I actually did like GB press reaction and criticism. Towards the end of the show they said that Sony really didn't bring nothing to the table since most the major announcements were years away. The Shenmue announcement was just a Kickstarter and lord knows how long until we see FF7. In my opinion they just understood all the PR lingo being thrown around and translated that well towards their audience.

That makes no sense see. ALL the conferences/interviews/media are PR related. If you actually think that way about everything you might as well ignore the whole E3. This is why I find Giantbummer to be insufferable. If you can't genuinely see why it's great news that the trifecta were announced to be alive then there really isn't much anyone can do/say.

Hell what does it even mean they didn't bring anything to the table? The Last Guardian? Horizon? Uncharted 4? Dreams? Rigs? what the hell do they need to do in order to 'bring it' then?

If they criticize them on their indifference on their own system that is vita then yea that i can fully get behind. But excellent first party software, smart third party deals (e.g. CoD deal) and new tech with Morpheus are all good things.

I don't think many of us are expecting those games for awhile and we are fine with that, we are just happy that many of them are finally existing

who's this motherfucker wearing a suit talking about games

oh it's just bosman i guess. i like his reactions too. never heard of him before. a real 'who's that guy, oh really? he seems okay' kind of moment.

Kyle Bosman.

A motherfucker wearing a suit.

Talking about games.

I used to watch GT religiously during the days of Satterfield/Beer/Pachter. When they left I sort of fell off.

Seeing E3 I've realised what I've been missing out on. This new crew has a great vibe.

Yup. I'll agree to the GiantBummer comments. I was baffled by how much I'm disliking GB right now, considering they used to be my go to website for most stuff.

I guess I'm going to start visiting GT too. I need more gaming-centric websites because I can't stay around GB anymore.

Is the GT podcast good? Do they actually talk about games?

It's called GT Time, and It's really good. Kyle likes starting off each podcast with a game announcement and they like getting straight into games at the very beginning. Of course, if there's other news throughout the week they talk about that too. They have a fan segment where they answer a really good question by a fan.

They cap each week off with a crazy bet (like how many names are going to be shown in the Arkham Knight credits), and whoever wins the bet the next week gets to plug a video that they like.

They recorded a live super GT Time yesterday on Twitch and uploaded it today. You can jump right in.

Also, another show I would recommend is Trailer Score. Brandon, Kyle, and Bloodworth usually go through trailers and dissect them, and end up giving a final score. It's really interesting to hear what Brandon has to say since he's really big on the actual art of trailers instead of getting caught in the hype of it all. They'll be uploading the Trailer Score for FFVII, Dark Souls III, Dishonored 2, etc. sometimes this week or next week. Should be fun!

Been a fan of GT since 7ish years ago. Was trying to decide to get a 360, looking for reviews on Eternal Sonata and Bioshock, came across the awesome GT review narrated by Brandon and never left. Then they started adding a bunch of silly shows and showing their actual personalities and what not and liked it even more. Love how they are one of the few non-cynical gaming sources these days if someone doesn't like it they don't, if they do they are ecstatic.

Just a bunch of folks who genuinely like games... and have way to much theater/production experiences lol.

But then we enter into terrains like Isn't that what E3 is about? I don't see Sony or MS or any other company (with the exception of Nintendo this E3) selling the idea that E3 2015 is about 2015 holiday games and early 2016 games. E3 has been for some years a place were all the publishers and platforms holders talk about their future plans. Some times they go overboard like EA last year with their "conceptual prototypes" but that is how I have seen E3 in the last few years and pointing out that FF7R, Shenmue 3, TLG, Gears 4, etc etc aren't coming out soon seems more like a kill joy attitude rather than someone that likes games and want to be exited about the future in the conference where publishers talk and show their future projects.

Been sticking to Game Trailers and Giant Bomb exclusively for a while now. They both put out great stuff at a pretty steady pace, with the exception of that train wreck that was last night's GB live stream.

While I fully understand what they were saying, I guess my reaction to this is a giant "So what?" Everything at E3 is PR lingo and I highly doubt anyone expects those games in the next few years. The real excitement is that we at least know these things are happening, where they were not before. That's the whole point of E3 imo. Not to mention many of their comments, especially about Sony this winter seemed a little cut off from what the mainstream actually buys. You know like how COD, Fallout and freakin Battlefront are going to dominate this Holiday.

This is less about Giantbomb, and more about in general, I also wish people would acknowledge that there are PS4 exclusives this fall, even if they are not all first party. Pls pay attention to Dragon Quest Heroes people :( . and the first party ones like The Tomorrow Children. Pls.

That's exactly why people are starting to dislike GB, that correlation is illogical, just because the release date of most of those games are for 2016 and beyond doesn't mean they don't exist and just dismissing all the games that Sony presented by saying they didn't bring nothing new to the table feels like they just want to look down on their games just for the sake of looking down on them.

Low Youtube stream and Twitch numbers compared to others. Albeit, they usually have a stream on their site too but I didn't even go on their site to see if they did.

Yeah they do show on their website and they also have PS4 and Xbox One apps that show the conferences.

