TITANFALL 2 | Single Player Vision Dev Diary - Seriously, where's the hype on GAF?

I guess not. Time to kill isn´t much higher in TF2 than it is in CoD.

You´d be better off playing something like Destiny, which has a very high time to kill in PvP.

That's what I'm thinking as well, it just means that I would put even more emphasis on the campaign to be a fulfilling experience.

I don't know how much this will affect the TTK in Titanfall 2, but in Titanfall the movement increased the effective TTK. And don't forget the titans. They have a high TTK.

Maybe but from what I played of the demo it does feel like I don't have time to respond to attacks. And the titans take a Long time to come. Too bad there isn't a Titan only mode, it's unfair since there's a pilot only mode.

Very hyped.

I love the distinct Titans, and I think that both the SP and MP will deliver. It will be the perfect counter balance to BF1 for me.

I was the most excited for Titanfall 2. Then the beta was like "meh". It was all right. Not great. Then I was like "time for Battlefield 1 to blow me away!" Then it was just...not what I wanted. Then it was time for Call of Duty! And from look of beta thread...I'm nervous. I'm going to play that today. So now I'm back to super excited for Titanfall 2.

I should be in full hype mode now but the beta really disappointed me. I'm waiting on single player impressions and reviews before diving in as it'll probably still be a great game just nothing like the first game.

TTK in Titanfall 2 is not drastically different from Titanfall, certain weapons are slightly faster though. And there is Last Titan Standing in the final game.

I'm really disappointed that EA, in their infinite wisdom, are launching this in the same month a Battlefield 1.

Titanfall still has the best mechanics and gameplay of any other shooter this gen. The sequel looks amazing and rather than giving it room to breathe they are sending it out to die.

I hope Sony or Microsoft pick up this IP and give it the love and attention it deserves.

My understanding is that mode you don't respawn with a Titan, what I mean is like a mode where you play almost exclusively with Titans, essentially making it a mecha game.

If there are plot only modes then there should most definitely also be titan only modes.
Maybe it's something that they can patch in later.

Why would I be hype for another on-rails AAA "cinematic" FPS campaign? I'm so done with that. Unless they can have non-linear firefights with seamless gameplay in and out of titans in place of "epic" setpieces I'll pass.

It'd help if you read up about the game at least before spewing crap about it. The game is meant to be large sandbox areas between set piece moments.

There are also supposed to be puzzle and platforming segments. It sound the complete opposite of the standard cinematic shooter campaign.

Is anyone going PC or is that likely not a worthwhile purchase (because of player base drying up)?

I bought on PC, best buy offers it with their $10 pre order promo and it stacks with 20% GCU discount so its $48 (20% off) minus $10 RZ cert 10 days later, plus I pre ordered when they were offering $10/100 discount for using visa checkout (expired now) so it'll be $33 for me. Even after six months I don't expect it to drop below $40 so even if I just play SP campaign and fool around with MP thats a pretty solid deal.

I am 99% positive the playerbase will die hard on PC, but even so it shouldn't be that hard to find a game. You'll be stuck with just attrition or their new attrition mode most likely, but still you can play.

I just checked Titanfall on PC and as of right now, 8am PST on a sunday morning, there are 785 players worlwide with 423 in attrition (77 in "my region") and 123 in campaign (nearly zero in every other mode). I'd expect the dropoff to be just as steep on PC for T2 within 2 months. By comparison there are currently 28k players in Battlefield 4 on PC, 22k on xbone, and 46k on PS4.

That said if you live outside USA then maybe console will be a better choice, I don't know exactly how the matchmaking works in T2 and if it will only connect you to regional datacenters or what.

LMAO pretty much everyone I know feels this way and wont be surprised if other other will feel the same once they try the infinite warfare beta. Battlefield 1 is still same old battlefield with a new coat and the people who can afford MWR at $100 more power to you. I cant wait for TF2 and would be devastated if they delayed it. I totally agree withe the other gaffer who said this game is gonna have so many LTTP threads lol.

It seems like a no brainer and you could pull in the Mecha fanbase like me.

But the Developers probably won't because they see Titanfall as a shooter that just happens to have mechs, and not a mech game.

You jump on that bandwagon you rebel you!

Someone more clever than me needs to come up with a funny and ironic OP title thread using this ridiculous "but the beta" bandwagon

Hey buddy, look up what "jump on that bandwagon" means.

You're just embarrassing yourself right now.

What are you guys talking about? LTS is abosolutely in the game and you still spawn in a Titan, and Titan combat is still the only thing that matters.

You guy really need to watch these video as these represent the game in its current state and likely what you are playing at launch, the tech test is not representing the Titanfall 2 experience any more.

