They really are going to need to do a LOT of work to make Rock/Cena a worthy main event and worthy of year long hype. I have exactly zero interest in the match, and if they don't do anything to change the "build" for it before WM I may just turn off the PPV once the match comes on.
It has no heat whatsoever. Sure they can't have it boiling hot all year long, but there's no heat or fight in the "feud". Just talking completely basic wrestling terms now, no conideration of the status of the wrestlers involved or the business or the company. There needs to be a heel and a face, and there needs to be some actaully strong emotions put into the promos.
They're both faces, and tame and lifeless faces at that, and they don't have any beef other than "let's have a match! ok! you are the woman! no, you are the one who is a woman! twitter twitter twitter!".
The videos for them aren't any better. It looks like one of those celebrity WM matches, where a Hollywood actor is going to face a WWE wrestler, and the build is nothing more than "this match is going to happen because we said it's going to happen".
Make one of them a full blown heel and give them some actual wrestling storyline to build some heat.
Hint: Cena is going to be booed out of the building by that Miami crowd no matter what. Take advantage of some fantastic built in heat from the crowd.
Has Dolph, Cody, or Barrett won/do much since the Rumble? Seems every time I see them in a match they're losing.
Dolph was in the World Title match in 2011's Rumble show, neglected afterwards. Sinking feeling he's headed in that direction again.
There's not really any room for Dolph on RAW right now. The main event scene on RAW is diabolical right now, and the WWE title will be wrapped up in Punk/Jericho til WM. I sense he's a MITB contestant.
The other two, they've got nothing to do until the WM build starts for real after the EC PPV. Cody probably going to face Goldust, which should have some cool promos, and Barrett, I have no idea. I though they might keep his feud with Orton going til WM, but it seems to have died out. Maybe he's going in the MITB match. It's pretty ridiculous they can't conjure up more than one main event feud on SD, considering they have a good 6/7 guys who could be in one, and Barrett is going to be WHC within the year, most likely. You'd think they'd be making sure he had a good feud going at all times, but then again, they let Sheamus flounder for months because of their mid card deficit.
