Weird that the PS3 is hitting its stride during the year of Linux on the desktop.
Lol... that made me spit my coffee on my screen.

Hmm...he didn't deny the existence of a PS4, just said they don't want to announce it.
People are ready for new consoles, the enthusiast press is merely reflecting that. The one time when it's good that they're slaves to their audience. So now confirming lack of any next-gen news is next gen news?
This "next-gen!next-gen!next-gen!" click-whoring is completely out of control right now.

I wish they wouldn't let Tretton do interviews.
He's that proverbial member of the family you should keep hidden.
Where do you get the "people are ready for new consoles"? On GAF, where everyone has way too much free time and owns probably all current-gen consoles?
Tretton is a nice guy.
He's doing a nice job at E3.
Mentioning the enthusiast press should make the audience clear. I'm not talking about the mainstream who are only aware of new consoles when they see one being played at their gamer friend's house.Where do you get the "people are ready for new consoles"? The vast majority of people and Joe public are probably happy with their phones and the occasional FIFA (Madden for you us guys) game on the 360. They're not the enthusiasts, they're not the early adopters a new generational launch is targeting.Utter nonsense. The vast majority of people couldn't give a shit and are happy with what they have. GAF loves new shiny, and sites love hits from GAF, we're all on this bullshit merry-go-round.
In the meantime Joe Public is blissfully unaware. At least until anything official comes out, then there is a danger that sales of the existing gen will be affected as people might wait. Thats why we won't see anything official until at least 6 months before launch. MS and Sony couldn't give a shit about GAF-hype, just keeping sales going.
But next-gen starts when Sony says so?So Sony plans on being late for next gen again? That worked so well for the original Xbox and PS3
It's just simple fact, the Sony brand in general, never mind playstation, is nowhere near as strong as it was in 2005-6. Their products are increasing seen as overpriced, with negligible improvements over mass market offerings by competitors, at least in practical terms, to anything but the enthusiast, and even then only a subsection.
Nintendo both remerging as the go-to brand for causals, regardless of how much the wii eventually dropped off and the dark horse of apple potenitally entering the home console space with an APTV it would be suicide to even think of releasing a console later than Microsoft. Even a graphical powerhouse that outperformed the wiiu and 720 combined, at a cheaper price point and better launch titles wouldn't be enough.
"The PS3 is just hitting its stride"
I think I've heard Jack say this enough times that it could be his catch phrase.
First you say this:
But then you say this:
I MAKE WINDU WAIKA BUT U NO LIKE, U SAY MAKE TWILIGHTO SWORDU. I MAKE TWILIGHTO SWORDU, YOU SAY MAKE WINDU WAIKA.
It matters little now how well ps3 does in the future..the damage to the playstation brand by Nintendo and microsoft is irreparable.
...just as it's unlikely (perhaps less so, but still unlikely) MS would make a next gen announcement this year imo. ...
It's the most important region for every profitable video game company.
Did you just get into gaming this generation? It's funny how some look at the current situation and automatically assume it's going to continue in future generatrions.
Just ignore the fact that gaming companies have gone fron top of the heap to bottom, and vice versa throught the history of the industry.
I think they will, thats the cheapest way to steal some thunder from Nintys console launch.
If sony are smart they should release a moderately more powerful console than the ps3 (not super high end ultra expensive) with more rams and same programing since all developpers are now familiar with it, be 100 % compatible with ps3 games, and release it in the price range of 250 $ - 300 $, et voila success. no more 599 $ or even 399 $ consoles, no more 2 jobs bullshit, no more stupid arrogant quotes,
"Next-gen doesn't start until we hit our stride. On the previous gen."
Or you could just ignore that Sony as a company is floundering compared to its former greatness and can't afford to be anything than top of the pack next gen.
I'm not looking at the current situation. That's the whole point. The ps3 is doing fine now, but how long did it take to get here? Do you honestly think Sony can afford that again?
