Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

So far I think the game is fun but got a couple problems.

1.) The airplane stage is fun but very short and enemies spawning next to you is um yea.
2.) Not sure if its controller latency but seems sluggish or maybe its the connection.
3.) Powerplays are fun but happen a lot and shouldn't happen if the teams score is close.
4.) This might be me but the melee seems to have a very little hit box or I'm just missing when I'm right next to someone.

Did they raise the level cap? I swear I just saw someone at level 26.

You just stop gaining stuff at level 25 from what I've seen. I managed to get to level 27 before I finally got off about half a day ago.

Really can't wait to see what the final product looks like and how ND balances between the people who just want UC2 with new maps and the Call of Duty fans complaining about health.

The retail rewards aren't in the beta, they're meant for the retail version. My understanding is your account automatically gets flagged server side when you complete an objective. Come retail time they'll automatically unlock the rewards when you log in with your beta account or they'll send out voucher codes via email.

The avatar will likely be distributed as a voucher sent to your email, sometime before retail if arne is successful.

Ahhh, I see! Thanks you guys, I assumed there would be a unlock notification or something. Awesome then!

Is there a way to check how many times you completed a game of each mode? I'd rather not play more than I have to to get those rewards in some of these.

Not to mention anything that's not TDM seems to at least double the matchmaking time.

I feel the same way. I've been playing a ton of Halo: Reach recently and the jump to the UC3 beta is very jarring. I can't aim to save my live most times and often I'm over adjusting the reticule to attempt to land shots. I'm not sure if it's just because I suck, I'm used to the Xbox controller, slight lag on my end or what, but I feel like I'm struggling to just aim most of the time.

Another gripe is occasionally when I'm attempting to flee from a pursuer, I'll attempt to roll to throw his aim off, but instead of rolling, I'll get magnetized to the nearest cover. It's pretty infuriating to have the game do the exact opposite of what you want happen, but I know it's the nature of the beast when roll and take cover are the same button. The inverse is true too when I'm trying to slide into cover to avoid taking shots, yet I roll right into the open.

Sometimes I feel like the damage is a little inconsistent too, but maybe that's just a result of me playing wireless at the moment.

I think powerplays are an interesting idea, but as others have said, I think they show up on too small of a kill difference. Instead of a six or seven kill difference, I think somewhere between ten and fifteen kill deficit for the team that's down.

If these slight problems were fixed/adjusted, I think the game would play a lot better. Overall I'm enjoying it though.

Very happy with most things but something needs to be done to the camera when it comes to running. It just sort of zooms in and wobbles for no reason.

Agreed.. why do they do this anyway? to look more realistic or something? what it does is distract you and give headaches >_<

Loving the beta. I'm addicted to it, especially picking up treasures. I will go through hell just to pick it up.

Same here. It might be because I havent played games in a while, but Im fucking hooked.

Im always trying to call dibs on the next treasure. I hope there will be more, this loot idea is a fucking drug. My inner collection geek is in joy.

I dont think some people realise some boosters have conditions or more than one level.

Overall I think this MP is much better than UC2's from what Ive played thus far. Im thoroughly enjoying it.

I have 2 notes though:

1) Arne, add some clan group features. You know you want ;D

2) I heard some one mention all the profile data from the Beta will carry over when the game gets released. Is this true?

I can also confirm that you can get a loot treasure item when opening chests.

Still want to see bug kickback.

You occasionally get random paid boosters from chests aswell.

Also if an enemy member drops a treasure, it isnt always artifacts but 'just cash' at times.

I need this game now. Forget all that other stuff, I put in probably 6 more hours today in the Hardcore list alone, and that's only with 2 maps. So many moments that could only happen in this game that I couldn't even keep track of em after a while.

Hardcore + loot + buddy system + customizable characters = I'm hooked.

GGs, to everyone today! Tried the hardcore mode for a while. It's really good. All the BS that's in normal TDM is gone. Also, I really hope they don't change the health. It's perfect right now.

The only thing I don't like about Uncharted TV is that it keeps showing me shit from the game's campaign. I had a media black out on purpose! At least it's all minor stuff (or at least it seems to be out of the corner of my eye).

So when will the UGC-feature be revealed ND?

You know, in which we can customize/build our own maps and gamemodes to share with friends and the community?

For the love of sweet jesus-fuck-shit do whatever you have to do to get the goddamn movement speed/responsiveness EXACTLY how it was in U2!

I feel like a goddamn turtle covered in molasses "running" on fly paper. I took me 30 fucking seconds to get Sully to climb up to a ledge because his dumbass kept jumping in completely different directions to what I was pressing, or he was too busy stumbling his old ass around because of the animations.

Get rid of the shit "sprint" that should be renamed to what it actually is: "Jogging-just-slightly-faster-than-U2's-base-movement-speed-while-being-limited-to-a-5-degree-turning-angle."

Fix the fucking aiming; slow, sluggish, unresponsive, mayonnaise -- whatever you call it: fucking thing sucks.

Hahaha, perfect way to describe it.

At first I was like "meh", but after playing with a friend for two hours yesterday I'd say I'm pretty hyped for the game. Too bad Airstrip is just so much better than the other map and despite that is picked less often.

