Hate towards the Ubisoft is nothing new, it reached peak around AC Unity, 2 years ago, and since then it never stopped. In every thread where Ubisoft is mentioned there is at least one hate post. And i really don't get it why. They did and still do some stupid things like bullshots and graphic downgrades (in my opinion they didn't do this since Watch_Dogs and Siege reveal) and they tend to do some things over and over again but so do many other developers. I also can understand that their games can get boring to many people but that is personal thing, some people enjoy them some not that is fine.

But in the other hand Ubisoft really does do many great things that are not appreciated that much. They are still most diverse AAA publisher of today. When you think about what they release in 6 month period it is kinda ridiculous. If we look their schedule from December last year they released one new IP (Steep), they will release second new IP (For Honor) this month, after that in March we will get Ghost recon Wildlands and probably by May they will release South Park Fractured but Whole. four games and four totally different genres.

They constantly greenlight smaller projects like Child of Light, Valiant Hearts, Werewolves Within, Grow Home/Grow Up... Their new Season Pass models for R6 Siege and now For Honor are really great, they are one of the first companies that went out and told that their MP VR games will be cross-platform. They push tech too, AC Unity in my opinion is still unbelievable achievement in video game rendering, they are one of the first to use checkerboard rendering before it was even hot (Rainbow Six Siege), their animations are one of the best in the industry (For Honor for example), they did really interesting solution for fast movement in VR with Eagle Flight...

They are probably many more things that they do great but still people are sh*tting on them left and right. Me and everybody else wants them to do some tings better than they are doing now, and we should demand that and critique them when they do stupid things but in the end they in most cases don't do anything different that many other publishers that get free pass (and some of them even do worse things) and yet i have feeling that they get most of the hate.

This kinda it is rant thread because i am really tired reading those kind of posts only in Ubisoft threads and i hope that i am not the only one ho feels this way (if i am the only one then i am sorry for creating this thread :D). Also you can call me fanboy or whatever you want i just don't like to see good things going unnoticed and i especially don't like to see wishes that company with 10K employees goes down.

I mostly agree with this. They done some fucked up stuff in the past, and they will do some more for sure, but overall I think they are a pretty cool publisher and I love a bunch of their games.

Too much open but some good things. They always mess something up and I'm still waiting for my beta key email.

I liked some of the missions in far cry, when they are deep and more linear in design. But creed games start getting really sterile.

I have nothing against Ubi. Enough games i like from them and they published Brothers in Arms back in the day. But sometimes they do some weird stuff and i dont like some elements in some games. And yeah Uplay. But he every publisher has something. First everyone hated EA. Now Ubi is the target and next its someone else.

I've liked pretty much every Ubisoft open-world game I've played, except Watch Dogs 2.

Funny, exact opposite. I've hated all the AC games and am enjoying Watch Dogs 2. South Park, Child of Light (or any UbiArt engine game), Grow Home, and ZombiU all excellent games as well.

Bought one game of them in the past 3 years (Child of Light) and I can't get it to run on my PC to save my life.

Don't hate them though, it's just that apart from CoL (that I can't get to run), Rayman (Which is pretty dead at this point) and Prince of Persia (again, dead) they haven't released a single game I'm interested in in the past decade or so. I can't even say they're bad, but just looking at them makes me yawn.

I don't hate Ubisoft, but many of their games really aren't for me. For Honor and Ghost Recon Wildlands are too online focused for my liking. Looking forward to South Park though, although I didn't play the first game. Also really enjoyed the trial of Watch Dogs 2 despite being disappointed with the first game, I'll grab it when it's $20. Used to like Assassins Creed, although I'm burned out on it. Didn't even bother with Syndicate, hopefully the new one shakes things up. Never played a Far Cry game either outside of like an hour of 2

And I agree with Alpha Phoenix, new Splinter Cell at E3 pls. As long as Splinter Cell remains quality I can never hate Ubisoft

I think Ubisoft are terrible story tellers and their edgy writing feels too try hard.
They like morally grey characters but it ends up making most of their characters unlikable instead of deep.
Their workforce is talented and impressive, but they put things out way to fast so it lacks polish.
They aren't the worst, EA suffers from these issues on a greater scale and some of their games like Far Cry are very fun, just a few things I'd like them to change so they appeal more to my tastes

I like their IPs but they need to cut lose their formulaic open world gameplay which helps them churn out yearly releases.

I hate their big AAA output, I absolutely adore their lower budget output like Child of Light or Rayman Legends.

It's dumb really.

Most of the complaint aren't even backed up by anything, you just have to look at how people respond to Crossing Eden.

He backed everything is talking about with facts and even visual representation of the subject at hand and all he gets as a response is "Lol Guillemot stop trying so hard lolololol".

I like Ubisoft games and I acknowledge they have an issue of not providing accurate videos of their games before release.

Now Wildlands beta is just so bleh. Not what I expected.

Well I just applied to be a Web Developer for them in Dusseldorf and didn't get the job so I'm a little salty.

Edit: Seriously though, the smaller projects you mentioned were all they had going at the time. Otherwise they were at the peak of their generic open world formula with multiple AC's, Far Crys, Watch Dogs and even games like The Crew. But you are right that the period of Steep to South Park is pretty great.

I mean they still put out some trashy games, I don't really get the "Unity was the breaking point" thing. I (stupidly) purchased Far Cry Primal last year on a steam sale for like $20 or something and it's all the normal Ubisoft design shit as any other Ubisoft game.

Their problem is they make a 5 hour game and copy/paste it to the breaking point, that to the point you get about 10 hours in the regret and mind numbing tedium of what you're playing starts making you want to claw your eyes out.