I'm not hyped because I thought the beta sucked.

I enjoyed TF1 much more than the bland-ass beta.

Besides, it's barely unique post-BLOPS3 and graphically outdated next to BF1.

Titanfall is still unique even after all the copycats because those are barely imposters in terms of movement mechanics, and the infantry - mech relationship is still not recreated by any other game. And in Titanfall 2 the movement mechanic is being further refined, and the pilot - titan synergy is still there.

I've completely written it off, despite loving the first game, because of the foolish time they've chosen to release it.

Basically the same here. I hated the first weekend of the techtest, but then they fixed it up a bit for the next weekend and it was better.

But I dont know if its where I need it to be yet.

If Respawn matched TF1 from the get-go, this wouldnt have even been a question, and Id have this preordered (I actually had it preordered, then canceled it.)

Ill likely still get the game, eventually. But they kinda goofed by putting in such a saturated timeframe. Theres too many other great games out now, somethings gotta give.

Can anybody shed some details on why? I skipped the beta, but was looking forward to release. What's the story here on why beta killed the game?

People who played the first felt that this new one hindered pilot/titan movement and removed customization of the Titans. Typically those who never played the first game didnt have a problem with the beta, based off replies Ive seen here on neogaf

I enjoyed the beta myself and loved the first game. Campaign looks like it could be really good, and I'm looking forward to jumping back into MP. They should have released in Jan-March to avoid Infinite Warfare/BF hype completely clouding over Titanfall, but oh well, at least I get to play it in a few weeks.

I don't know man.

I think TF1 still holds up, but TF2 doesn't feel nearly as special/unique to me.

Got it. Thanks. I guess sort of understandable, on the customization front. Key in games like this. Still I'm getting a Mech Warrior vibe from the trailers, which I really like. Hope they can pull it off and bring in (or bring back) customization. There's no denying that pulling or minimizing customization makes it easier to balance MP, but still I love deep customization - shame.

I never played 1 but some of my biggest complaints

- map design was garbage, 2 out of the 3 maps didn't encourage Parkour at all

- amped hard point was a terrible game mode that rewarded camping

- weapon balance was blegh

- time to kill was way too fast

- grapple hook was really slow and glitchy

I didn't like the MP beta, or the first game much, and it's hard to get excited about campaigns in MP focused shooters that tend to last 6-8 hours and have no replay value for me personally. It's a Redbox rental at best for me.

While it is a tactic, its not the best imo. Getting out and farming the bots for XP will always be the best option. You can camp the stations and be killed by someone banking and noticing you. So you just wasted potential time of getting money. Or you can get that kill on those trying to bank, but not get a whole lot of $ from doing so. I don't think the camping complaint is a mode breaker and honestly I didn't see a lot of it.

I dont understand why people who say the beta sucked wont watch the above links. Specially those who say they loved R1 and are disappointed after the beta, Watch the above links and tell me that they haven't improved the game after the beta and that it plays pretty similar to OG Titanfall.

Now if customizable Titans and the battery system is turning you off the game then maybe Infinite warfare and BF1 might be the better option.

I'm a liitle annoyed I don't get the EA Access discount. Like they're asking for us to buy discs, which can end up being sold/bought used thus reducing profit.

Ps4 Pro patch maybe?

Yep, I can confirm that it's there. :)

Stay tuned this coming week for a ton of new stuff. :)

I liked what I played during the tech test, but I can understand why some who played the first one wouldn't. That said, Respawn has already changed a lot, which was shown during the last PC capture event (same event where they showed Attrition). It was shown that moving fast was, again part of the game (definitely faster than the tech test), and that red glow isn't as bright.

I think the major gripe at this point is the third-person view when entering a Titan, which isn't that big of a deal (at least to me).

We have another interview with Respawn about Titanfall 2, which I think will be ready by this coming week! Lots of stuff discussed. :D

I'm thinking really hard about it and whether or not I should get it day one or wait for a sale. Right now it's looking like a sale for me. I was so hyped on the game until the beta came along.

I don't know. I just have confidence in Respawn. They have been responsible for some really good games. I totally understand being underwhelmed by the first week of the beta, but since then they've been hitting the right notes for me. And there's a fine line between not changing enough between T1 and T2 and changing too much. They'd get flak at both ends of the spectrum. Hopefully they have found the sweet spot.

Both SP and MP look fun.

The Beta fucking sucked. I'm gonna wait until I can get it for $20 or so, it's destined for a huge bomba drop after release.

Can't wait.

What if they've made major and subtle changes since then? It was a beta.

They probably need to let everyone know. They've got zero momentum right now.

They could fix that up with an EA access demo. Baffling that they aren't allowing it. It just makes people think there's more reason to be skeptical.
