US PSN Golden Week sale 5/2-5/8

Somewhat antiquated by current standards, but all the fundamentals are there, and there's still a lot of content in it. The only make thing missing is online multiplayer since the portable ones were local only at the time. You can still do the multiplayer quests solo, but the monsters' stats are scaled with the expectation of multiple players.

If you have a PS3, you can use Ad-Hoc for online. Though I don't know how many new players will be in it. Or players at all, lol.

Steins;Gate isn't on PS4? lame

Also I've never played valkyria chronicles but I've got it sitting in my backlog for pc, is it worth picking up the remastered version for PS4 instead or just play through the original version on pc?

Does BlazBlue Central Fiction ever get the English DLC? I recall how it was a possibility some months ago. If so, I may pick it up, if not, well I can keep waiting.

PC version is better. There's some really neat mods and other than that it's the same game. Also can be had for dirt cheap.

I snagged a PSTV for a BARGAIN.

The trick is that Vita memory cards cost as much as the PSTV itself. And I have yet to bring myself to get one.

Did anyone ever make a decent price knock off?
yea thats the trouble with a digital copy. The Vita TV can play a physical P4G without a card with no issues.

A used 8GB is less than $20 i think. Best bet if P4 is all you really care about

I have a 20% OFF code I got from Horizon, so I'm looking at Gravity Rush 2 and Digimon World Next Order for about 60.

The Star Wars sale is underwhelming. The Ultimate Edition (the one with all the DLC) of Battlefront was cheaper a couple weeks ago.

Korra isn't that bad

Its what you expect from a TV show tie in game. I would only recommend it for big fans of the show.

Really tempted to get Ys
Is that the cheapest its been? How long is that game? I've bought too many damn RPGs in the past few months

Square refuses to give a bigger discount to DQ:Builders, fuck. It's the third sale already and the same shitty deal, come on no one is buying this game anymore, give me the -70% deal already!

All sound interesting, but based on your reviews and the prices, I think I'll pick RIVE for now. Thank you very much for the insight.

Korra is a budget Platinum title. I really liked considering it came out cheap ($15 at launch IIRC).

The battle system is nowhere close to Bayonetta, but I would say it's something akin to the Transformers games (simple battle system, but with enough depth to be fun)

Deception IV is a great puzzle game. The main objective is to chain traps and the game is filled with content that will keep pushing your skills.

Sometimes you have to use the scenario in the middle of a chain. Other times there are enemies invulnerable to some traps, while vulnerable to others. Other times the game requests you to chain traps in a specific way and a lot more.

It takes a while to learn, but you can play this game for a long, long time if you end up liking it.

Hmmmm.... I think you sold me on Deception, but I see there are two Deception IVs on the store. Blood Ties (not on sale) and Nightmare Princess (on sale). Anyone have the 411 on this (could google but on the way out the door).

How's Dragon Quest Heroes and Atelier? Thinking about getting those.

Dragon Quest Heroes is... .a fun-ish musou. There's a little bit of action tower defense mixed in, as you achieve goals and destroy spawn points, etc... but mostly, just straight action... oh, and grinding materials. Lots of that, too.

I enjoyed it for quite awhile, thought I might plat it, but burnt out on materials grinding and realized I was finding the combat just a bit soulless overall... even though it wasn't terrible by any means. Maybe just a bit too easy? But still, it's a fun take on the franchise if you don't mind musou.

Atelier -- haven't played all, but they are basically well done crafting rpgs. You go to an area mostly to get materials to put in a pot and craft. The crafting is deep, and you'll eventually be recrafting everything with better materials [say, you have everything made with tap water, but get some holy water, and remake everything in that crafting tree].
Most of them have time limits, which makes me dislike the games quite a bit... the time limit is usually generous, but it still drives me crazy because I never know if i'm wasting too much time crafting or not [things might take 19 days to craft, so it's a big decision]. I've tried and enjoyed 3 of them, before finally stopping due to crafting ocd / time limit nonsense. I believe the more/most recent games finally dropped this but someone else can speak to that.

Hmm Garou and either Last Blade 2 or Samurai showdown 6...
What are the consensus on those two?

Garou and Last Blade 2 are fantastic and completely worth it. Samurai Shodown VI is okay but it's not the best in the series. It's basically a non-canon dream match game and the atmosphere and tone are a lot lighter than the Neo Geo games' ambient moodiness.

Crap, half of my wishlist is on sale right now. Too bad Yakuza 0 or Hatsune Miku weren't there, but I'll settle for Gravity Rush 2, Steins;Gate 0, the NieR Automata DLC, and the rest will have to wait.

Is Furi good? All I know about it is Carpenter Brut did the music.

Furi is wicked. Think it was free on PS+ a while ago. Multi-phase boss battles one after the other. Got a Souls-feel from it myself. Very challenging but fair in the same way. Getting the bosses down is satisfying as hell, had a lot of white knuckle moments. Still have to go back and try it on the hardest mode too.

Can anyone tell me if I'll be missing a lot from Nier: Automata if I haven't played the first game? I played the shit out of the OG Drakengard as a kid and I'm pretty sure I know the basic link between those two but haven't touched 2/3/Nier.

Celceta being 10.99 is fucking annoying, I'd need to buy a $20 PSN card just for this
Looks like I'll continue waiting for this game
TBF i would have some change in my account if I didn't buy cold steel avatars oops :3

Steins;Gate is pretty tempting but I'd honestly rather play it on PC even though I doubt it'll be this low any time soon there

Blood Ties is the original release for PS3 and Vita. Nightmare Princess is the re-release for PS4 and Vita, and includes a second protagonist with her own campaign. Buy Nightmare Princess.

So Persona 4 is $8, should I get a PS TV (I've seen them as cheap as $30) or look for a Vita

If you're only gonna play P4G then get the PSTV but if you can find a Vita super cheap, then most of your indie collection on PS4 (if you have a PS4 and have been stockpiling with Plus) is suddenly available on the go. Switch is great, but it's library is still really small if you're looking for a large variety of stuff to play on the go.

I'll also say that playing P4G portably is an experience I wouldn't trade. I definitely enjoyed it that way more than the weeks I've spent on the couch playing P5.

But again, the price difference is nothing to sneeze at so it has to be worth it to you.

Does anyone have any opinions on

LetsFishHookedOn.jpg

Is it a competent fishing game?

Stay. Away.

Fuck. Tried to buy Nier: Automata from my phone, got an incomplete purchase error. Checked transaction history, says "missed charges," which Google tells me means Sony's server derped (been using the same PayPal account forever, definitely nothing wrong there). Tried one more time, shits and giggles...same error.

Not even gonna bother calling Sony, I know how well that'll go. I'll just wait until I'm home from work, try on my Pro. Fuck it.

Never played any of the Monster Hunters before. How's Freddom Unite?
best in the series before the 3ds games. being a fusion of all the games before it means you also get a ton of content. second analog controls were sacrificed when adapting the gameplay from ps2 to psp, so it can be rough unless you're playing on vita.