I'd say they're still pretty guilty of 'softer' bullshot, but pretty much everyone is guilty of that and because of how dev works it's kind of hard to avoid. I will agree they've improved a lot these last couple years (notably regarding diversity), but also they still (and will probably always) seriously fuck up in places, so I can't hold anything against anyone who might feel burnt and might express some "hate" (in fact, I see that as a good thing), provided they're not shit-posting.

I don't hate Ubisoft. If anything, I've liked more of their games in recent years. Like I enjoy the Division, Watch Dogs 2 and AC Syndicate.

I know some people who hates everything about Ubisoft and their games and when I asked why, I got called a "corporate fanboy", so yeah there's definitely a hatred towards Ubisoft, despite some of their recent games being good.

That being said, I have no love for Ubisoft at the same time. They've done some pretty embarrassing shit over the past few years. Like all of 2014 involving Ubisoft that's not Far Cry 4 was a mess.

Funny, exact opposite. I've hated all the AC games and am enjoying Watch Dogs 2. South Park, Child of Light (or any UbiArt engine game), Grow Home, and ZombiU all excellent games as well.
To me it's just impossible to not compare WD2 to GTAV, and GTAV is better in almost every single way.

I would love to hate them. That would mean that they were doing something to get a reaction. With Ubisoft it is just this boring indifference I feel.

I never hated them. They created some of the best games Ive ever played: Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends, Assasins Creed Unity, to name a few.

ACU did it for me too. Complete garbage. Black Flag was fun in it's own right but I was thoroughly invested in the series, and they've done nothing to further the series at all. Was an extreme let down. I skipped Syndicate after preordering every release since AC2.

I'll try the next one after I read some reviews. We'll see what they decide to do with it.

On the other hand Far Cry Primal flopped too, and I'm hearing Watch Dogs 2 was trash... so... let's just say Ubisoft went from being one of my favorite studios to one who I don't trust anymore.

They have made some really good games especially in the past like splinter cell and Prince of persia both of which I hope for sequels. But they have milked that open world formula of theirs so fucking much I can't stand another game from them in that style if they try making something new I will try it but if they keep making those boring ass open world games with a checklist then I won't be buying them.

Often janky and unpolished games but that is a widespread phenomena in gaming these days. I think that they were hurt bad when they annualised all their franchises. Quality and innovation plateaued. More Splinter Cell though? Yes please!

I love Ubisoft!!!

Can't wait for For Honor and the return of their open world formula in Ghost Recon Wildlands. Only played the tutorial of Watch Dogs 2 and not a fan of it not having the Ubisoft open world formula. Will play through it eventually though. Out of the 36 games that I completed this generation, 8 of them were published by Ubisoft and doesn't include Watch Dogs 2 or the ACC India and ACC Russia games. Basically, every 1 in 4 games give or take is from Ubisoft.

It's just the low hanging fruit.

For example, Ubitowers will always be Ubitowers because everyone knows what you mean by that, even though Watch Dogs 2 didn't really have them.

It also helps that it's funny and catchy, like Horizon's Ubisaurs.

Don't think about it too much, it's just people expressing discontent with generic AAA open world game design, not specifically their games.

Though I understand it can get tiring when you just want to discuss a game they made with people who actually care about it. It is tiring.

I wouldn't say I hate Ubisoft, but I am naturally cautious of pretty much any game they put out. ACU and Watch_Dogs were both games I looked forward to playing and they let me down tremendously. That and they just don't seem to know how to craft a competent multiplayer game...at least not at the start.

The Division was a game that proved mediocre at first but has supposedly gotten better over time, I'll have to reinstall it and find out. Currently in the beta for Ghost Recon so hopefully that goes well.

They used to be my favorite developer during the early 2000's, but their yearly open world games feel bland to me. I'd prefer if they made something like the pc version of rainbow six 3 raven shield again.

They went a little overboard on their open-world formula. Otherwise, yeah they're not nearly as bad as GAF would have you think.

- Their games are not very good
- Their AAA games are way too samey
- They popularized the bland, paint-by-numbers AAA open-world game that's fucking everywhere (and is fucking terrible)
- They have a long history of bullshitting about their games (bullshots, fake MP video footage, downgrades, and even reverse bullshots)
- Releasing pathetically unfinished games like AC: Unity
- Ridiculously long credits (seriously, fuck off)
- Aisha Tyler
- uPlay
- Their games are really just not very good

Yeah, I don't care for Ubisoft and I honestly do understand the hate, sorry OP. I like Rayman Legends and Valiant Hearts, but that's about it.

Ubisoft got bad rep because until recently they never really innovated...every open world game from Far Cry to Assassin's Creed had the same basic layout and gameplay mechanics- unlock towers, collecting a bunch of useless crap from around the map, uninspired combat etc...only recently did they change up their usual formula with For Honor and Watch Dogs 2 (even Ghost Recon Wildlands) which got them a lot of praise online

Can't remember the last ubisoft game I played...Rayman Legends? Watchdogs? Far Cry Primal? Kinda bored with most of their IPs, but looking forward to Ancel's new stuff.

Never hated them. I do think they were churning out some franchises too frequently, but I just played the ones that appealed to me. If you were buying stuff like Assassin's Creed every year and then complain about them not innovating then you only have yourself to blame. They respond to sales numbers so speak with your wallet.

I don't hate them. I just think they willfully dilute any of their personality to drudge out another fucking boring open world game. Watch_Dogs 2 is practically a miracle in how it was allowed to have any kind of voice...
