New news ish but only a few choice words of meat - whats the view on this?

Basically saying Juncker is well aware of the probable best route for the Brits to take - divide and...well, hardly conquer but at least be less shit.

We've got delicious cakes for everyone. What's your favourite.

I don't think the UK can please everyone while everyone sees what everyone is getting, all roads just lead to can't we just keep the same thing but then what's the point.

I wonder what will happen if (as is likely with all huge political promises) Brexit fails to solve any of the structural problems this country faces.

This may also very well mean that the UK is not going to get any deal done though. That would be even worse for them. The divide-and-conquer approach might help them avoid a harsh reaction at best.

Yeah. Don't forget any Brexit deal can be vetoed by any EU member state.

He's bashed May for cozying up to Trump, and he's gone in on Boris. I read both of these things and I'll try to find links.

This idea that he's incompetent too, what makes you say it aside from the things you think he should do that he hasn't?

Has he criticised Boris for not supporting the amendment to give the bus an extra £350 mill. Chuka has.
Corbyn also said he would make sure the uk would stay in the single market. A three line whip for a hard Brexit is an it's referring way to show it.

Woah, I didn't know this. Like, every EU state? Because that puts GB in a pretty nasty position when it comes to working out a deal. Pleasing every member state while working out a deal might mean GB has to make big concessions which might work against their own favor right?

Blame the EU, blame the poor, blame the migrants. Nothing changes. Why is the EU being so unfair, if they gave us everything we wanted for free we would be a British Empire Utopia. Stop competing EU, it's soooooo unfair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it's almost like we are getting a worse deal that will cost us more, who would've thought. Makes my blood boil.

Yup, from the man himself:

Look at the amount of horse trading and vetoing just for the EU to get a 'simple' trade deal done. Brexit is completely uncharted waters and every member state is going to want their say and require appeasing. In two years time we won't have anything even resembling a deal.

Plus the European parliament gets a say, if the UK manages to offer all these different interests something they want and get a good deal then hats off to the tories.

No surprising people want a better or favourable deal.

Down to the EU now though if its worthwhile for them. I'm for remaining. The leavers look like big special snowflakes right now..

Watching the whole Brexit referendum happen from a far, I never understood what the Leavers really expected. The claims about funding NHS were clearly propaganda from the first utterance and the "Parliament Sovereignty!" was just pandering to nationalism with zero basis in fact.

The Leavers don't want a hard Brexit but what other kind of Brexit was there to have? The EU has repeatedly given the UK special concessions and special considerations but that's clearly not enough deference for the Leavers, so they just want to throw it away. But not all of it - they want to keep the parts they think are good. The parts they've already gotten special considerations for in the past.

If I were an EU nation I'd be hard pressed to want to give the UK any kind of deals and I'd throw back the rhetoric in the UK's face: Brexit means Brexit.

In the long run and if the EU survives, this will be a good thing for it. Looking at it from the USA, I've always thought that the UK (and other countries) having special privileges in the EU is a little fucked up. This way, they can have a nice clean cut and if the UK wants to join again decades from now they can apply like every other country. With no special privileges this time.

Really? I see opinions of Brexit crystallising, if anything.

Yeah. Hard to say with how split the vote was but I see many calling out "remoaners" and calling for a swift exit, stop delaying etc. I don't sense much regret and its still loggerheads.

That's actually most of the EU´s rhetoric.
I never understood Britain's problem with it, they always had more pros and less cons than any other European member.
It's a shame that Britain wants to leave, but it'll worse for Britain than the EU.
Especially when May always wants the "hard Brexit".

How are the Democrats so powerless now?

Why are the SDP in Germany losing election after election?

Why are the Socialist Party in France about to be eviscerated?

Over the last 20 years the centre-left parties of the world gave up on opposing the current economic system and instead decided to embrace it, along with it's wealthy donors, and instead focus on "moderating" neoliberalism with this or that minor concession for the poor. By this point, they don't even bother to do that, they are literally carbon copies of the conservative opposition.

The result? No matter who wins which election, the wealth gap got bigger and bigger and the financial industry became less and less regulated and the global economy more and more volatile.

Now we face the terminal decline of that model of economics. The beginning of the end was 2008 and there has been no meaningful recovery since for the vast majority of the working class population of the developed world.

They're sick to death of the status quo and want change, but the left has been so completely annihilated by this coalition of the centre-right and centre-left that the only alternatives being offered are those on the far right: Trump, Le Pen, Brexit.

Which is why it is truly depressing to see people ITT still falling for that coalition's desperate attempts to cling onto the power they are now inevitably going to lose, by discrediting even the most minor shifts to the left (eg. Corbyn).

So long as the education middle classes who would traditionally have joined the march towards a new progressive society are as ideologically brain dead and completely delusional as they are now, there will be no meaningful left wing reaction to the collapse of neoliberalism and so absolutely no chance in fending off the advance of the far right.

This guy gets it.
