostly targeted towards men is more problematic than having a porn booth there in the first place, IMO.

Granted, I can concede to you that it still may not be the best place for it. Although I suppose that remains to be seen. It appears to be a popular booth, so maybe it's an apt fit. There are other non-related things at gaming conventions. If vendors feel there is a cross-over interest in the audience, then there might continue to be a place for it... but perhaps the novelty will wear off, or we'll see a vocal push-back from its presence. Either I feel is okay.

E3: Electronics Entertainment Expo.

E3 may have a lot to do with gaming, but it's not exclusively a "gaming" show. Virtual Reality falls under the "electronics" banner. My guess is that, because VR has basically been lumped in with video games-- because the industry has been pushing/preaching it so strongly-- Naughty America thought this was as good a venue as any to promote its VR wares.

Some have an aspect ratio that's off, but for the majority, I don't think they are actually giants, but you're simply not used to having to move your head to see the whole lady in porn. In real life though, when a girl straddles you, you also can't see her complete body.

I said in the OP that I know people that work at Naughty America (the people that run the booth). If there's one thing I know about them as a company, it's that they are one of the most woman-friendly mainstream porn producers out there. As a matter of fact, here's a video from a woman who actually talked to the company representatives at the booth (more than likely, the two people she talked to were the CIO and the Head of Production):

But is it 60fps?

Yes, this exists. Yes, it's awesome.

Yes, all their videos for the past 6-8 months are 60fps.

There's plenty of VR porn already

While in some shootings models seem to be gigantic indeed (especially NA), most of videos are awesome. And Brazzers is about to release some few VR scenes soon

I knew porn would be that killer genre for VR.When your mother/wife walks in on you masturbating with a helmet on...you simply won't know she's walked in on you