This isn't even entirely true given how folks like Brad and Jeff were fawning over Uncharted 4, everyone being hella excited about their Morpheus/Oculus/Hololens experiences, interested that The Last Guardian was shown off again, and Horizon being considered their favorite new thing shown at E3. The just weren't terribly excited for FFVII and Shenmue because those games just didn't appeal to them, which I don't fault them for. I don't want people to fake being interest in certain games just because I care about them.

They pointed out that even though Sony made huge announcements. Most of the great games like the ones you mentioned weren't going to be released this year. Most of it was for 2016 and if anything it felt more like crowd pleaser's to just have some content to fill in their E3.

All 4? Come on. That lady was such a party pooper.

"Guys, I'm trying to focus here."
"Please stop shouting. I'm trying to hear what he's saying."
"Haha, FF7 remake. Cool. Um.. let me smile awkwardly". (Ok, I made this one up)

NeoGAF will always be the best "unofficial" place for videogame news, but GT has been my favorite dedicated site for years with their shows and reviews.

Kyle is a really unique guy. And Huber's tears really let you know that he is way more into games than most of us.

Also, Brandon Jones has the best game reviewing voice in the industry (at least until Morgan Freeman becomes a games journalist)

GT Time is great and is one of the few things that I tune into on GT. Though I am not really a fan of Mandatory Update or some of the other shows they have. I didn't catch much of their E3 coverage outside of a few videos that have been posted here non stop here on NeoGAF. I mostly stuck to the official streams and the chat provided by NeoGAF in these threads while information was being dispensed. I did tune into a few Giant Bomb talk overs, and I found them amusing.

True. It is refreshing to see in an space which seems to be so cynical at times. Past few years were about being annoyed by something, that got clicks. Seems that the tides are turning, being upbeat about games is exciting.

And no, this doesn't mean we shouldn't discuss, call out, or criticise things when warranted, but the general cynicism of the industry is boring and old now to me.

And thank fuck for that. My wallet and free time is qlr any stretched for the end of the year, but Square-Enix decided to casually drop Hitman and Just Cause 3 too. If Sony announced anything for 2015,id have been shocked. This shocked.

Don't you dare try to talk bad about Elyse. She was more restrained in order to get work done, but you could tell that she was just as happy and excited.

I thought for the most part that during E3 they did a pretty decent job of this. They were excited for the announcements but gave pretty thoughtful responses and critiques later.

Don't make crap about Elyse, you'll be in a world of pain. She's awsome as is everyone on the GT crew... well screw Buttons.

You know, you can like one thing without putting down another. just because giant bomb doesn't suit you isn't reason enough to put them and their efforts down.

Glad to see other video centric sites gain bigger followings. Personality driven sites seem to be the thing these days and the more the merrier.

GameTrailers is AMAZING. I've been watching them for years and they've only gotten better and better. This last year's shows and all of their new content and style of doing things has been utterly fantastic. And man, their E3 coverage this year just BLEW AWAY every other year that they've done it and I'm so glad they're not part of Viacom and tethered to SpikeTV anymore. The move to Defy has just made them better than ever.

Ben, Ian, Huber, Brandon, Kyle, Elyse, Brad, Bloodworth, Matt, Don, love them ALL. Their vibe is just so jolly and genuine.

Tabletop Adventures is my favorite, but every show they do is great. I watch all of their normal daily Twitch streams too and Brandon hinted that they're maybe doing even more of that and I really hope they do.

Everyone should check them out, it's good times.

I think their take sort of exemplifies how much they don't understand large chunks of their audience, and of core gamers in general. It also indirectly highlights their sentiment of superiority, and lack of faith in wider gamer intelligence. We know that those games are years off, we know that one of those announcements was just to get the project going, we know that E3 is basically one big PR advertising opportunity, but we don't care. So many fans are just elated in knowing these games are coming at all. Games we thought may never see the light of day, and that's why you saw some of the reactions you did, irrespective of release time frames. E3 is not about, and has never been about just imminent releases, it's always had announcements that were years off, and there's nothing wrong with that. It just adds to it all, and keeps us in the loop.

On top of that, 18 out of the 20 games Sony showed or announced at the conference, are targeting 2015 or 2016 releases, so I don't see why it even matters that just 2 games out of the 20 (Shenmue 3 and FFVIIR), are further off.

You don't know shit about GT if you would qualify Elyse as a "party pooper."

Get out of here with BS.

That's true. I did'nt really mean to sound like that either, since even of I disagreed with some of their criticisms, I still really enjoyed their E3 coverage. Especially the guest shows afterwards. My goodness the last one was amazing.

GT has changed alot since the switch to Defy media. its much smaller and Brandon Jones is running the show marvelously. They are fun because of their personalities, you arent going to get investigative articles from them or exclusive game reveals, its just fun watching their video's/streams.

Watch the Bosman vs Huber E3 predictions video, its incredible.

GT's reviews are very critical and thorough. I consider them as good as RPS, GI, and Gamespot. I've gotten used to the voice of the narrator as well :S
