So how do you disable the helicopter convoys to loot them? Can you just shoot them down normally? Or will that fail the convoy?

Do you mean the on-road convoys that are protected by a chopper? You can shoot the helicopter down without failing the mission. Just have to manage taking that down and keeping up with the convoy if it takes off.

Game is magnificent even with a bit of jankiness. Actually love driving the cars and trucks. Feels about right. Also the sheer differences between each of the areas is amazing. The game is pure Ubisoft but the core game is so fun.

They have something special to build on here.

My opinion of the game is like yours. But i have to say the control of the helicopters and the planes are shit.

There's a convoy that I see flying across the map and it looks like it's just a helicopter by itself, unless I'm missing the truck it's escorting.

Depending on your drone skills/upgrades and planning ahead as far as range and time you could EMP the helicopter(s).
Hrm, I've ignored the drone for the most part... guess I gotta get that upgraded.

hold up, you can emp helicopters? game changer

Yeah, it's pretty awesome. I haven't yet gotten it to land so I can take it over though.

Still having a lot of fun with this game, on my 2nd character. The small DLC's (Inca Camina, Media Luna) are fun, and it's nice on a 2nd play-through to have them just incorporated as part of the game. Strange they don't/can't count towards completion though, but the little bit of extra game play is appreciated. I wonder if we'll get more mini-DLC in Monte Puncu and/or La Cruz?

I wonder if the actually big download DLC (Narco Road/Ghosts down or whatever) will take place there? Really curious how those will impact the game at large, as they're supposed to introduce more vehicles etc. I'm not sure if I'd prefer it to be it's own separate map, or built into the existing spaces. With Narco road being about infiltrating another Cartel, it wouldn't really make sense to be anywhere we've previously been, unless they somehow update the world to account for Santa Blanca being 'finished'. Not sure. Hope we hear something soon!

The simple-yet-complex game play cycle just has me hooked. Taking down an outpost, or a convoy, or whatever.. it's the same every time, but it's not. The enemy will scatter differently, maybe the help drops on top of the escort, maybe the helo flies away and never engages! Sometimes you can clear the base on full stealth, using just a pistol.. maybe you can sneak in and out undetected.. or maybe UNIDAD shows their damn face and you end up taking on multiple gunships just trying to get the SMG Compensator you'll-never-use-but-want-it-off-the-map..The game is this weird dichotomy of serene and intense. I love flying around and just admiring the visuals, but at the same time everything can go sideways in a second and it's super violent and awesome. Ahhh.

Some things I'd like to see (fixed & otherwise):

#1 Terrain/etc pop-in on Xbox One is really bad. I feel like it got worse with the 2.0 patch. I would like to see it fixed. Curious if it'll get a Scorpio patch, as the game can look fantastic on a high-end PC.

#2. Some of the low-poly models are laughably bad. I don't get why, as others are fine. On Xbox One, 600M seems to the mark it switches.

3VnkyGO.gif

#3. I want them.. no I *NEED* them to add in a Class-A uniform under clothing options. It also better have a metric-ton of medals on it. Make it happen, UBISOFT.

#4. There are a lot of options for the HUD, but a number of them turn off TOO many things, which makes it hard to pick between them. For example, I would like to use no markers so the enemies don't get marked, but still be able to place a market on the map for directional use, as it's REALLY hard to get around and navigate without anything on-screen at all. It's do-able, but more frustrating than difficult, which isn't ideal. I would also appreciate a "markers while enemy is in LOS" setting, where as long as the enemy was in a team members LOS, they could remain marked, disappearing once they go behind cover/etc. For coordination, I feel some level of markers is needed, since almost every Santa Blanca fighter looks identical "That one, over there, with the sub-machine gun, by the stack of tires." Also, turning off Ammo counter means you can't see what equipment you have selected, which makes it unusable.

#5. I would actually like it if they changed it so you could only change your weapon load out at ammo boxes (or a rebel base). Or at least make that an option. It's useful to switch guns at a moments notice, but it would be nice to have options.

