Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

FIRST GENTLEMAN'S RULE OF U3 MULTIPLAYER:

1. If someone gets on a zipline, DO NOT SHOOT HIM/HER FROM A GROUNDED POSITION. Instead, jump on the zipline yourself, and have crazy zipeline chases before capping his and/or her ass.

Only YOU can provide epic moments.

I wish this could be enforced. That would be so awesome.

I'm pumped for this beta...just like U2.

if for any reason someone needs a code for the beta, ive got my infamous 2 one to give away.
Could I possibly?
I have JUST bought my very first ever Playstation, and have bought myself the uncharted 1, 2, inFAMOUS, MGS4, and MAG.
Very excited to get stuck in to Uncharted series!

I'm not even excited for this and I have no idea why.

What, did you want the characters transforming into guns that shoot rockets? Skeletons and insects weren't enough?

Just can't please some people.

Played a few matches of UC2 MP today. I had only played one game before (for the trophy), TDM RPGs in the Lab a few months back; went 19-4 : )

However the games today didn't go too well. Got matched up with a bunch of roman numeral guys who shit on me. Not usually in straight up fights (my shot was fine, even cross-mapped some guys with the 92FS), but these guys were pro at outmaneuvering and/or flanking me. Map knowledge/awareness seems to be 100% key in UC2, and the maps are not noob-friendly at all. I had fun though. Looking forward to getting a fresh start with UC3's maps. I feel pretty comfortable with the mechanics, so learning angles/climbing spots/flanking routes is what I need to concentrate on.

Anyone know how many stages will be available in the beta?

EDIT: Nvm, read in OP.

How many of you will be full on replacing Black Ops/TF2/BFBC2 with the UC3 beta?

It doesn't matter because Grace Chen will update at Tuesday, 11:59PM Pacific Time and we will all weep together.

True. :/

Tomorrow(today) will be one of the last hurrahs for U2-GAF, 'till we move on to the (false?)idol that is U3. Let us pray for a balanced game.

Hopefully Fal & Thrakier will be on.

I'm replacing u2 with it. And KZ3. Can't stand ops and I can't get into TF2 (please don't hurt me, it's just not for me). I really want to try bc2. But this thing will DOMINATE my life. Loot you can collect and customize your character and all that jazz? FUCK ME, my life is fucking OVER.

Will MP run at 30 or 60FPS?

Not to be a jackass but how do people still ask questions like this? Games that look as good as Uncharted/Killzone/Gears 3 will never run at 60fps this generation, always 30fps (Ok sorry for being a jackass.)

Well Uncharted is already my go to multiplayer PS3 game, so I can pretty much say Uncharted 3 will be the end of me. lol

:O Awesome.

What to do first is the question now. Jump right into matchmaking or start off with GAF games?

Heh. I was just kidding :-(

I think I'll just go ahead and jump into some random games first, to get the feeling again.

I wont take any of the "OMG so fun....beta is amazing" comments too seriously later on today. I'll wait for 3rd day critiques

My guess is that there will be some problems/technical issues anyway. Especially the first few days.

I just hope they fixed the voicechat-quality and improved upon the matchmaking.

Also, I pretty much only played Elimination in U2. I think no-respawn games are much more exciting. There's more tention, and pressure from your team (especially when you play with some buddies) when you know you're the only one left and everyone's watching you.

My problem with Elimination in U2 was that the games were much too short. And right after a game ended, it would immediately cut the voicechat and go on with the next map. That sucks. Why? Because you want to be able to call out and have some fun with the losing team before going to the next round. That's how you build a community and meet fun people to play and chat with.

I think that's one of the things why I get so nostalgic when I think about the Gears of War 1 days. It was the community and the people I played and laughed with that made it so much more fun.

I'm doing pure matchmaking first. I want to see everyone on equal ground. If we do GAF games we'll just destroy everyone.

You are quite the beta player, aren't you? I remember randomly running into you all the time in the Dead Space 2 beta and a few others as well.

GAF games equate to GAF vs. GAF, not GAF vs. Pubs. It would probably be easier to learn the maps that way first, but I may just do a few games of randoms first. (Well, I'll probably still party up.)

Earlier in the year i was super hyped for this but now my hype level is about zero.

I guess after seeing the direction ND seems to taking the MP i just lost all interest. I really hope the Beta proves me wrong :\

I agree. Elimination was a great underplayed gametype. I hope to see overall improvements in the retail release.

I am. But are you sure that was me? I never played the Dead Space 2 Beta. ;-)
My PSN is Caemgen.

I did play almost every other Beta. Was it the Crysis 2 Beta perhaps?

It aint that bad. Uncharted multiplayer is usually downscaled graphically from the single player very heavily. They could have done this to have it run in 60fps. But that's very unlikely because the feel would not remain consistent between modes.

You won't even get a full taste either since you'll be leaving after only a few days, so you won't have much time to determine if your first impressions are correct.

Heh. Do you guys remember the Medal of Honor multiplayer?
Talking about inconsistent... damn.

I think I still have Justin Richmond in my PSN friendslist. He was the multiplayer director for U2, I believe, so I'll pass some feedback to him. I'm sure he'll get the word across to the MP team about Elimination.

Yeah, you were on my friend's list at one point. I think it was actually MoH where we met up. I ended up adding you, but I don't we ever played together in the same group. (I've seen you other places though, don't know why I jumped to DS2.)

O, wait. Yeah, BroakenOath. Sure I remember you!

If for some reason we're not PSN buddies anymore, let's fix that and play some U3 :-)

I hear ya man, but I still don't believe you can get a game looking as good as UC3 at 60fps on consoles right now, whether it's down scaled or not (at least not with all the bells and whistles). But then again I'm not a part of Naughty Dog's ICE team, so who the hell knows.

I wonder if you could ever get a mode in a game that reduces it to look like the 3d version (reduction in resolution, less AA, that sort of thing), so that you can get 60fps and have that be a selectable mode.

I don't think you'd find that in a retail game on consoles.

Totally forgot about this. Just activated my free month of Plus for this.

I'm going to suck so bad.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to download the Beta with that free month of Plus...

Haha, perhaps... one day. :-)

Are you talking about me or the gun? :)

I will definitely try to be on today for some U2, and play the beta as much as possible during the next couple of weeks. I have some concerns about the U3 mp, but at least it will nice to play something other than the same old maps for a change.
