Three in December: Decimate Your Backlog

Would like to complete these three:

Final Fantasy IV interlude
The Last Guardian
The Legend of Zelda (replaying and introducing this masterpiece to my sons on the NES mini)

If possible:
Just Cause 2
Witcher

Want to finish what I started ages ago, so I can begin 2017 with the rest of my backlog (~50 games) that has never been played.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Ultimate Edition (Steam)
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)
Unravel (XB1)

Bonus: Wolfenstein The New Order (XB1)

Gonna try and go through these at least:

Final Fantasy XV Finished and platinumed it actually.
SOMA, ABZU, INSIDE at least one of these will go down, hopefully all if i can get the time in.

Batman Arkham Knight Dropped this last year because of the batmobile, but i've been inclined to give it another try. We'll see how that goes.

Instead of what i had on my list i had sudden urge to go to stealth based games, so i played and finished Thief and Dishonored 2.

I'm mainly playing the games I bought from the Xbox Black Friday sales

Goals:
  • Ori and Blind Forest - Finished it today, after 450+ deaths. Great game, the visuals and sounds are especially astonishing.
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider - Already about 12 hours in, and I think my game is broken, there's a cutscene that's not loading and I cant finish the objective. Frustrating since I'm almost at the end of the main story :/ but I'll see if something can be done before I discard it
  • Wolfenstein TNO

    Bonus:
  • Sunset Overdrive

Finished Zelda: Link Between Worlds. What an excellent game! Link to the Past is in my top 3 games of all time and getting to revisit it like this was awesome.

Got some time off this month and got a lot of backlog to potentially conquer.

Beaten so far this month:
Dishonored 1
Skyrim: Dawnguard

Planning to beat:
Ratchet and Clank
Doom
Dishonored 1 DLC (Knife of Dunwall and Brigmore Witches)

Started but less likely to beat:
Pokemon Sun- 15 hours in and enjoying it a lot, but amongst the other games don't think I'll have much time to play this month

Will start but probably not beat:
-Watch Dogs 2 or Dishonored 2
-FF XV (if that Pro performance patch gets delayed, may hold off till 2017)

Might start:
The Last Guardian- feel this may be a good game to play around family during the holidays. We'll see

1. FFXV - Chapter 11, will finish before the week
2. INSIDE - Got to the middle, but then FFXV came, so will finish immediately after
3. NEVER ALONE - Bought it so my fiance could be introduced to gaming with the cute fox and visuals and stuff :P but didn't happen so I'll just finish it myself.

Beat GRR few days ago. I was very positive surprised. Didn't expect such a great game. Looking forward for second part in January.

PS4
Gravity Rush Remasterd
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Mirror's Edge: Catalyst

PSV
Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma

Edit:
Beat ZTD. Unfortunately the weakest game in ZE trilogy. The biggest flop of 2016 for me.

I'm in.

Uncharted 4 - started on Sunday, I think I'm at chapter 12 now.

Journey - I know this one's not long, but I want to make sure I get through it since I'm not 100% sure I'm going to re-up my PS+ in January.

Killzone: Mercenary - This is kind of cheating since I'm practically at the end anyway, but I need some motivation to finish it off.

Bonus: If I get through those (and I should), I want to tackle Where is My Heart? I'm about halfway through and it's been in my backlog for years.

Double Bonus: Going to tackle Metal Gear Solid V once I'm through with Uncharted. It seems pretty long though, so I don't know if I can get through it.

Triple Bonus: Going to see if I can finish the raid triumphs for Destiny: Rise of Iron.

Also going to keep playing through Persona 3 Portable, but I don't have any expectations of finishing it within the month.

Uncharted is done. Killzone is done. About an hour left of Journey, just waiting a bit so I can get the trophy for picking it up again after a week.

To my shock I've also ploughed through most of Persona, about 60 hours in with 2 months to go. If I can get that done I'll also try to finish off Where Is My Heart?

1. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
Currently working through Watch Dogs 2.

Would like to complete these three:

Final Fantasy IV interlude
The Last Guardian
The Legend of Zelda (replaying and introducing this masterpiece to my sons on the NES mini)

If possible:
Just Cause 2
Witcher

Well out of my original list the only one I've beaten is
The Last Guardian

However, I picked up Batman TellTale and DeadRising 4 this month and played through both of those so I wound up completeting three game.

Last month, last chance to beat the final games for the 52 in a year challenge.

My goals for the month are:

  • [*]Pokemon Sun (3DS)
    [*]Final Fantasy XV (PS4)
  • Bloodborne (PS4)

Forgot to update. Beat Pokemon and FFXV earlier this month. Also completed the 52 games challenge.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Ultimate Edition (Steam)
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)
Unravel (XB1)

Bonus: Wolfenstein The New Order (XB1)

Watching the credits roll for Wolfenstein right now. I started out really unsure about it, but it kept getting better and now this is going to be one of my top games of the generation.