#6. Vehicle and/or On foot controls being different. I usually remove the crosshairs since I don't need them on foot (I'm not spraying and praying), but then if I get in a vehicle with a weapon, I have no idea where I'm aiming (since it's ONLY over-the-shoulder/3rd person aiming). Would be nice to have a toggle for one or the other (or both). Maybe be able to tweak sensitivity for both as well.

#7. This is for GRW2 or whatever, but make camo count. Give us a visibility meter. Where standing on top of a ridge at noon wearing a white tank top, yellow cone on your head, shooting off a flare would be a "100".. maybe wearing appropriate camo in the shadows would bring you down to a 40 or something. Would be nice if this was optional as well, not everyone wants to have to worry about changing outfits.

Spent basically the entire game somewhat in the same outfit, but started experimenting with the outfit options, I had no idea they would be saved to whatever you select.

So now I have a bunch of outfits set for every time of terrain, and an all-black one for night ops. Maximum RP and looks cool as shit.

Game just keeps staying awesome, nowhere near getting bored of it.

The only lone helicopter missions I know of, are ones where you have to steal the chopper and an NPC might get in it in and fly away. Maybe you're seeing an icon specifically for convoys that have helicopter protection.

I might be wrong - there are still some parts of the map that are greyed out for me, but it would be an entirely new type of mission. Plus even with an EMP, I can't see a practical way of taking down a chopper without a major risk of it crashing.

The helicopters are only security for convoy trucks.

With the silencer off the HTI sniper rifle it can 1 or 2 shot any helicopters which makes them only a minor nuisance to me anymore.

The EMP is pretty unreliable for disabling vehicles from my experience even with the range upgrades. I only find it useful for opening automatic gates while on foot anymore.

Hated helicopters until I figured out how to actually fly them, then they were actually fun.

Yeah it took some time but I got the hang of choppers now and I actually really enjoy flying them, can manouver them pretty precise at full speed. Feels fucking badass to fly just over the trees or through canyons.

Planes however, still a drama.

helicopter drop location is ridiculous, open area right next to me, no, spawn it on the opposite site of the canyon.

also can I somehow highlight all the kingslayer files? I'm missing 1 and it is not marked on the map and I don't have ? locations any more.

I don't remember which province, but same thing happened to me and I progressed the main story line and got a video that counted as the last one.

Narco Road.. coming April 18th! (25th for non season pass holding peasants)

New targets, new vehicles, and a new approach to taking down the cartel are all coming soon in the Narco Road expansion for Ghost Recon Wildlands. In order to dismantle a smuggling ring led by the elusive El Invisible, you and your squad will have to infiltrate the gangs under his control and earn the respect of three new bosses. Each boss commands a gang with its own identity, including the thrill-seeking Kamikazes, the muscle car-loving Jinetes Locos, and the Santa Muerte-obsessed Death Riders.

You'll take on more than 15 new campaign missions, as well as four new types of side missions and racing challenges, all with the goal of earning fame and followers. The more followers you acquire, the more you'll ingratiate yourself with the gang bosses, and the closer you'll get to your goal. Along the way, you'll want to get comfortable with the new vehicles Narco Road is bringing to Bolivia. Muscle cars with nitro boosts, planes built for acrobatic flight, big chopper bikes, and hulking monster trucks will all be available for you to use as you please.

In addition to these four new vehicles types, Narco Road will introduce four outfits and nine weapons when it launches for season pass holders across all platforms on April 18 (or individual purchase for owners of the standard and deluxe versions of Ghost Recon Wildlands on April 25 for $14.99).

Narco Road will be preceded by a free title update – April 12 for consoles and April 14 for PC – that will introduce live season challenges and new rewards to Wildlands. The first themed-season, ”The Rise and Fall of Unidad," will challenge players to target Unidad operations. The challenges for the first season will refresh every Wednesday for six weeks, and reward players with up to three unique rewards per week.

15 missions.. sounds solid.

