Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

Rank 13 now, halfway to the finish line. Matchmaking broke for me my last few matches, paired up with Rank 1s and 2s against a group also in the teen ranks. Went 17-6 and still lost, I need more friends to play with. Never got around to joining up with U2-GAF.

After playing more, I definitely think it is good, but absolutely nothing standout IMO. Looks like BF3 is my mp fix this winter.
Bububu... ND said this is supposed to be the go-to mp game. Do you not like powerplays kicking in when you're 5 points ahead? Don't like people turning into bugs? LOL

Wait, what?

The Creepy Crawler booster you get from Gamestop if you reserve it there. You turn into scarabs and swarm your enemies. It's as awesome as it sounds!!!

wtf

not digging that woman telling me to pick up treasure, give us the option to change the voice to a smooth deep black guy or get rid of it

edit: that crawler shit sounds retarded, fuck gamestop

excuse my ignorance, when can i actually activate the kickback?

Melee doesn't seem as satisfying and powerful as in U2 :(

When you gain enough medals. There's a counter on the top left side of the screen.

The smoke bomb can (and will) get abused easily if they don't reset the counter back to zero once you use it.

might have to buy the smoke bomb, not sure if it will compare to my rpg though, always bags me 2 kills everytime

I appreciate ND having the best kickback being the first to be unlocked. Managed to wipe out the entire enemy squad within five seconds of activation my last match.

Pretty shitty netcode. I often get this bad connection/disconnection symbol in the middle of a firefight, then i can't move and when it's gone i'm dead.

Yeah, I can see why Move is not supported. Move users would slaughter DS3 ones with the way aiming works for the latter. Too bad. Would have been tons more fun I bet.

TTP said:
Either lots of Move time un-teached me how to aim with a stick or something is off. I'm having a very hard time aiming at people to the point that I actually hate having to shoot. I prefer to flee and go look for some chests.

Also, vertical / horizontal sensitivity should be different options. I feel like vertical is too sensitive but I don't want to slow down horizontal.

Yes it's really bloody janky. I can't have any bloody fun because the controls are laggy, slow, and autoaim constantly fights me in whatever i want to do.

Posted this in the feedback-forum as well:

First thing I noticed (and was annoyed about) is that you guys don't use PSN messages to invite friends.

You know, the way almost all new PS3 games work. It automagically sends a PSN message to your friend who can then join your lobby/match by just selecting 'Join' from the options below the message, regardless of what he's doing. See COD: Black Ops and Killzone 3 for examples.

It should, of course, still be an option to accept invites via the dedicated tab in the in-game multiplayer menu of course, if you're already there anyway.

Also: Currently, you don't even get in-game notifications when you get an invite.

Another feature that would be convenient would be the ability to join your friends lobbies by just going into the in-game XMB's friendlist, press triangle on a friends name and select 'Join player'. Especially when you're in single player and suddenly decide to. See Modern Warfare 2 for an example.

why they left out joining a friend is beyond me, it seems like a really obvious thing, people like to click friends name, and join their game. i'd actually prefer in game invites and notices rather than psn though, rfom style

no way Jóse.. every one should use the brilliant stuff Modern Warfare 2 used.. it was (and still is) perfect..! MP gaming on PS3 has never been easier. Fast loading, fast joining, fast gaming..

The melee system is absolutely god-awful, and the double-kills are too numerous. I didn't play UC2 a lot, but I feel as if melee insta-kills would be better.

Yeah, in-game invites are faster than via XMB.

Odd about the lack of join option and the no invite prompt thing.

The one thing MP developers should be focused on is making it easy as breathing to play with *friends* to the point of making painfully hard NOT to play with them. Yeah, I did go there. Invite from anywhere, join, party system, lots and lots of pertinent notifications. This stuff should be the starting point of any MP development process. Not an option to be added after the random matchmaking is done.

Currently most of them focus of making it easier to enter games with randoms and sort of have the friends related features hidden somewhere for you to find and figure out how they work.

It should be the very opposite. First thing you should see when going online in your friends list, not a playlist.

/generic opinion not strictly related to UC3

Back to Uncharted 3, I think is stupid there is no "Invite Player" option in the party tab. You need to go to the friends one and invite from there. Took me a while to figure it out. It shouldn't be this hard.

I hope the Airstrip map gets an lighting overhaul, it's waaay too brown and fugly. The Chateau map is very nice though; though a minor annoyance, when you start the level as the bad guys, the cutscene of the guy throwing the torch on the attic causes slowdown (when the camera zooms in on the flame). :P

I keep getting reset and 3 beeps when trying to update Grrrrr (UK)

Edit: Nevermind, after the 10th time of trying I waited til the yellow light stopped flashing and then pressed 'ok' that worked.

The controls feel really clunky and not really well done. I don't understand why I have to aim my gun just to switch weapons and just trying to move my player around the map feels horrible and not smooth at all.

I don't like feeling that I have to fight with the controls just to get around the map.

-the HK beta always restarts my ps3 after I exit it for some reason, DL the EU one now...
-same problem I had with UC2, I fucking suck at the game -.- just went 4-14 and 5-14, I don't know if it is the fact I usualy don't play on consoles or if I am simply awfull at TPS games...

You can switch guns anytime with the D-Pad but yeah, weapon switching has never been an highlight in Uncharted. Also hate you have to switch back to rifle after a traversal shot (which automatically switches to pistol).

L2 for grenade throwing is what I hate the most tho. Forces me to go out of zoom and into a totally different sensitivity environment which usually causes a fuck up.

I'd rather reload with L2 and use R2 for grenades.

You can just switch weapons by using D-pad left/right.

Power plays are pretty garbage and over powered. Was losing a match last night by about 12 kills when we had the chance to kill the VIP. Sadly for the other team the VIP was a low level and didn't really have a clue that he was meant to be hiding/protecting himself - We killed him enough times to win the game quite comfortably.

I mean I'm all for giving the losing side an incentive to make a comeback but teams shouldn't get punished for winning.

Last night was horrible, but I just had 3 flawless games. No drop in framerate and no connection issues.

Loving it so far as I improve too. Only thing I will say is that the weird delay when you kill someone is still there, like they die a second after they actually die. It makes it much easier to get unfair double kills. Perhaps it's just lag though.

Possible implications for the single player do we think? Uncharted 1: zombies, uncharted 2: blue guys, uncharted 3....people that turns into swarms of bugs?

I want the patch on EU PSN already so the game won't freeze anymore. Or at least not as often.

Connection issues are the big thing for me right now. That, and I hate burst rifles, but the AK is so crappy. Powerplays trigger too often. The discrepancy between the scores needs to be greater for that to happen. Kickbacks need some re-balancing, but they aren't terrible. We'll have to see how it plays out in plunder. So far, it's enjoyable, but it doesn't grab like how U2's MP did.

Level 16. Most of that is from co-op.

Just fired it up, hot damn at these PSP looking menus, that's definitely not the quality I associate with this series. Uncharted TV is cool, matchmaking is fast, my PS fan is LOUD, I'm ready!

Micro pistol = Awesome in close areas, just spray a few times and melee your enemy for the kill, bloody effective so far.

So far power plays haven't been a pain in the ass except for one.

VIP - fun fun fun, I usually strayed from my VIP to hunt down my enemies through some estimated guessing of which route they will take to reach my VIP.

X ray - Not really a issued here, just more tension.

Double damage - Now this is something I don't like, never enjoyed doing down within a 2-3 secs not to mention doesn't give me enough time to escape.
