Ha. Now we know Uncharted has really blurred the line between CG characters and actors. My wife has never paid enough attention to any character in any game long enough to develop a feeling of good or ill will towards them.

I got home today and my wife kept on asking if I want to play Uncharted. Told her will do after the gym and she gave me the disappointed look. She has been following the whole story with me.

Drake is a hit with the ladies. :lol

Anyone else having problems with quitters in multiplayer? Seems like I need some divine intervention to have an actual 5 on 5 match.

Happens all the fucking time. Usually 4 on 3 or worse. It's usually some scrub thats getting destroyed or some punk bitch who doesn't like the game type.

Not all of them. I asked my GF to come over and hang out, she did. Then I mention if she would like to watch something cool. She agrees. I put on Uncharted 2 to play a little. She realizes it's a video game (she's not into them) and tells me on second though to nevermind. I like her alot so I let it go, but to double back after that kinda ticked me off a little. Sorry for the rant. Damn womens troubles.
Also @ developmentarrested: I think they are implementing a punishment for quitters. I hope its a tag next to their name like a thumbs down and a fine of $1000 to $2000 of virtual money earned.

*whup!*
"There's a guard below you!"
this was my favorite, too -- but i thought it went
"guard above you guard above you" and "guard below you guard below you"

Chapter 23 puzzle help please.

So I put the 4 symbols on the circles and that opened up the statues and revealed some dial like bells I can rotate.

In the book I have 3 symbols for endless knot and 3 symbols for cintamani stone, I have 4 dials I can rotate. None of the dials even seem to have the cintamani stone symbols? What the fuck am I suposed to do here?

Look at the page with the shapes and match the colors to the symbols on the same two pages where it says "fire, earth, water, etc."

The symbols are listed at the top of those pages.

This game is so inventive now that I think about it.

Particularly these three scenes:

1)
The house in Nepal and entrance to Shambayla literally falling with you on it

2)
Having a chase sequence on cars where you have to jump from car to car

3)
Entire train sequence has never really been done that way, moving and interactive as it is, before.

I wish I had a girlfriend to share my experiences with Uncharted 2 with. :(
This is definetely a great game for a girl to play let alone watch. The adventure elements along with platforming are enticing.

i can't remember the last time i played a game and said "holy shit", "holy fuck" and "holy fucking shit" so many times from the graphics and scripted awesomeness this game most obviously reeks

i spent a fair amount of time just gawking, and remembering it was on PS3. how the hell did they pull it off?

wish i knew you had to beat hard to unlock crushing. now i gotta play it two more times :lol

My favorite quote for the game is when
they (Drake and Elena) are pushing the cart with Chloe just standing by in Shambala
and Drake says to Chloe, "Thanks for the help, Chloe." She says, "Don't mention it." Laughed so hard when that happened.

Seriously, this has got to be one of the best games I have ever played since I started gaming, and I was there with the Atari 2600, the Vectrex and the good old computers such as the Texas TI 99/4A (which was, I must confess, utter crap compared to the Commodore 64 I got later and which became my favorite) and have been gaming since.

Holy fucking shit, Naughty Dog, my mind is blown. I just can't make myself finish the levels, having to walk around trying to soak up every little piece of the environment. Awesome.

This game makes me regret I have a wife (kidding, though I can't play as much as I'd like to!).

Uncharted 2 or not she won't spend more than 10 econds looking at it, you guys are lucky.

The game should arrive tomorrow. USPS needs to improve its tracking service.

Isn't Naughty Dog going to start announcing winners of the Fortune Hunter edition today?

Got the game yesterday, started playing and was amazed by how good it looks.
At the same time tho, I was a bit disappointed, the start of the game is booooring.
Oh, and fuck me for still buying some of my games at the store here in Italy. 70€ for this game, when I could have got it for 51 from play.com.

Really? my wife waited for me to come home so she could watch me play.

She just LOVES the cinematic involved. She loves Drake almost as much as Hugh Jackman :lol She watches the cinematics, then surfs the web during gameplay sequences, then watches the next cinematic.

Although she did watch the whole intro sequence which was PHENOMENAL.

