Ultra Street Fighter IV trailer

I like the stages they are putting in. That is one thing I really liked about SFxT before I got rid of it, the stages were nice.

A 3 hour story mode with just 1 path to go through where fights you control many times do not even matter is not something I am excited about.
As stupid the Blazblue or Melty blood story is, varied paths depending on choices and outcome of fights makes it interesting to go through.
Single player mode in Deception was also better

Welcome back Cammy.

Gems Chen will still complain

They mentioned new mechanics.

I am really hoping for 3rd Ultras as 2014 seems a long time just to add in these stages and characters since they are using preexisting assets. I'm not complaining about their use, but wondering why it would take so long. I'm fine with Capcom porting over SFxT stuff, it'll be put to better use in SF4.

Also, glad that one of the panels mentioned unblockables and that they will be investigating it. Really hoping there is a simple solution to them and they are taken out.

My friend will be pleased.

If she got that, it means she got some major nerfs to go with it.

I'd rather have given Cammy's lesser tools buffs and nerfed the crap out of Cannon Strike instead- make her play more like her ST form. ST Cammy felt more fun to me.

Damage and stun was reduced on hard attacks.

They probably nerfed that to Akuma levels now. She'll probably need at least 3 successful dive kick combos to stun now. I think it's a fair trade off. They want to preserve her play style without letting her blow you up in two combos. Same goes for Ibuki, she'll need to blow meter to keep her vortex going.

If they nerf Akuma at all, I'd prefer they nerf his defensive options. Keep the vortex intact, but damn it, make him deal with our pressure the same way we have to deal with his.

Meh, it's more laziness to me instead of creating new ones or updating classic stages.

Welcome back Cammy.

I'm kinda pissed they would introduce that back from Vanilla Super, but they are nerfing her damage and stun so it looks like it's a good tradeoff.

I think there's an interesting psychological/marketing thing going on with how many people react to Street Fighter DLC versus other game DLC. Other games get update DLC, be it map packs for something like CoD or Halo, or new characters/areas for Borderlands or new quests in Skyrim or whatever, but I've never heard anyone refer to those as separate games. Never heard anyone ask why they kept making Skyrims, and listing each DLC as a different Skyrim. I wonder if part of it has to do with the history, back when SF2 was coming out DLC didn't exist so each update was a full priced new game, combined with the way they add to the title with each update. Skyrim+that vampire dlc isn't called Super Skyrim: Vampire Edition, even though the name changes are completely superficial.

I wonder if it'd benefit Capcom to stop adding to the name w/ DLC updates, say if they release SF5 they just call it SF5 forever even though they continue to add new stuff just like they're doing now. Instead of calling this Ultra Street Fighter 4, call it the Final Fight DLC(or whatever) for Street Fighter 4.

hmm...i noticed there's a steam logo. is this normal now? i remember pcs have their own logo, but i forgot what it even looks like. seems like steam took it's place

It seems to imply steamworks, but are they going to get rid of GFWL completely? Is it just this new version that will be steamworks? What happens to people just upgrading.

Fighters are a different beast than most other genres is all. The entire game changes when you add characters or make significant balance tweaks because of the nature of the competitive scene. Capcom hasn't handled SFIV badly at all aside from AE and charging for costumes on the original home port. It's the rest of Capcom's DLC practices that have been garbage.

Charging for extra outfits I don't mind at all since I can not buy it and not be at a competitive advantage if i don't.

Expansions =! DLC

What's this talk about Bison's origins? I care not where he comes from...fucking buff him. I feel the change of his U2 from QCFx2 motion to charged motion really sets him back. Way to kick a guy who's already down.

I have to agree with this, you would think they'd aim for the 2013 holiday season. Early next year does seem like a long time if they're just "reusing" assets from SFxT.

it's why I'm hoping for more goodies, i.e. 3rd Ultras. I know it's a long shot but they did say new mechanics

At the panel, they sort of stressed that the SFxT content won't just be directly ported, and mentioned that every character is going to have something they've never had before; whatever that means.

I have a hint for you. If they already had a solution to unblockables, don't you think they would have already shown it?

I'm actually worried that that's too little time. Rebalancing 39 characters+adding new mechanics+adding new characters, that's not easy task at all.

Hasn't been addressed. I think it's probably healthier for keeping the game alive on the PC to cut their losses w/ GFWL. Non-Steam users might have to re-buy though, but fortunately there would be the usual discounts. The again, I dunno how deeply GFWL is tied into the base game code.

ya, it does seem strange this hasn't been patched out yet. Maybe they didn't want any major patches before EVO? Who knows... the EVO guys and Capcom seem to communicate directly with each other.

As far as rebalancing goes, I really hope they don't pull a vanilla AE and purposely make someone really strong. ver. 2012, for all it's faults, has to be --bar none -- one of the most balanced fighting games ever made. fucking Gen won EVO.

Thankfully not:

Nah man, that's totally one of the Andore brothers. Hugo has like four brothers

they should change the shirt color so people realize that or something.

I am going to trade in my old version of the game and grab this new box art. It is sick as all hell. Also kinda want those udon skins.

I think AE's trade is probably $1.50 or so. Might as well make some art out of it.
