I have no interest in the level of my character, but I do miss playing the beta considerably, so I'm all about this. I'd be happier if it was "play the MP early, but we're wiping things on launch day" just to be fair. Although "buy a drink from Subway" makes it sound like codes will be available high and low.
I'm excited. MP is a big part of why I'll be getting UC3 day one.

Well, over the course of the beta, they stopped the medals from stacking, so you had to use your kickback as soon as you got it if you wanted to earn more rewards.
I thought it was pretty balanced because for every nice escape you made you were just as likely to get spawned in the middle of a firefight or a foot away from a grenade.

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I actually like the notion that any accumulated stats for this multiplayer period will carry over! I would be disappointed if the stats were reset, as it would diminish the sense of accomplishment that would come from the early play period.

I preferred the way Uncharted 2 did it, release a demo and then reset the stats when the game officially starts, I don't like the idea of a lot of people having all the unlocks before the game launches.Agent X said:

I wonder why they decided to go with a full month though? A lot of people can get their fill in an entire month.

I wonder how trophies will work, if there are any multiplayer trophies. This freebie won't have any, right? Would be smart on Sony's part if it did, actually. Maybe like a quarter of what a full game would have.

You know what would be nice. If you could play the MP from the hard drive even when you had the retail disk. The disk would still need to be in the PS3, but it would access data from the download on the HDD.

For what it's worth, Uncharted 2's base trophy set (i.e. the ones that count toward a platinum trophy) only had a couple of trophies that were gained through multiplayer, and they were generally relegated to simple "try out this mode" trophies, rather than requiring a certain amount of in-game skill. One was awarded for completing a competitive multiplayer game, and another for completing a cooperative multiplayer game. That's it.
By doing it that way, just about anyone could have a fair chance at attaining a platinum trophy, without needing an extremely high level of skill. Some other games with online multiplayer components require you to reach a certain level or be within a certain percentile on the leaderboards.
Some of U2's add-on trophies that came with the introduction of DLC packs did have skill-based trophies, but these aren't required for a platinum trophy.

Yeah, and that was certainly a better choice than making you reach rank 100, but I think Naughty Dog was still a little green with multiplayer and didn't want to push the envelope with their consumers.Agent X said:

Still hope they're smart about it though. I really like the whole "just try it" trophies, but I think they should have made people try it more than just once. I think it would be incredibly smart for there to be 10 or 15 trophies you could attain by playing this freebie multiplayer. I hope they do that.

No Swag or copies of the game? I didn't see it listed on the promo specs. Lame, I'd hate to load up the game day 1 and have a ton of people already halfway to max level.

Yes is does and I don't think there can be much debate. Sure, lots of GAF players aren;t going to get destroyed a week later but I think it screws up the game. There used to be 2 factors in a kill, where are you shooting and what is their health. Now there are a dozen variables mostly related to the perks. They'll talk about it like it's supposed to level the field but it's made shooters with lots of things that can be exploited for advantage. At least there is a hardcore mode :/Irish said:
