Uncharted 4 to run 30FPS confirmed.

To be honest, it kinda does now.

I can honestly see some compromises made, but the lighting tickles my fancy much better in the final build.

30fps doesn't bother me per se, but there are circumstances where it very much does. I played Scholar of the First Sin before Dark Souls III on PS4, and yeah. It was like going from butter to thumbtacks. It was the only Souls experience I'd had at 60fps and I get that it's because of it being a remaster, but it was incredibly jarring.

I started playing Drake's Fortune remastered and was going to go for the Platinum to pass the time, but then I remembered I'd be going from 60fps Uncharted to 30fps, and I'd rather not do that to my experience. Again it's not that I'm bothered by 30fps, it's when you get used to 60 for a certain thing and then go to 30. With Dark Souls III it took me like 10 hours to adjust to it.

I think we can all agree it's just garbage all around and should be cancelled.

I'd prefer the MP to be 1080/30 because I find jumping from 30 - 60 really jarring.

Thats basically me...i would also have liked that for Battlefield and Star Wars and Mirror's edge. It would have been fine without trying to stretch things in the wrong direction. PS4's ROP count and GPU power make it a lot easier to get full 1080p than trying to get 60fps as well with the CPU issues, so that should have been exploited.

No but I think 60fps for MP is always a good choice. I've always been fine with a consistent 30 though. I was just commenting on the potential of Neo upgrades anyway, not the current PS4.

Yeah i get you, its a reasonable position

Yeah agree on the lighting, I wouldnt say its objectively better or worse, but its definitely more consist with the first 3 games. They'll have plenty of time to try out fancy new lighting techniques in new IPs or TLOU sequels, Uncharted definitely has a visual identity at this point and I can appreciate them trying to stay true to that.

That's incredibly flimsy evidence of "compromises". Every other part of this level looks the same or better. Other comparisons show higher distant LOD, better water, better AA, better motion blur etc. But they re-jigger things all the time for no apparent reason. The top actually looks like another tree was taken away from behind. But I've also seen more buildings added in...

Fuck 30fps. Goddamit it to hell forever. Was hoping to be able to play this game without blur and judder. It would have looked SOO good.

But no, because GRAPHICS. Fuck off.

Why don't they give us the option to choose? They can do 60fps. They did it in MP.

So why Naughty Dog? Give us a patch to run the SP at 900p60.

Because they're the developer and they do what they think is best for the game and what will sell. Do you really think the game could run at 900p60 with the current graphics? Hell no. 60 isn't even that important for Uncharted, I've been playing the remaster at 60 and I'd take better models over higher framerate for it.

EDIT: What the hell? Amazon just shipped my order and it's supposed to get here on the 6th?

Lol. The multiplayer visuals are no where near as good as the single player campaign. I very much doubt simply dropping it to 900p would even be close to sufficient to get a steady 60fps.

Why isn't it important for uncharted?

I think going from 30 to 60fps on any game is a great upgrade.

there's nothing wrong with 30.

why is 60 suddenly such a big deal this gen?

Overinflated expectations by people who saw the allure of PC last gen and people's set ups, who don't really care about the games themselves in the end but just like to complain about not having a 'premium experience'.

As long as the 30fps is solid it should not even matter what the devs prioritize(outside of fighting games and COD, because there is a precedent there). Ratchet and Clank is still successful regardless of 30fps. Uncharted was successful before and it will continue to be. Last of us as well.

I think going from 30 to 60fps on any game is a great upgrade.

Because the people who are playing the game in general don't care about 'upgrading' to a higher refresh as opposed to better fidelity and better experiences on fixed hardware, especially considering people enjoyed games just fine last gen with even worse constraints.

The fact of the matter is, the people who care about FPS as a big priority are very limited on console as opposed to the people who just care about a solid game.

The move to 60fps makes the games way more enjoyable to play due to the way more responsive controls. No idea what you're talking about.

I don't disagree. Frame rate is more important to me than best looking thing ever. But as demands go up for visual fidelity with new consoles, I don't think there's EVER going to be a happy medium.

I mean, there could be, but our demands are stupid. I specifically remember at U4's first gameplay showing how some said it wasn't a big enough leap. This may be why graphics won over frame rate as they were targeting it. Shame really.

Uncharted 4 really has made PC fans insecure as fuck. That Reddit post made the front page twice through that dumbass subreddit.

Not to be petty but performance Is a part of how a game looks so it'll be in the "graphics" category

Why is it divided into diferent metrics then? Like 30/60 fps and 900/1080p. Graphics refer to the later. At least AFAIK.

Wasn't it known since late last year the SP would be 30 and MP 60? For w/e reason this doesn't strike me as sudden or shocking news.

Yes it was. This thread is old and was necro bumped and some people are taking this as news for some bizarre reason.

If you notice, this thread was created in July last year. Bumped for whatever reason, and giving some 60FPSers another chance to complain and preach the virtues of 60fps again.

Or just good motion blur, fluid controls, and/or a set up that allows for reduced input lag?

If this game felt as good as The Order 1866 I would have no complaints. I think they had something reducing input lag in the game. It felt pretty damn responsive for 30fps game.

Not a major deal but I much prefer the lighting in the older image. Gives everything a softer more painterly look (skin, fruit, paving stones). The newer looks more par-for-the-course current gen plasticy.

They really shouldn't. Games aren't static images.

They can prefer whatever they feel like. Video games are 'video' oriented. As much as the gameplay is there, the visual portion is just as important, and they can want that if they feel like it.

If you care about 60fps to that uncompromising degree, your place isn't on a console to begin with, cause even NEO won't fix that.

I'm known for being pro 60fps (I'm sure I've posted and shown this in this thread earlier too) but at this point and in this case I actually think 30fps will be fine. We've already seen The Order, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Quantum Break etc doing just fine at 30fps. 60fps would be better of course but it's not like 30fps will make it unplayable or anything even close to that.

The only thing that could turn Uncharted 4 into a punching bag is that Naughty Dog stated that it would be 60fps and almost mocked those who preffered 30fps at the beginning of the generation.

A future 60fps Neo version will obviously add some saltiness too unless there is an awesome PS4-PS4Neo upgrade program. But the punches should be directed at ND for leading us to believe that PS4 could handle graphics like this at 60fps, not at UC4 for not playing great at 30fps.

At this point I have no worries what so ever that UC4 won't play great at 30fps, I'm currently playing through Quantum Break and enjoying every second of it with zero complaint about input lag, judder or anything else brought up in this thread.
I'm sure the 60fps Nathan Drake Collection -> 30fps Uncharted 4 transition would've been jarring but I'm not playing NDC right now, so no worries here.

Nah. It really didn't. If anything, the Neo update to this title will make OG ps4 owners feel that

Stop. Shit still happens when Neo was not even in the equation. Fanboying is on all platforms and we seen it with The Order.

To dismiss it completely is disingenuous.