The title update sounds good.. Xbox Wildlands GAF/Taskforce people.. lets get cooking (tomorrow, El Pozolero style)!

Also.. Black Flag DLC!

C9JOmsBXsAMZJdd.jpg

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how Narco Road is integrated with the main game.

- Can you only play it after you beat the game?
- Will it take place in the same provinces as the main game?
- Where are the rest of the Santa Muerte people?
- etc etc etc.

I think if done right, it could be really cool.. and I hope the extra vehicles/weapons/etc can be used across the open sandbox world.

While I, personally, would prefer more tacticool stuff and "Ghost recon-y" stuff, I applaud additional content, and since the game is already tailored to 'making it your own', I think I'll be fine with this. I want more details on the Fallen Ghosts expansion too.

I took to helicopters imeaditly, but those fucking planes.......

Nothing scares me more then flying to an airstrip only to realize I'm perpendicular to it.

*Let me just turn and adjust the camera, oh god no where am I going!*

I've encountered that bug before, but I think with Beo and Veet.

Beo must be the vector. Put a bullet in his head (if the ever put FF in).

Big patch.. set it to download before I left for work..

I don't see anything about the rendering distance being fixed for XB1.. wonder if its any better?

All of that seems well and good I suppose. Will have to dig into it tonight.

I guess the weekly challenges don't start until the 18th.. but it looks like 5 'new' missions per week? 3 solo/co-op, 1 Task Force, and 1 overall community mission (guessing kill X amount of UNIDAD soldiers or something).

I played earlier after the patch and the most interesting thing I noticed is there is an individual menu option to play the Narco Road DLC. Its currently greyed out and not playable but I guess this indicates it may take place on its own map?

Oooooooo, really? Interesting.

I can't decide how I would prefer to do it.. on a new map, or part of the existing map. It doesn't seem like it would jive having it all together, but I wonder if that means you won't get access to any of the new vehicles or weapons in the original map? That would be kind of a bummer, unless the new map is the whole old map.

Wonder how co-op works.. so many questions! Praying to Santa Muerte for guidance!

The description for the 2nd DLC where you are evading enemies without your gear seems like it would have to be on its own map / contained area as well so we will see

I hadn't noticed any rendering issues before, but your post made me look out for them, post patch.

Unless I'm fooling myself, it seems worse than before. I was flying over a cocaine based with yellow ground texture, when it started to fill in with big green chunks.

I landed on a very small island - just big enough for two small choppers - and walking towards a small crate (think size of a portable drink cooler) I saw the objects inside it fizzle into being I as I got closer.

As for mission types, as Sparrows says hope they are scattered around the normal map, to give more reasons to visit previous mission sites.

There are already ramps and things in the world - or corrugated iron against road fences - so it'll be interesting to see if. They are part of race courses.

Yeah I noticed it after the 2nd patch, it doesn't appear to be any better (or worse) to my eyes.

Still feel like it was better at launch, but I guess there isn't a good way to test that now.

The achievements for Narco Road are up.. and they're all prefaced with:

"Operation Narco Road"

So... since Sueno was Operation Kingslayer, I am guessing the stories will not be intertwined. There is a unique selection option for Narco Road on the menu as well, so either it's a whole new area, or when you load into Narco Road, the map is updated/changed to remove the standard Santa Blanca stuff.

Curious how co-op/etc will work with that setup.

Finally i finished the game killing all the objectives and having the alternative ending. Can anyone tell me how is the other final? The "original".

I have to say i liked the story a lot and how was planned. And the informative videos are very cool.

If you put your weapon away and tap the right bumper, the camera will zoom out. Allows you to see quite a lot more around you and seems to be a toggle; pulling weapon will zoom back in and putting away will zoom out again.

Probably 60hrs in and just found that out by accident.

A short story featuring Ubisoft:

Booted up the game CONTINUE (hardest difficulty).

Spawned at a safehouse next to a road.

Unidad truck rolls up 1 second after spawn.