Yeah the sprint is so half assed it might as well not be there. What function does it serve? If they were going to put a sprint button in, make it a proper short burst sprint that is quick enough to get you out of tight spots and serves the additional purpose of being able to make longer jumps. This could even be used in the SP to open up the platforming a bit more

What they have now is lame and redundant

The airfield is growing on me. Its still bland looking but it has quite a bit of depth, different levels and ways to get around

I use it to get back to where the action is taking place quicker, or if I am suddenly getting shot from the back and there's no cover to dash to it, rather than attempt to turn around and just get killed.

I still have yet to play that airfield opening scene…would love to see what all the fuss is about. What play-mode is that available in? I played a hardcore match on the airfield for the first time and it just started us out on the field. I'd like to try it out, but everyone keeps picking the chateau.

Really having a blast playing co-op though, it's a good way to level up and get some perks to use for later in deathmatch.

Lot's of funny glitches in co-op, like enemies that just run in circles around you over and over, guys flying up into the walls, and certain enemies not taking any damage or registering hits when meeled

So what are you supposed to do in close range? Trying to melee them does absolutely no damage. Trying to shoot them seems impossible because it takes forever to pull out my gun. Trying to roll out of the way just puts my guy in cover, where he sits and gets shot to death.

And how do I mute people in the middle of a match? If I forget to mute all at the start, I'm just stuck listening to a bunch of rambling idiots, apparently.

Exactly, that is its purpose but its not very effective as its barely faster than the default speed. If they want to give us sprint, make it a real sprint button

God this so much, I can't believe they didn't address this crap

If you get in close range, basically your only choice is to mash the melee button and get a dual-kill

They should just get rid of melee, or make it non lethal or something

People die in two hits. It's best to blindfire them as you get close and then hit them and you'll likely kill them in just one hit.

It's fast enough to make the difference between getting killed and not.

why did they break uncharted 2 multiplayer? seriously, they broke it, and right now I would rather play uncherted 2.

melee is way more inconsistent, takes 3 hits instead of 2, and alot of the time hits don't even land.

ak 47 rapid fire was disappointing, and g-mal is still the best.

I really miss the old 2 stage hip fire zoom of the sniper rifle too, now its impossible to use at short range.

Lots of hip spray fire + melee usually works for me, and I'm consistently 1st or 2nd on the team. I don't know if there's a certain skill in regards to "camera aim" but my time with Gears of War may have helped me perfect it.

Hit select and hit X on their names to mute them.

Man.. how can you be on a team, have 17 kills yourself, another fellow has 20, that's about fucking half and still lose? Yeah, have a guy on your team with 1 kill. Shit!

They definitely shoulnd't change the health. I've been doing like 16-5ish at worst all night and I've been taking out two man teams all over the place by myself. GMAL so powerful........

I'm not sure why but subway knew that I had the beta and sent me an email about it with a code for a friends. Anyways there was also a bit in the email that stated by getting some code from subway my beta progress can carry into the retail game. So is this a lie?

Copied from email:

Also, during the month of
October, only SUBWAY®
restaurants is giving you early
access to the entire
UNCHARTED 3: Drake's
Deception competitive multiplayer game experience where
you can play all the maps, try all the new competitive features
and carry over your rank and unlocks to the final game!

It doesn't specifically say from the beta but I can't see how else it would apply.

I noticed that when the other team gets a power play, you get twice the cash for your kills. I think that's a decent way to balance it out.

The creepy crawlers look like something you can avoid by thinking vertical. They seem to take some time climbing up.

You have no way of knowing if someone is about to get a kickback, so there's no counter for any of it. If I'm fighting someone, they explode into a swarm of bugs and damn near instant kill you, then sure I know to stay away, but the damage is already done.

I almost died in a gunfight, ran behind a corner and randomly got that running man medal, which gave me enough for the RPG. So I got it, turned and shot and got a double kill. Nothing they could do about it.

GGs Roc and B1gg!

Glad to see it working much better with the patch than yesterday, it was straight up unplayabe. Some crazy lag issues here and there though but had fun with it tonight.

I can't figure out how to beat the shield dudes in co-op :(

It's not about the BETA - The full multiplayer mode of UC3 will get released before the full game and apparently you can only get it at Subway.

Also, I don't like the AK and the M9 sounds. The AK sound is too slow, which makes it very annoying - it needs to sound faster. The M9 sounds too weak right now. Give it some more umph.

Wtf is this for real? Who do I have to pay at Subway and how much? :-/

So, we can't delete the Saved Data, right? Because, that is the thing that makes it carry over to retail?

Just checking to be sure.

This is by far my biggest problem with these kickbacks (aside from them being completely unfit for the tone of the game IMO)

Even if you do your damnedest to assess a situation as much as you can before going on the attack, somebody can go around a corner and pull out an RPG from his ass, turn into bugs right in front of you, or drop a grenade right at his own feet and disappear like a ninja. WTF. No warning, no sign beforehand, nothing.

Shoot them with the UZI (about half a clip) while running in circles around them, and finish with a single punch.

Try select + x (haven't tried myself).

With just about every kickback that gets suddenly activated by an enemy in a gunfight, you'll probably die, even with the "RPG!!!".
