Update: ’90s Arcade Racer and Wii U

does this have split screen? thats all I care in a racing game really

edit:

Yes, but that's pending Unity availability on XO, PS4 and PSV.

We have this footage showing the environments, but no new gameplay footage. Maybe around GDC time.

that game reminds me of the cruis'n games for the n64 and thats great, please tell me that this will have some offline multiplayer options :S

My main issue with this game is that I didn't notice it during it's Kickstarter campaign to help it out earlier. I'm definitely going to be picking this up Day one on Wii U.

Mannn, when i look at this, i miss the good ol Daytona, Super GT, Rave Racer and all those amazing fun racing games made by Sega and Namco... These games were simple yet very very fun and easy to understand with minimal interfaces and all that charm...

I hope we see more indies making stuff like that, i'd definitely buy them !

This game originally was supposed to have three cars and three tracks, but apparently this was being expanded, how many of those are there now? Maybe I just misread, I dunno.

(Reminder: I'm Tyrone Rodriguez, from Nicalis and one of the developers on this game)

The Wii U is actually perfectly capable of doing 1080p, but we wanted to give that up so we can add more visual effects and polish. With AA, running at 720p/60fps the visual fidelity is negligible given that we can add more effects.

Good Choice. Looks great. Nice use of colours.

As a fan of 90s era arcade racers I'm very interested. :D

Oh try and get some video up as soon as you can; I would love to see this in motion.

We'd like all our games to come out everywhere, including Japan/Asia.

Currently figuring out our options for Japan, which would include everything we're doing for 3DS, Wii U and PSN.

Tyrone you are simply the man. Nuff said. Take your time bro! As for Japan, they love their arcade racers. I'm sure they will be delighted and hopefully stunned, at how good this game turns out to be. I'm hoping for a really large online mp community on the PC version, especially from players in Japan.

Millions of players from all around the world playing 90's Arcade Racer online with their force feedback wheels and drifting in tandem and unison to some kick ass trance beats.

IT'S GOING TO BE ONE GIANT ARCADE RACING DRIFTING POOL PARTY!!!!!!

We don't know yet. I'd rather release an amazing local multiplayer experience THEN follow it up post-release with a free update.

I know it's not ideal to players, but, to me, I'd rather have more people playing first then doing it then having everyone wait for an online component.

I'm fine with this... making it online if it's popular enough. In the meantime I hope you're considering a robust leaderboard, time-attack style. Worldwide/Friends/Country/Weekly, that sort of thing!

Six cars (Three Supercars, two Stockcars, one Formula and a patridge in a pear tree) and six tracks in four enviroments (Island Short, Island Long, Oval Speedway, Oval Infield, Airport, Mountain).

I can easily wait for online multiplayer to be implemented at some point, but having LEADERBOARDS/Time trials/Time Attack/etc. is mandatory for my arcade racer's fix to be satisfying

I hear you on that Dash.

But nothing beats that adrenaline rush you get from rubbing fender to fender with a real human driver that online mp brings. It should be sick! :)

A question for the devs... Any plans for future DLC for 90's Arcade Racer? If the game is as good as it looks I would definitely buy new tracks down the line.

I've also long thought that DLC music packs would be something worth considering in games like this. I'd gladly pay a few dollars to get new music after the original OST has started to feel a bit repetitive. I could see that being a lucrative avenue for both publishers and musicians.

Really not a huge fan of thread bumps, but with so many games being delayed into 2015, I was trying to think about the games still scheduled for this year, and this is one I have had my eye on for a LONG time. Any word yet on this being shown at CES? I sure hope so, and also hoping for a release really soon! :)

Don't you mean E3?

I sure hope we see/hear more about this game soon. I missed out on the KS, but I'm definitely in for a day one purchase on Wii U (and maybe double or triple dips on others) when it's released.

I did mean E3. Brian fart. I missed the KS as well, but if it turns out as SEGA-GLORY days as it looks, I will gladly support it. :)

I love this train of thought, once you dont mess with the 60fps then I am more then fine with 720p especially if you are adding AA.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

I went to the Nicalis panel at Anime Expo in July and someone asked about the game they said it was in development still and they didn't have a release date yet. I can't remember what exactly they said (sorry, I have a dog shit memory) but it sounded like it wouldn't be until end of the year/early next.
