I can't help but imagine this all started with Trump sitting in a meeting where somebody brought up the need to provide clean drinking water to the people of PR only to have Trump say "They're an island right? They're surrounded by water!"... only to have somebody politely explain why that doesn't work.

So now that he learned a thing, he wants to show off the thing he learned in his statements.

Why was Puerto Rico such a mess to begin with? Is it because they aren't a state? You think there would be a lot of opportunity to basically make it Hawaii in the Carribbean

I can only imagine that trump keeps bringing up the debt because he has come up with some way to benefit from this situation and is just waiting for the right moment to bring it up.
