Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Teaser Trailer (Bumblebee Sequel)

I give it 10 years before we get a live acrion (well, CGI mostly) remake of the 80's movie, complete with Galvatron because they really seem to have NO FUCKING CLUE where to go with this series.
I wish I had time, talent, and money. I'd do a complete CGI remake of the original movie. Scene by scene, frame by frame. Keep all the original sound and music and just lay it over the remake.

Then I'd send it out over the internet for free.

Why there's never been a proper G1 movie since is beyond me.

You can still see little remnants of the prequel stuff in the movie if you really look for it (like the old Camaro), but they added enough in the reshoots to make it a reboot. In the movie Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots arrive on Earth in the 80s and not present day in like in the Shia movie and Prime is the cab-over semi with the G1 design and not the Bayformers design.
There are also rumors that this is going to be a kina-sorta "crossover" with the bayverse but don't quote me on that. Most notable rumor is that

=Scourge is actually Bayverse prime who is now a servant of Unicron. Or at least an alternate universe version of prime]

Because that would just be pandering to nostalgia from 40+ year olds. You cant make a blockbuster based on that demographic.

I thought this movie was a sequel to Bumblebee. This new product placement Mirage looks like one of those crappy Bayformers.

It's a sequel to Bumblebee, set in the 90s. Bumblebee rebooted the universe showing that Prime and the Autobots arrived on Earth in the 1987.

As someone who does enjoy 1, 3, and to a lesser extent 4 (2 and 5 have a few good elements but a lot of crap especially 5), nah, Bumblee was much better than all of them in my book.

This looks great, my issue is Beast Wars could have easily warranted its own film(s), and of all the Maximals to leave out, they leave out the two fan favorites, Dinobot and Rattrap, and keep everyone else? They could have cut out the Autobots except for Optimus and Bumblebee and kept the entire Maximal team. And why is a film adapting Beast Wars including the Terrorcons, AFAIK save for one comic series reimagining they’re not connected to Beast Wars, and the antagonists should be all Predacons. Come on, we need (Predacon) Megatron (“YES!”), Waspinator, and Blackarachnia up in here!

It still looks promising, but man there are some misfires in what they’re focusing on. Hopefully a sequel will rectify this.

Also, small nitpick, but best Arcee is easily the Transformers Prime version. The G1 version looks nice too, but it would have been really hype if they had gone with the Prime version.

I agree with your ranking of bayformers. It's just I felt like bumblebee movie tried to lean more on story and it was atleast in bayformers not the main point or asset. I remember rough outline of all bayformers but i can only remember some things from bumblebee. So it was quite forgettable for me.

I think Bumblebee shows what works better to start off with a film. The Bayformers films started immediately with a bunch of Autobots and Decepticons, but unlike the various cartoons where they have tons of episodes to develop them, here there’s only so much runtime in comparison and so a lot of characters got underutilized. I’d say Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, Jetfire, and to a lesser extent Ironhide, Ratchet, and the Autobots in 4 were the only ones who got a decent amount of screen time. And sometimes even screen time didn’t matter, Starscream was in three films yet wasn’t anything like Starscream or even really had a personality at all.

The Bumblebee film felt like a redo to start off small but lay the groundwork for something bigger. As such, I think it works better as a film than the prior ones even if it feels less like usual Transformers but again, film and TV series have different pros and cons, so I think Bumblebee was a better attempt at what works for a first film. And as I said, now they can start to expand. This upcoming film seems to be doing just that. Hopefully they don’t go too much at once but still, fingers crossed.

Wow. That new trailer makes this look fun AF. I want to see what they do with Unicron, though.
Looks better than End Game. :messenger_sunglasses:

Insecticons, and Unicron. I hate that I want to see this.
I'm ashamed that I want to see an ENTIRE ROCKET BASE AND TRAIN transform into Titan Omega Supreme....and all the clueless humans working inside to disappear, never to be seen again :p

Fuck it, have an entire aircraft carrier turn into a transformer to fight skyscrapers that also transform, just as a shout out to that toy scene in BIG :p

A bit with Unicron over Earth...

My childhood nightmare come to life.

Edit: And just like that I had one last night. :messenger_confounded:

The opening to the '86 movie scared me shitless back then. I wonder if they'll do something similar and traumatize a new generation of fans.

It looks like Bayformer, but with out the hot chicks. Will watch it on Hulu…..

Say what you will about Bay, but he has a great eye for action scene composition and knows what pleases the crowd. I even like his super cheesy humour. If he's reined in by superiors like with Transformers 1 and not the sequels, then I think he could make something just as entertaining again.

I'm glad he's not directing or writing it anymore. Bumblebee was a great course correction! Can't wait for this!

I miss Bays casting chops for females… that’s what I’m missing in these movies.
