Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

3rd crash in 3 games...
Was doing so well too with 6-1 =(

It actually froze 4 times during the last match (5-10sec each time), but the last time it didn't unfreeze.
 
wow, UC2 is my favorite game of this gen, but this has got to be the worst public beta I've yet seen -- getting hard locks repeatedly and they didn't even include the option for southpaw controls (which is how I played the first 2 Uncharted games).

The latter I'm particularly surprised about, and I'm cancelling my pre-order until I know southpaw is in.

I can't believe they opted to release this beta with the hard-locking bug (how did that not come up in testing???) -- I've tried 4 times and can't get the game to last more than about 2-3 mins before it either locks up or the framerate drops to about 5 or so and the entire PS3 chugs.

Not only that but it happened in slow-mo because the game was running at 5fps for me. Less than a minute later I got a hard lock and I called it quits for the night.
 
So, no hard crashes here but after getting the super-low frame rate (which seems to have happened when I went to the in-game XMB to turn on my headset) I quit the game and it did a hard reset instead.

Weapons don't feel anywhere near as accurate or fast as they do in U2, and sound kind of funky at that. Graphics are a slight notch above U2 multi in some areas, seems like the anti-aliasing is a bit wacky.

So far it's a really rocky start for this beta. Hopefully all the game breakers get fixed up soon.

You can only do it when the blue d-pad appears on top of a dead body(presumably cause both of yall killed him). Go upto it and press down, then high five

The crashes really emphasise how ridiculously long it takes to boot up a game and actually make it from the matchmaking screen past the stupid countdown into a game.

Why people put up with MM, I'll never understand.

Getting into a tf2 dedi from my desktop on pc takes about 15-20seconds.
 
I think if the beta was more stable and with less bugs people would have quite a positive opinion about new MP. I kinda like it, as previously said I don't like cursed powerplay, it's annoying. Powerplay in general is not that big of a deal in this game. I also witnessed 4 or 5 different powerplays during one match and I think it's too much cuz it's constantly changing experience and can be rhythm killer when playing.

At first everything was little different compared to UC2, movement, aiming, recoil but only thing I have a problem with is sprinting. It's more of a camera that zooms too close on your back that's the problem. I really like hit markers, the completely new sound when you hit someone, weapon sound, etc. Everything else can be further tweaked by ND.

Don't understand complaints about jaggies and IQ, graphics are awesome, maybe general look of the airstrip is the culprit. Castle is very pretty and in style with older maps.

Do you get matched with other new people? Or people who have been playing for 2 years and will destroy you in seconds? You have absolutely no control.
 
I dont recall it being in U2, but if you press down L3, you get a short speed burst. Also, I really appreciated in U2 how drake realistically skipped several steps when running up stairs. Now he essentially glides up them like a ramp.
 
Buddy system is a great addition. You pretty much always have someone covering your ass now. I hated playing UC2 with randoms because everyone just ran around doing their own shit.

In Uncharted 2 you only had to control the vertical recoil from your weapon. In Uncharted 3 the horizontal recoil seems a bit random and messes up your accuracy. You can't tilt down on the right stick to control it like you could in U2. But I'm getting better at controlling it.

just played my first match, totally unplayable, dropped after 5mins after playing with a average of 2 fps's. it looks nice, but this is very unpolished. the plane departure sequence for me didn't even show the full airplane, just bits of it.

Ugh how many times do people have to say it is a beta before people realize it?

Fine to voice the flaws with the game - it's important (especially if ya can do it on the official U3 forums). But goddam people!

Ok, I was finally able to play one game without it freezing. The framerate was still pretty bad, but it was kinda playable.

My biggest complaint right now is that the aiming feels really slow and sluggish. Wtf is up with this? Idk if it's partly because of the shitty framerate and/or lag, but it sucks.

Also, it's stupid that you have to use medals to change your loadout in a match. In fact, I think it's kinda stupid that there are loadouts to begin with. I'd much prefer Uncharted 2's system of picking up weapons within the level.

Sprint is useless. Get rid of it and just make the default movement a little faster. I also don't feel like I'm as nimble as I was in Uncharted 2, but again that might be lag or low framerate.

That's really all I could judge from the one match I've been able to play. I played about halfway through another one right after that before it froze again.

Framerate and freezing issues aside, it seems like a big downgrade from Uncharted 2's multiplayer. Maybe I'll come around to it, but my first impressions aren't good.
 
Turned off the Facebook Friends List funcationality - something in that may have contributed to the framerate/lag issues, and possibly any resets or freezing.

Not sure if that helped those or not.

Were you expecting a finished product? With basically everyone granted access, their servers are probably screaming. That's why we are playing it; to break the game and report what we've found, so the final code can be up to snuff.

I'm not as bad as I thought. I'm getting decent kill streaks and am usually near the top of my team. Though this is with random people.

I think people have come to expect betas (especially for AAA games) to act mainly as demos. Considering we are only a few weeks past the near flawless Gears of War 3 beta, having actual issues popping up is jarring even if it is bringing everyone back to the reality of testing.
 
Well that was fun. First two minutse in running at about 2 FPS and fucking hard lock up. Sure this isn't Alpha?

And yes, I want to test and give feedback to improve this!

The freezing/crashing was there even this morning when it was only up in Hong Kong. I know the game is beta but you can't really test anything if you can't play.
 
Melee system is so easy to abuse.
If someone smacks you first and you know you'll lose, just tap L2 then immediately punch and you will do both at the same time.
He'll die from the nade weakened by the punch after his second smack kills you.