Do you guys realize how hard it is to not read the spoiler text? I'm proud of myself. I haven't done it once
although I came dangerously close! :lol

I'm up to chapter 5 or so right now and I love it.

One thing really pisses me off though, I got the Collector's Edition of this game, but the code for the DLC that came with it doesn't seem to work. Do you guys think Sony would be nice enough to help me if I sent them an email or something?

What a fantastic game! Definitely one of my favorite games of all time! I finished my first playthrough last night and I took my good goddamn time too. Took me almost 18 hours to finish, but I really spent alot of time just taking in all of the beautiful scenery. Shame, though, that I was only able to find 56/101 treasures. They hid the treasures very well! Or maybe I just suck!

I'm at the beginning of Chapter 15. Holy fucking shit. I can't believe it, but this game actually continues to get better and better. How in the hell is that even possible? Goddamn, Naughty Dog...Goddamn. You guys really are ruining me for all other games. :lol

I was a floored by a little attention to detail bit a few chapters back. I melee this bastard, I drop him into a corner and he's slumped over there. I need to take cover and when I do:

cover.jpg

I apologize for the low quality photo, but I just quickly snapped it with my iPhone. No clipping through the guy with only part of Nate visible, no inability to go there because dickhead was taking up that space with his lifeless corpse, no, no...Nathan actually props his leg up on the guy I just fucking dropped, takes his cover and I'm all set for head shots.

Goddamn, Naughty Dog...Goddamn.

Finished first playthrough on hard last night (took a bit over 11 hours over 2 play sessions), and while I thought the story faltered a bit towards the end (much like it did in the first), I enjoyed every moment. There's nothing else that needs to be said for the graphics, and the characters are every bit as full of personality as they were in the first (well, among the good guys anyway). Were it not for real-world obligations, I would probably have pulled an all-nighter just to finish the single player mode, and that hasn't happened for a videogame since the original StarCraft.

I did a pretty terrible job on finding treasure though (only got... 29? out of 100), so definitely need to go back and play through to get the treasure and medals. But I need to decide whether to get into multi-player or go start it on Crushing.

That's incredible, and so subtle I probably would've missed it! Their attention to detail is staggering. Naughty God indeed

I just want to say that this is something other than a 'game.' I'm almost done with it and i wish it could just transition into Uncharted3. I've never, ever seen graphics this amazing. You'd think the background and foregrounds and everyground were all bitmap images or Redisent Evil style pre-rendered, but then it isn't. How did they do it?

I do have to admit that i'm playing a rental since i'll beat it tonight and i'm not interested in MP. Will buy it as a greatest hit somewhere down the line.

This could be a launch for ps4 and no one would dare complain. I think it has the effect that Tomb Raider had on ps1, or GTA3 on ps2.

Absolutely brilliant.

So far, it happens in about 1 in 3 matches for me. Usually it's just 1 person, typically the guy who's doing the worst (no suprise there). I don't like it, but thankfully the game still can be competitive when it's 4 on 5, as long as you have a good team.
I had a 1 on 2 game against another GAFer and a friend of his and I won 26-7, feels good. He's probably new to it, though.

sheeeeeet!! a buddy and I were playing multiplayer the other night, and won 50 to 49. the other two on our team seriously only had about 7 kills combined. It was soooo intense, when it was at 49 to 49 I was trying to hunt someone down, when I heard my buddys shotgun go off in the distance and saw that we won it!! Love this game. When i get home im goign to rewatch the whole thing on replay mode.

Didn't you play Uncharted 1?

That happened in 1 as well.

See above. Happened in 1 as well.

This game is amazing for other reasons that that. It's awesome it does that, but 1 did it too.

Where I noticed this game outshines 1 graphically is in the addition of motion blur, and the MASSIVE reduction of aliasing.

Number still had MOST of the detail 2 has, but not quite, but the aliasing in 1 detracted from how gorgeous the game actually was.

By reducing the alising so much, and adding the subtle motion blur, this game looks borderline CG now.

Just beat it on Hard.

I truly do believe that this is the "best" game I've ever played.