Finished:

Dark Souls 3
Titanfall 2
Battlefield 1

Currently playing through The Last Guardian, may or may not finish it before the month ends.

Decimating my backlog :

- Limbo
- Dragons Crown
- Doom

Mission "complete" for december.

I also finished The Last Guardian although this was not part of my backlog.
I'm still committed to finish Sly Cooper Thieves in Time this year.
And already have my January list ready :
- Fury
- RE Remake
- Zombi
- Everybody is Gone to Rapture

Gotta make PS Plus worth right?
I hope Uncharted 4 MP and Let it Die allow me lol

Busy working so much that I completely forgot about posting in this topic. LOL. Slowly but surely, im knocking down my backlog. I have 17 games overall but 8 of them are PSN/Indie games. Disc based wise, I have 5 games. Hoping to finish the 5 disc based games by the time REVII comes out.

OVERALL 2016: 14/33

1 - Battlefield 1 / PS4 PRO
Excellent single player campaign and my favorite FPS of the year just ahead of the game below. Don't play online.

2 - Titanfall 2 / PS4 PRO
Another excellent single player campaign and my second favorite FPS of the year. Don't play online.

DECEMBER

1 - Doom / PS4 PRO
Was playing on and off since October 19th and finally finished the single player campaign today. Good 8/10 FPS but too fast paced for me and prefer humans/mechs over demons so I can easily say that this will either be the third or fourth best FPS of 2016 for me depending on how the below title plays out. Don't play online.

2 - Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare / PS4 PRO
Played through three chapters of the single player campaign and it's pretty good thus far. Still have a ways to go though. Don't play online.

3 - Watch Dogs 2 / PS4 PRO
Only played through the tutorial. May play this instead of COD since the last three games I played and completed were all first person shooters so I may give myself a little break from that genre.

Beat Deus Ex and I must admit it is a very good game. In comparison to previous part, lame boss fights was deleted. However too much missions in Prague for me.
Currently I am playing in Mirror's Edge Catalyst (great game, but adding exp, new skills and new hits are completely unnecessary) and Citizens of Earth - finally (much worst and boring than I anticipated).

3DS
Citizens of Earth

PS4
Gravity Rush Remasterd
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Mirror's Edge: Catalyst

PSV
Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma

Love this thread's initiative. I've beaten three games this month:

Pokémon Moon. The most hooked I've been with a Pokémon game since the original Ruby, in fact, it's the first time since that title that I actually finish a title in the franchise. So many welcome QOL additions, charm at every corner, what has to be the most consistently funny (and at times even moving) script in the series and simply a delight to go through.

I actually made finishing this one before the 15th of this month into a bet; for winning, a gal pal had to draw me something. Remember that Fairly Oddparents episode with the beauty contest? The scene where Timmy's Dad is laughing maniacally in his throne, the city burning, all while Dinkleberg is forced to do manual work? She had to draw that with us in those roles, and yes, she drew me with the heels and all. Few things have made me grin like that drawing, I really need to make more backlog bets.

Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition: Released on its own in Japan and accompanied by Puzzle & Dragons Z overseas, the Mario version is by far the winner of the package IMHO, with no filler to be found and a good dose of challenge. It was tremendously addictive but it had been months since I had last played it; overcome by a random desire to go back to it (turns out I was halfway through the game) I finished it in a handful of days. This is however main campaign only; upon beating it, you're
greeted by a remixed run of the entire game, with stronger enemies and the ability to unlock the likes of Rosalina, the Koopalings and more as Helpers.
. Happy as I'd be to delve into it, I need to move onto other titles; perhaps I'll beat it fully by the end of next year.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam: First M&L I play since the original Superstar Saga, and I wonder if I shouldn't have watched a video showcasing its best moments instead. Perhaps that's harsh for a game that kept me thoroughly entertained during its first half, that got several chuckles out of me and with some boss battles that felt really satisfactory to win...But for the love of Miyamoto, is its pacing atrocious, especially during the latter half. There's too many mandatory missions, too close to each other; worse still, they're alright at best and eye rollingly tedious at worst. Sequences that drag on for ages, no respect for the player's time. By the point I reached the final setting I knew I was within poking distance of beating the title, but I actively kept putting it off because it had become such a chore to proceed. Blegh. A game I started liking but that soon outgrew its welcome.

Oh well. Right now I'm all motors running into Paper Mario: Color Splash, which is an absolutely captivating experience and easily one of the most hysterical titles I've played. Definitely deserves more love.

Also on topic: there's actually another backlog bet going on with a friend. I'm to finish Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii), Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 before the Switch releases. In turn my friend has to beat Xenoblade Chronicles X and Metal Gear Solid 5 before the same date. I thiiink I'm at the very least a third of the way through Xenoblade, got about seven chapters into Bayo and haven't touched Bayo 2. Plenty of time though, neither he nor I are really paying attention to our respective bet titles these days.

