Trailer: Tomb Raider Movie feat. Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft

Meh? Looks somewhat unnecessary and like a relatively cheap production. I don't need to see a downgraded movie version of Tomb Raider 2013.

From the first look it looks like I movie I would watch for one evening, if it's on tv or available on demand or something like that. Not bad, but not really special either.

btw wasn't there also a similar line/scene in one of the reboot games? Anway that's your final shot right there

I think the best way to do a Tomb Raider movie, is to embrace the Indiana Jones copy cat that it is, and make it a jolly experience.
Enough with this lost daddy tape shit, where she needs to save the world from evil, 'cause her father was about to.

Just have Lara Croft explores tombs, 'cause she loves to, make it light hearted like the first Mummy, and the Indiana Jones movies.
Nobody cares about her drama.

The old TR movies were light hearted, but pushed way too far on the cheese factor, and still had the awkward daddy backstory.

The 2013 reboot ended with her picking up two pistols and shooting the bad guy.
But in the sequel she didn't use them.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think Vikander is an amazing actress and I like the franchise so I'll probably check this out. She got ripped for the role so I admire the dedication.

Looks terrible. Not every story has to be about the fate of humanity. They should’ve kept this movie more grounded and if it did well, upped the stakes for the sequel. I know it’s following the 2013 game, but eh, we’ll see how it reviews.

Isn't that ship scene directly from the reboot? Jump and all haha

The plane too, the tree log too and that platforming sequence in the cave... Trinity was the threat of Rise of the Tomb Raider aswell.

They just adapted the two games in one movie lol. Looks kinda fun tho !

Story looks like Rise of the Tomb Raider ion the island of the 2013 game

Hopefully the Uncharted movie is just that.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Wonder if the end of the movie will be about
Samurai "monsters" in modern times

This looks super bad. Another movie with painfully fake looking stunts in fake looking locations and obstacles. Just looks fake and bad.

So they found a worse writer than Rhianna Pratchett for the movie, apparently. The story is all sorts of generic.

This movie is gonna bomb.

Rhianna Pratchett didn't come up with the story for the 2013 game, though. Most of that was in place before she joined the team.

this. this forced "origin" stuff in the games and movie just doesn't work. it's like she was forced into the life of treasure hunting and tomb raiding rather than actually enjoying it. i just miss her old demeanor. yes, the way she looked back then wouldn't work these days, but the way she handled herself and spoke certainly would. lara croft should be a badass, not some vulnerable young woman, vulnerability ruined the character imo.

I like Alicia. i will go see the movie.

I also liked the last two games.

Anjelina was too hot for the role IMO. She has that kind of supernatural almost fake beauty that disturbs me.

Besides the ''TOOM,TOOM'' every 5 seconds,I liked it and love how it follows the reboot a lot...liked the '' I'll take two '' line for her trademark pistols also hehe...

You know I always thought the best trick the 2013 reboot did was transform Lara Croft from a normal human being trapped in a terrifying situation into the original Lara Croft - a sadistic, 'shoot first' sociopath. Starting with her surviving the first few encounters of the game, powering up the comms tower and shooting lots of mercenaries - like it's a gradual transformation over the course of the game.

The silver desert eagles was pretty much the point that the transformation is complete - it's on par with Naked Snake refusing to shake the president's hand at the end of MGS3.

And then the sequel forgot about her character arc - like every Naked Snake game after MGS3. Ah well.

That was annoying to watch. Especially in the end when they start cutting at every beat. Expectations for this are set pretty low.

Props to them recreating her dad’s office almost exactly as it was in Rise. Heh.

Really only considering seeing this to see how Vikander nails it but if it’s not just the 2013 game it’ll be every story beat about an explorer racing mercs for a Macguffin and, eh.

At least they didn't base the story off the even worse story of Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Looks like a mix to me.

Stranding on an island learning to survive -> Tomb Raider 2013

Fighting Trinity and searching for the same artifact her father did -> Rise of the Tomb Raider

It seems to me that they've fixed the dogshit characterization of Lara from the games, but did nothing to fix the forced acting.

You don't need to be empathetic towards me.
Lmao. Looks fucking terrible.

"The fate of humanity is in your hands".

It hits every possible shitty action genre cliché. Garbage.

Then you are watching the wrong movies. Get outta here with that stuff.

The movie looks like a TR movie. Not sure what you all were expecting? At least the lead fits the part.

To me the lead doesnt really fit the part though.

Her movements and facial expressions seem really awkward and forced. The bad wire work and CGI amplifies the effect of the awkwardness.

she's got an amazingly athletic physique, but The way she runs, holds her guns and shoots her bow - it's like she's not an athlete and never used a weapon before.

Its just weird to me...

The IGN interview with Vikander is good. I feel like those involved knew the material fairly well, at least better than Uncharted "family of thieves" proposed plot from awhile back.

I'll definitely check this out.

This.

The BTS footage shows that even though she's thin, she's fit and has some muscle on her.
Good enough for my suspension of disbelief. We'll see how the movie turn out.
This is a video game adaptation, she doesn't have to be as realistic as Gina Carano in Haywire (which was great).

Link to the bts footage? I keep missing it.

Looks okay and I really like Vikander but a shame it's based off TR9. Wonder if she'll say I can do this a lot. Or whether I'll have to adjust the volume for Lara's porn noises.