It may not be my favorite game of all time, but it's certainly the best in terms of story, graphics, and just overall awesomeness.

Never before in my gaming life (starting way back with the Atari 2600) has a game continually impressed me more than Uncharted 2. Every single room has more detail than some developers manage to put into a whole game. I simply can't fathom the time and effort that went into creating this masterpiece.

Bravo, Naughty Dog. Bravo.

Now I'm seeing the love. Working through Chapter 7 now (taking a break to get dinner) and it really does just keep escalating. I feel that, in addition to the incredible scenarios, it is the fact that you can now tackle each of these scenarios differently. The original didn't really have that and a lot of gun fights had you hiding in one spot until you clear the area. This game really allows you to move all over (and keeps you moving) while giving you plenty of options for dealing with enemies. The way the AI reacts combined with your improved move set and better weapons makes for a much more fine tuned experience. The differences between the original and this game seem minor initially, but it starts to become clear just how improved this is pretty quickly.

I feel like this is a better sequel than Gears of War 2 was to that series, which is saying a lot.

I simply can't fathom the time and effort that went into creating this masterpiece.
Less than two years, I suppose. :P Pretty amazing effort. I mean, Killzone 2 was an outstanding looking game, but even with endless amounts of money, a larger budget, and more time they have been bested by Naughty Dog.

Just finished it. FUCKING AMAZING. not much else I can say. I don't remember ever being that engaged in a games story. The writing was so funny. This game is the reason to buy a PS3.

End of game line but hilarious
Elena: On a scale of 1-10 how scared were you that I was going to die?
Drake:About a 4.
That whole conversation was funny

and depth of field. I love aiming my gun around at objects, then moving the cursor on sully and seeing everything change its focus. Uncharted 1 might have done it, cant remember, but defintely not as good as it is now.

Just got to another spot where I just stop gaming and look around. The gameplay is in itself amazingly fun, but the visuals and details.....

Just...

I am...

It is...

Godcuntingly great.

Edit: What the FUCK is wrong with you, Naughty Dog? How did you conjure up this shit? :D

I did, I finished it and I loved it, save the unnecessary addition of
mutant nazi zombies
...but I never noticed that touch. Amazing attention to detail by the Dog.

EDIT: Fixed spoiler tag. :lol

Yeah, they really did put a TON of effort into all of that, and I think a lot of people overlook it not giving the game all the credit it deserves. Which is why I'm shocked they didn't notice the reload animation being off. Oh well. One tiny-little issue no one else will probably notice is a country mile better than all other games.

Damn it. Amazon shipped my copy on the 12th. I ordered Demon's Souls on the 13th, it was shipped the 14th and it got here today, while UC2 is still in shipping hell. Both with the free super saver shipping. So random. :(

I haven't played too much yet (Brütal Legend is rocking my world), but I just had to pop in and say that chapter "Desperate Times" (whatever number chapter that is, 6 or 7 I think) was amazing, especially the building part.

Yeah, true that. Forot about the depth of field.

It's clearly the most stunning game out there. And unlike like a certain game about a Zone where killing happens, it doesn't rely on shit tonnes of effects and filters to get it's look, in an attempt to hide low poly models and average textures.

The textures are detailed and displayed in all their glory. The character models are equally detailed and aren't hidden behind a load of blur and filter. This is how I've always DREAMED games would look when I was younger.

My favorite rofl moment so far was on top of the hotel
with the swimming pool
. Perfect dialog, perfect delivery, completely unexpected.

I never got that piece of dialogue where Drake asks Chloe if she wants to swim and she says something like "you just want to see me with my shirt wet".

If you didn't
jump in the pool
, try it. I don't want to spoil it, even with spoiler tags.

Edit: Well never mind, there it is. I don't know why I got such a huge kick out of it.

I didn't get that there either. But I did get it later with the
pool in front of the giant statue
.

Perhaps it's random with bodies of water? And for the record, Chloe is so much hotter than Elena. But I've always favored beautiful, but bitchy brunettes...hell, I married one. :lol

So that must be what it's like to be on drugs. Killzone looked
much
better.