Journey is finished - what a magical ending. I was kind of on the fence until the final third of the game.

So, my quota of 3 is met, but holiday Puyo Puyo Tetris with the family took up pretty much all my gaming time. So Persona 3 Portable looks like it's going to have to wait until next month.

Well I finished one game (Dark Souls 2) but am still playing parts of the DLC, and in the meantime I bought 6-7 more games.

So I failed pretty significantly.

Finished:
Forza Horizon
Forza Horizon 3
Modern Warfare Remastered (w 1000 G)

Also went back and got 1000 G in Assassin's Creed 2.

Good month overall.

And that's all in this year.
Beat 54 games - personal record - and the last game was Citizens of Earth which turned out the worst game of 2016 for me.

3DS
Citizens of Earth

PS4
Gravity Rush Remasterd
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Mirror's Edge: Catalyst

PSV
Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma

I didn't beat anything this month. Kept on playing Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker after the initial credits. Nearly completed every single last possible mission... then my PS3 died (I will fix it and it will live again). Then I just played some Smash Bros. Wii U instead. Started Antichamber this morning. Will be the first game I beat next month. First game of 2017 for that matter.

Best of luck to all of you in the new year.

OP I love these threads. Thanks for doing them. they give the ever so slight motivation to peck away at that backlog.

Ahh failed this month, only beat one game

Sword Coast Legends - PS4
Loved it! Still need to do the dlc and I'll probably mess about with dungeon crawls & dungeon master stuff more but I finished the campaign before christmas. The controls took a bit of getting used to - didn't help that the text is tiiiny and some of the controls are given on load screens but weren't clear from where I was sitting. Still I think it's a great game & I've already planned my next character for a replay.
Main story campaign took around 30 hours.

I'm currently playing Pokemon Sun, Devil Survivor Overclocked & the Lego Harry Potter Collection but no chance of beating any of them within the next 3.5 hours

[WiiU]Xenoblade X - Finished
[WiiU]Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games - Finished
[PS4]Chase: Cold Case Investigations ~Distant Memories~ - Finished

Finished Xenoblade X at 625 hours and Mario & Sonic at 56:29. Xenoblade is totally 100% done since I missed an enemy but I wasn't starting from scratch just to fill out the bestiary.

Mario & Sonic is possibly the laziest game in the series and a total letdown after the last few.

Enjoyed Chase and hopefully they get to continue it.

I think I can do it, I'l go with those :

Fifa 17 : I started adventure mode 3 days ago
999 : I think I've made through half of the game
Inside : I bought it yesterday and I plan to play through it in one shot.

I don't think I'll have the time to beat Splatoon and Ratchet & Clank, but I'll probably play those a bit.

Finished 5 games eventually that month. Most are short but I'm still glad.

999
I heard a lot of things about the game and was thrilled to play another DS adventure game after my enjoyment of Layton and Ace Attorney. Oh boy this one is so much worse. Characters and mysteries are good but everyting else is bad.
Story is completely obscure, visuals aren't very good and gameplay can be very frustrating. One exemple is that EVERY TIME you try to enter a digital code, you have to read that tutorial which is like "to enter the code, press the buttons with number on it on the touchscreen, then press enter". I'm not stupid, thanks !
The pacing is bad, text flow is way to slow and dialogues are trash so you have to spend a lot of time reading at a slow pace uninteresting sentences.
I give it 5/10 still and consider the game beaten even though I only got one ending.

Sonic CD
I play that one on my phone and I enjoyed my short time with it.
It's a good sonic game, I played it pretty casually in a relax way like I do for most Sonic game. Game is easy to beat except Metal Sonic confrontation.
I did not get what I was supposed to do with time travels though. 7/10

Fifa 17
Adventure mode was a nice idea but execution failed. CPU cheat A LOT in that mode which is infuriating. Plus your performances do not seem to change the events of the story.
The rest of the game is as usual. I'm disappointed. 6/10

OPUS : the day we found earth
Nice little game on mobile that is free with Amazon Underground.
Just being able to name the planets is cool, I like astronomy and astrophysics so with despite the limitations of the game it still is a bit of a dream for me.
I know I'll probably try No Man's Sky even with the backlash because I'm a sucker for that kind of things. I'll wait the 15€ price point though or even better the PS+ offering because 3 hours of fun does not worth more.
7/10 for OPUS.

INSIDE
Great game in its genre. It's way better than Limbo. The story and the atmosphere are way ahead its predecessor.
The game is at the limit of being too creepy for me but it served it to let a persistent memory in my mind.
Gameplay wise I liked it, the puzzles are maybe a bit too easy. The few hidden ones I found were tougher so it gives a good reason for another playthrough.
This game is totally on point on not dragging for too long on the same mechanic. It is very well-designed and polished.
It won't go in my top games ever but has a nice place in the PS4 library. 8/10