Instantly murder all the rebels and open fire on me.

Teammates pick me up.

Get mowed down again.

Game loads me up in the same spot AGAIN.

Happens AGAIN.

Game loads me up in the same spot, sprint downhill.

Somehow they see me.

Kill me twice.

Load up in a completely different area.

What's that? Engaged by unidad?

Unidad pops up out of nowhere next to me in an open field and kill me.

> Menu
> Quit to Desktop

Been playing solo with a very limited HUD. Just ammo/items, intel and notifications.

That means no aiming reticle and no markers (and thus no sync shots), and man, I'm thinking this is the way this is meant to be played. You can still drone up and see which enemies are where, but the fight comes down to using your eyeballs, optics and ears.

You've got to check your targets more - Unidad from Santa Blanca, Santa Blanca from Rebels, VIPs from soldiers, civilians from sicarios. Your allied AI messages are super meaningful, letting you know when patrols are nearby or when everything looks clear (though you can't depend upon this 100%)

And playing SMG+AR means I've got to go a little more aggro than I would've otherwise. Instead of long range sniping to whittle down a defense, I need to move in closer, and thats where the SMG shines. I still run quiet when at all possible, but I find myself taking more risks. No sync shots means I've got to do all of the killing myself unless all hell breaks loose.

No-HUD also allows you to see the game in all of its glory - the vast expanses and claustrophobic jungles - and those landscape and environments make even more difference when you don't have enemy target markers to rely upon. I've found myself switching vision modes a lot more because of this - using thermal more often. Just feels right.

Warts and all I'm loving this game the more I spend time with it.

Edit: Took some shots too.

Seriously guys what the fuck is this bug where a Unidad patrol instantly engages me every time I spawn and fast travel and continues to send waves of unidad after me????

WHAT THE FUCK

Another player in here had that bug. Not sure what fixed it, might be worth a google.

In my third area now - just a three star zone - and I'm surprised by how much fun I'm having (playing entirely solo).

A question for those much further in - should I make a run to the 5 star area where you get the HTI so I can have a great sniper rifle now, or is the natural progression of getting slightly better weapons just by progressing methodically through increasingly difficult zones satisfying enough?

Id say its worth going to get it as early as possible. You should also go find the max zoom (Tactical T5x?) sniper scope in Koani early on too.

I don't really like the HTI except for destroying vehicles. Prefer higher rate of fire/better handling. I used the SVD almost the entire game, is perfect for headshotting 3-4 people in a squad before they even take cover.

Most of my solo time has been spent visiting each province and running intel missions. I get to the point where there are no ? symbols and all weapons and weapon parts are on the map. Then I might grab one or two and then head to the next province. S'been fun as hell running these little stealth ops, noting SAM sites, stealing vehicles and then moving on the next. As of last night I think I'm pretty much fully equipped. (HTI and semi-auto sniper rifles with Tx5 scope, TAR w/ grenade launcher, 50 round clip, digital scope and range finder, P90 with handling build, para sight and laser)

Am saving the main missions for co-op.

Pro tip for those considering running without HUD/markers - gather some of those laser optics so you can still get some accurate hipfire using the lasers in lieu of the aiming reticle.

The lack of mid-mission checkpoints is brutal. I just spent 45 minutes on the El Cerebro mission, only to fail in the cheapest way right at the end. Got within feet of El Cerebro to interrogate him - only had to take out his final bodyguard, but a stray bullet hit a piece of electronics in the room and the tiny explosion killed El Cerebro. Fail mission, start the whole thing over again, starting with the tedious, insta-fail tailing section.

Turn console off.

I had the same reaction with some multi phase infiltration mission in the south east. Starting to get tired of this.

The checkpoint system seems hit or miss. I've had graag checkpoints mid-mission, but zaterdag I had ons in San Mateo (I think) where I had to integratie a supervisor of an oil files and the go to a second location. Did the first half, took quite a while, messed up the second part and had to redo the entire fucking mission. Twice. That just sucks.
