Christ these are plain and ugly as fuck. They look like bootleg power ranger outfits. Sad that we won't be getting any good RVCA walkout shirts now :(

this is absolutely garbage

There goes the essence of the sport. There is something special about watching a dude with 2 sponsors to getting spotted all over with them or getting huge sponsors. I feel like this changes everything for the sake of greed. Also, how are the smaller guys going to get paydays now? This can really hurt any up and coming fighters(I am assuming this here).

naw this really hurts motivation to fight and shit. brendan schaub was talking about it and its not worth getting punched in the head for only 10k but the thing is he has something to fall back on now. some fighters dont and will have to take it

No banners, no outside sponsors. Everyone but a few are taking a gigantic paycut.

Even chumps like Brendan Shaub were pulling $100k+ in sponsorship money.

This is fucked up.

Hey, remember when CM Punk left WWE coincidentally right before the launch of the WWE network and the adjusted payouts?

History's totally going to repeat here.

I don't really get it. So does that mean people like mighty mouse can't have xbox on his shorts and like John Jones loses his Nike sponsorship?

Won't the ufc actually lose money from loss of sponsor numbers?

They were annoyed because they didn't see a cut- it was supplemental income for the fighters.

This whole thing is incredibly similar to what WWE did following WCW's collapse re: treating performers as cogs in a corporate wheel.

Basically.

The issue with combat sports is a delicate one. You want fighters to have some autonomy, but not too much, then we get stuff like Pac/Mayweather past their primes.

It's a delicate balance, but Dana seems to going to the other directions fierce.

UFC has the clout and recognition, but other promotions can challenge them.

You can't have any sponsors other than Reebok at UFC sponsored events. No more Xbox. JJ already lose his Nike sponsorship. They can have other sponsors, but can't show/use them at UFC events. But really, who would sponsor someone if their product can't be seen on TV?

The fighters will lose tons of money, yes.

So is there any talk of a UFC fighter strike over this one?

Seriously....this seems like something people would strike over.

This will be in addition to the purse money they get for actually fighting though, won't it?

The issue is that the merchandising/TV rights stuff pulls in a TON of guarnteed money. But it's money that doesn't last if you don't do the upkeep on the main product- and they're failing at that part HARD.

When is cm punk debuting anyways? They were supposed to have something scheduled by now, no? Camp going that poorly?

Reducing his fighters income for a 6 year/70M deal. Dana wtf are you thinking because it damn sure aint about the money.

That is a fucking TERRIBLE deal.
I think that even includes the cost of the merch for the fighters to wear!

They need to mandate the Reebok shirts, but still allow sponsors on the shirts and banners. Otherwise they're gonna get tore the fuck up
