Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

Yemen is very well balanced for all playstyles. Snipers usually get taken out by grenades (towers) or just beaten from behind. If you have a hunter dedicated to taking them out, they have no chance usually. I love the map! There is so much verticality involved and traversal paths give you a lot of freedom to move around and surprise your enemies.
 
Wow. Co-op adventure is probably the buggiest out of all modes. Came across some weird glitch every time I played a match! I think they should've thrown this mode in the beta first.

If they could bring 2 maps from U2 to U3, which would you guys want?

For me it would be Plaza and Temple.

Mind you, I don't have any of the DLC, so I have no idea about any of those.

not a fan of old maps on new games. i rather them spend time making 2 new ones then polishing up 2 old ones.

Village and Plaza, or Lost City.
 
Found a funny bug: if the game starts while you're busy selecting colors for your clothes you'll end up dressed all in green. Luck of the irish!

Highrise is the best map.
 
Man, I have such a love/hate thing going on with this game. I think it's the retard randoms they keep teaming me up with on plunder/objectives. Yemen map is tipping the scales towards love though.
 
Yemen is OK -- it's a bit boring to me and I've seen a few people be able to snipe around walls/ledges on that map. It's not as bad as Chateau (dude standing on a roof near a turret) and Airstrip (guy behind a metal fence) but I'm wondering something about that map. I like the gas cans on the map -- got a few BBQ medals from that.
 
Noticed the map disappears and I can see all players while hanging from the rooftop/ledge in the Yemen map on the side with the tower that over looks the city below.

Hopefully that map is indicative of more open areas in the campaign. They give you an objective and you find your way to it however you want.

Yep, Yemen is the best deathmatch map so far. I rarely got killed since there are so many paths to escape. I'd sometimes circle back and kill the person following me. I came in first without camping. It's easy on the eyes as well.
 
Anyone here think the grenades are fine as they are? I seriously think the way they are now 9/10 times you can't dodge them on reaction. You have to see them coming and roll before they land to avoid it, because if it lands and then you try to roll you are fucked. It makes trying to do the triangle button toss back thing completely impossible.

I'm also still in the camp that thinks you can throw them waaaaaaaaay too far. On Air strip/field I can go to the farthest corner of the roof area where that little room is that can blow up and a RPG spawns there, and chuck a grenade from there to the turret no problem. I can throw it even further than that. Kind of a bit ridiculous.

I think they are fine the way they are and ability to throw them so far is a unique thing that this game has. Not every game should be realistic in every manner.
 
Yemen is indeed a beautiful map. It's fantastic for Uncharted. It reminds me a little bit of The Highrise...probably it's color scheme. However, I really hate Yemen in Plunder. Since there's cover almost anywhere on the map, it becomes a huge camp fest. And since the climbing in this game is wonky at times, I find myself "attempting" to climb something only to have my character jump and not grab anything. It's incredibly frustrating to me because it screws me over 90% of the time. This is my number one beef with the map so far. I had no trouble climbing anything in UC2, but on the beta there's a lot of times where my climbing won't register.

I also noticed that the sniper kills were changed to happen immediately like in Uncharted 2! I am so fucking happy for that, so thanks, Naughty Dog! No more seconds delay for my foe to die when it happens instantly now! Woohoo.

Co-op adventure is such a tease, but it's so fun. I love that it encourages teamwork to do certain objectives. I'm disappointed in The Brute. He is so easy to kill. :( The brute in Uncharted 2 was 10x deadlier and more dangerous than this one so far. I figured he'd pose much of a threat since the brute is smaller this time around, but he still moves slowly. Make him move faster or allow him to throw grenades (not sure if he can do that on the beta) to make him dangerous. Or better yet, have more than one at the same time. Hell, make an enemy that can throw a cluster bomb or an enemy that can use the kickback to make other enemies stronger. We have boosters now so we should be good. I know it's probably set on Normal, but I can't wait to try Crushing. I love getting my ass kicked in co-op. It makes it more fun and intense. :)

Grenades are fine, better to have grenades that you can throw accurately than ones that feel like beachballs.

Yeah, uploading is only used for sending stuff to other people; like, if I got an awesome kill, I'd upload the file and send it to you, where you would download it to watch in the cinema within U3.

There's no watching the clips outside of U3, afaik.

One of my friends had sent me a cinema file. I went to the cinema mode and in the messages tab, it had "1" meaning it was the cinema file my friend had sent me. When I clicked on it to download it, nothing happened. His file never appeared anywhere. Does the person that sent the file has to have it protected and uploaded so you can see it?

there shouldn't be a money cap. I should have made more than 50k in that match and it stopped at 50k while I still heard the cash in the backrgound. Give me my hard earned money!

The Fort and The Sanctuary. Both fantastically designed.

Temple and Ice Cave. Temple just for the look and feel of the place and ice cave for hanging off of stuff and hiding.

We have four ps3s in the house and I've played different modes on all four of them to unlock the decals for U3, but now I'm not so sure it will recognize what I've played unless it keeps track of it by username.

My favorite maps are still the two original maps from the beta, Plaza and Village.

well i'm pretty sure you're alone to fell lags everywhere ...
when i'm playing with people far away ( over 8000miles of distance ) i can still play fine ..

it's not perfect but it's not a lag fest

Just tonight it's been really laggy for me. I'd press triangle to pick up the treasure, nothing happens, I walk away and 2 seconds later I'm teleported into the pick up animation. :lol
 
Played Yemen today. Nice map, really nice. Lots of places to snipe and be sniped at, as well as secluded corridors to ambush people and a wide open area in the middle of it all. Love it.

I can't understand how ppl are still picking up Airstrip with a new fucking map available. Hate when that happens.
 
I hope in the retail release we have the option to create custom games like UC2. It better just not be matchmaking because that would totally suck.

Yup. Recoil is still too much and messes up with my mojo.

Played coop adventure today as well, and for the first time ever, I used the sniper pistole. :D

They're perfect the way they are right now. I'd make the blindfire a little weaker. I'm quite happy with them and actually find them sort of like UC2's, except they fire much faster. The only thing that sucks is that when I run out of ammo, I'm pretty much screwed since there's no pistol ammo in any of the maps and I'm left with 0 bullets until I die and spawn again with a full clip. It shouldn't be this way, in my opinion.
 
Hey guys, I have noticed some things with this beta. I'm pretty sure these will be fixed, but they just irk me right now.

1. When you load Sully's character on the customization screen, Sully has no mustache. I'm just wondering if this happens to anyone else.
2. At the beginning of each match, not all the textures load. Most specifically on the character's pants. They're just blue, but after a few seconds they load with all the details.
Just wondering if this happens to anyone else.
