Looks great and honestly, it's the first release next gen console game to be hyped about besides Infamous.
I loved the Two Towers map with low gravity settings in Unreal Tournament.
Hmmm. This certainly is a little weird to me....This is only the fifth thread, get your facts straight!
Why is Titanfall so special?
Is Titanfall being pushed on us?
Titanfall is nothing to be excited about
What exactly is Titanfall innovating on? Why is it so fun?
+ this thread of course
.
I feel this thread is kind of endemic of most active GAF posters starting with console gaming in the SNES or PS1 era and associating either old Nintendo or cinematic, story heavy singleplayer games as the prime example of what gaming is, and then not getting that people who do multiplayer gaming first might be very excited for something that looks like it tries to blend popular multiplayer shooter trends from gen 5-6 and gen 7 together in a way they feel looks engaging.
Like I don't see any threads ever asking "Why is The Order 1886 exciting people? It's a linear cinematic corridor shooter." because we just gave GOTY to TLOU. Similarly, people getting confused about how a character from a game that has 27 million daily players beat Link, a character from a series that never even remotely approached 27 million units sold, because it's a multiplayer PC game that's notably more popular outside the US and Japan ("the gaming countries") than within them.
I'll tell you why I usually show up to try and combat the hype. I think infinity ward figured out an amazing formula for getting people hooked on a game. There is nothing else like it. Even though tons of people still play CoD, lots quit when they realized the emptiness and pointlessness of it. Now Respawn is here to do it again, and I think it's gross. I feel like a lot of people who already broke out of the CoD cycle are about to get sucked right back in. I'd rather that didn't happen.
Right, this is definitely true to an extent, but I feel we didn't get nearly this much pushback reaction for TLOU despite huge hype. The more intense the hyperbole, the bigger the pushback. Just look the pushback against gies/sessler type hyperbole versus more tame sources. And the hyperbole for Titanfall is pretty crazy. If a bunch of people were out there talking about how the Order was going to redefine gaming blah blah, you'd see pushback.
I'm sure all of the anti-Titanfall de-hyping has nothing to do with the fact that the game isn't on the PS4.
Draven (League of Legends champion) beat out Link (LoZelda protagonist) in a character popularity poll.Sounds about right.
And I think this also sorta explains the "Valve don't make games anymore!" sentiment people like to throw out from time to time. Of course it's mainly tied to them not making HL, but also how they're rather focused on multiplayer experiences instead of cutting edge SP campaigns.
Also can you please explain the bolded? Seems like I missed out on something.
Could you imagine 1080p? Dizzam.
Right, Valve is a great example of this as they make games for an audience that doesn't always overlap now and thus for some people they might as well not exist (and they're going to take every opportunity to tell you that).Sounds about right.

companies pay for forum posters and postive press, no way to know if the hype is real. The hype well has been poisoned.
Forgive me if a similar thread may have been created recently, but I wanted to get a few things off my chest. Titanfall is a game that's been making a lot of noise as of late, with multiple E3 awards and all manner of praise from gaming publications. I just don't see the real reason for the unanimous praise and enthusiasm for this title.
Why is everybody so excited about it?
I think you need a tag, "COD fun police."
They aren't playing it because they hate it friend, they are playing it because the amount of fun that they are having outweighs everything else.
Anyhow, I will just throw in my two cents on the Titanfall hype. I personally think what happened was that the amazing hype from reviews, paid for or not, was confirmed by a higher percentage of people who have actually played it, outside of the industry, than normal.
Yeah, it'd look just as old and ropey as it does right now, but with less jaggies.
yay.
I hear, "Why is dis game so hype?" more than I hear, "Titanfall so fucking hype!!!".
People who have played it talk about how genuinely fun it is but I wouldn't really call that hyping. Just my opinion.
IW did pioneering work in creating a game that people couldn't put down imo. That just doesn't sit too well with me.
Maybe we should define hype:
Sounds pretty much like what 'people' have been saying about this game.
Draven (League of Legends champion) beat out Link (LoZelda protagonist) in a character popularity poll.
People seemed shocked and confused as to why. People who only play console games had never heard of Draven.
Right, Valve is a great example of this as they make games for an audience that doesn't always overlap now and thus for some people they might as well not exist (and they're going to take every opportunity to tell you that).
As for the bolded, Draven from League of Legends beat Link on GameFAQ's best character poll and some people got super upset despite them basically both being player avatars.
I don't see the forums flowing with titanfall hyperbole. I'm see a hell of a lot of I dont see what's so great comments. That's just my experience no reason to be a penis about it my friend. This is a lie and you know it. The people who don't like Titanfall are few especially in these threads when it's filled with just fans telling them their reason why.
The reason why you hear it so much is because you might be focusing on some underlying thought that there's a bigger reason for the hate that has nothing to do with the game itself.
How so?
Yes friend, I too think developers should stick to creating mediocre multi player games that I only want to play for a short amount of time./s
Could you imagine 1080p? Dizzam.
It´s a little drastic, but i agree with you.How about developers creating games that make you want to play for hundreds/thousands of hours because of compelling and deep gameplay rather than mindless score popups, unlocks, and aim assist that verges on autoaim and an overarching design philosophy that encourages the new age of adhd brainsucking videogaming?
Right, post release backlash usually isn't too uncommon.TLOU anti-hype is definitely a thing, although it was after release. I've personally been responsible for it in response to people saying things like how it "redefines how we think about games" and other hyperbole inappropriate for a corridor shooter with a passable plot.
Because CoD isn't a competitive FPS. Quake and Counterstrike are competitive games, CoD isn't.

Does MLG know this?!? This is huge news.
nice indepth analysis prof freud
did you actually play the game ?
Looks incredibly fun from what I've seen.
it'll be fun to not have to wade through hundreds of 'this game looks so boring why is anyone interested in it?' posts when titanfall 2 comes to ps4 as well
The bitching from people about Titanfall hype is about 7,000 times more annoying than the people who are actually excited about it. Please, go find something else to do.
