Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

I have a EU beta code if anyone wants it, got it due to being an EU beta tester but already got in thanks to PS+. Just PM me. Edit - It's taken

Anyone else finding it really hard to find a co-op game? Team deathmatch still takes ages but at least the teams do fill up, no such luck with co-op.

After only a few matches my first impressions are that this is pretty big step up over Uncharted 2's multiplayer, with the exception of the graphics which look way worse.

I particularly like the new running speed.

Seriously, the gun sounds are so bad in this game, no real joy in shooting people up. :< I also find it hard to judge whether or not my shots land cleanly/head-on when the recoil makes the screen bob so much, so I'm curious as to how some find the hit detection stellar when it seems somewhat arbitrary.

Sound effect when you hit someone is very specific. It's much easier to tell when you're hitting someone than in Uncharted 2 actually.

I actually have to admit, that I love the sound of the M9. It sounds so heavy. It's the best thing about that weapon really.

I think the gun sounds are a bit better than the other Uncharteds and I like the recoil. Even with the AK, I have no problem getting solid hits and kills at my usual encounter distance.

Yeah, it's quite better than U2 mainly due to the reticule, but what I meant was that since the view bobs so much, it's hard to gauge whether the actual hit detection of this game is as good as some say, since it occasionally feels like I'm hitting enemies even when my reticule is way off due to the recoil. It's hard to explain, actually, but I hope you catch my drift.

I know what you mean. Bad Company 2 was kind of the same way and I was playing that recently so I guess it doesn't bother me much because of that.

Ah, perfect example, Bad Company is exactly the same way! But in BC2's case, I think it's the lame ragdolls that accentuate the strange feeling, here it's the combination of strong recoil bobbing and the tracers spewing all over in the direction of the enemy.

Would someone explain the buddy system to me? What's the point of high-fiving, specifically? Anything else I should know?

You get a medal and some extra money for high-fiving, and if you enable one specific booster you can high-five over a downed enemy to grab some extra ammo.

Your buddy is a teammate that you always know where they are and you can spawn on them if the coast is clear. High-fiving is something you can do after an assist kill that gives you a medal if you do it with your current buddy or makes the other player your buddy if they aren't already.

From what I played of the multiplayer beta, I'm not sure I really it. The characters tend to move a little slow (compared to U2's multiplayer) and the controls don't feel quite right, even for a beta. I guess my expectations for a beta are way too spoiled by the Gears 3 Beta (which was incredibly polished, Trenches map notwithstanding).

Still, I've only played the Airfield map and I don't really like it -- if it's just the trucks and airplane by itself, I think it would be OK. It would get old after awhile, but I would be fine with that. The other area of the Airfield map is murky and difficult to see for me. I can't tell you how many times I would run on a platform and just fall off. Maybe that's just me and my poor vision. I haven't played Chateau yet.

the slow, laggy controls, and the crap autoaim constantly interfering with my actual aim, is killing this for me.
Auto aim? Its more like aim assist and unless your a PC gamer it should be something you are used to. Unless you mean the little dot in the middle which you can take off by going to options -> display -> aimdot.

Maybe you should up brightness.

Right now this game is feels better than Uncharted 2's MP. Kickbacks and power plays bring some nice change into the matches. And they don't feel over powered at all. I have also gotten used to the shooting and increased fire rate made AK-47 a beast.

Would be nice to find some treasure that actually unlocks some apparel for me. Last unlock that I got was probably 10 levels ago. That needs some changing.

And I still can't log into the ND's site.

Probably because Gears 3 was supposed to be out right now.

One little and fast question: you can not make screen captures in cinema mode whatever you do, right? And you could do that in Uncharted 2 full game, but not in the betas, right? (I was in both but can't remember).

Damn, it must be a pain working in the Game (MP) Industry! I couldn't read any threads.

People play your game for 30 minutes and tell you what features need to be taken out and what needs to be changed.

It keeps sounding like people just want Uncharted 2... but it's still there. Can't you keep playing it? :P

I'm pretty sure cinema mode isn't available for the beta.

I really hate reasoning like this. A sequel is expected to build on previous concepts of a prior game in a series. Fans of a series have expectations of what a sequel will be like. If it's totally different from the prior game, you're going to get backlash from fans who were greatly anticipating the sequel.

I'm not saying this applies to U3, though.

Since I can't sign in on Naughty Dog's forums (way to encourage feedback) - I suppose I'll put my beta bug list in here.

On the first option for the co-op loadout, the new-unlock exclamation mark is not removing itself after I have checked it. It simply stays there.

Also every time I tried to download the patch, my PS3 would automatically reset. I eventually had to re-download the beta and then it worked (I also took out a USB stick just in case).

Having fun, but I'm starting to become wary of the final product. And please do something about those light to dark transitions, they are wayyy too slow and for the first few feet of entering the hanger, I can't see shit.

I had a bug on Airstrip where the truck wasn't shown in the airbase entry (villains) cinematic. Was hilarious. Now I know what Red Dead players feel like

Wait. A sequel is suppose to expand on the series - but remain the same at the same time?

From what I've read it sounds like people want the health back to where it was, the aiming the same, the sprint removed, the new power plays removed, the new perks changed back, remove the cinematic, put the gamma back to U2 style and even make the graphics more like U2.

What else is there! Did people just want new maps and customization?

Co-op Arena would be way more fun if you didn't have enemies spawning on top of you all the time. I guess I should be more specific. I liked in UC2 when enemies entered the map they came from somewhere. I find it really annoying to be in a room shooting one enemy to just have 3 more spawn in and kill you.

Really? Are you sure you're comparing it to UC2 MP? To me it definitely looked better than that.

I really hope the graphics get another pass through. It looks good, but not ND levels of good :-/.
I never thought UC2 MP was "ND levels of good" anyway. It was almost like a completely different looking game compared to SP.

Thanks for the buddy answers, guys. Seems the only real purpose of high-fiving is cash, and a co-operative taunt. I like that it's there. I hope they can expand on it.

I like the spawning thing a lot though. I like the game a lot, actually. I'm having a lot of fun. Really want some more maps to play though. When the game is released, any person who votes for either of these maps is my eternal enemy.

On the update black page, wait for 20 seconds or so before hitting the update/download button.
Hit me up and let's go wreck some fools lol.

3 Team Deathmatch is easily my favorite mode so far. A buddy and I just dominated about seven matches before losing this last one with 3 kills to go. And again everything seemed to run perfectly. No lag, errors, or hiccups in the matchmaking.

Power Plays in regular deathmatch definitely need some work though.

Did the same to me and worked fine the second time I started it.

The animation in this game... is sick.

Need SP though... MP games don't do it for me anymore unless they're made by DICE and called Battlefield.

But... I saw in the menu, and I replayed my last three matches and changed ilumination and depth of field stuffs... ._.? I mean it's called cinema, even if it isn't fully featured (what it seems like).
