It doesn't even run Windows by default... It has SteamOs. So...
And what does "too powerful" mean?![]()
Ummm, you can download any of those on this.
The average consumer is not buying this.
Serious question. Will I be able to play Total War games on this bad boy, including older games like Med 2. If so this is a day one purchase.
But who is buying it then?
I feel like there could have been a place for this in the casual market if they made it, well more casual.
You can uninstall SteamOS and install Windows. So yes, even Game Pass. Can you buy games from competing stores?
Why wouldn't you?Serious question. Will I be able to play Total War games on this bad boy, including older games like Med 2. If so this is a day one purchase.

Although it will suck ass on small 800p screen
So you wanted them to make their own completely different OS for which every game studio would have to specifically port the game to so there would be almost no game at launch?Price doesnt compensate for the lack of storage and not even custom gaming OS.
Well it is linux so they must use some emulation for non native linux apps because they say EVERYTHING works which was never the case with linuxI actually like it, but SteamOS seems like it'll reduce how many games you have access to, also I'd imagine installing a different OS, such as windows, will cause compatability issues with the extra buttons and trackpads.
Proton does make a lot of games playable on linux but it's not the entire library as they're claiming. Any game with anti-cheat doesn't work at all, such as PUBG or Apex. Valve claims to be working directly with anti-cheat companies to get it sorted before launch, though, so we'll see.Well it is linux so they must use some emulation for non native linux apps because they say EVERYTHING works which was never the case with linux
No way. 1070 is l ike 6tflops aloneDoes anyone know if a Steam Deck is better than a Geforce 1070?
No way. 1070 is l ike 6tflops alone
they claim 1.65tf which is not too bad but also it's running very low resolution and your laptop is probably fullhd, so steam deck will be less demanding. Thanks, I was wondering if I should upgrade from my laptop to this but it sounds like it's not worthwhile. What's the Steam Deck, 2tflops?
You must REALLY hate the Switch OLED then.

If you only game, goind steam deck might not be a bad idea
You shouldn't expect exclusive titles for this.Nope, Nintendo isn't going for power. They're delivering Nintendo style experiences. That said, I may have spoken a little too soon here. It sounds like this may not be just a device to play Steam PC titles, but may actually be getting exclusives made for it with possible dev kits.
That makes it a very big threat to Switch if the games are actually there.
I thought preorders were today? Can onyl see the option to wishlist
haha of course. It is crazy to think, if you had rtx card, 1080p games could look almost as good as 4k games with dlssYeah, my laptop is full HD but it's connected to my 4K TV. I'm assuming games at 1080p would look better on my TV than games at 720p.
lol
Don't hold your breath. This is the sort of think I expect Sony to do for PS5 remote and PSNow

Is a pretty bad proposal imo.
We have fundamentally different views of what video games are and can be, then.Ideally, the player shouldn't have any say in how a game performs.
No, it's not about that at all. You can do better than weak strawman ad-hominem attacks.Having a "say" in how it performs is just a way for PC enthusiasts to boast about how powerful their rig is and how long is their neckbeard.
No, but I think you'll be able to access Xbox gamepass for PC anyway as you can do anything you can do on a pc. You're not restricted to Steam. This is a very intriguing proposition. I´m a 100% console player for years now. The current prices for good PC parts definitely scared me even further away from getting a proper PC again. But at the same time, I would love to have one and to play some PC exclusives.
This thing is affordable, can access a great gaming library from the start and is technically advanced enough to play modern triple A games on medium to high settings! This is big and it fills a market that Nintendo was never able to step in. If the final reviews are good I´m going to bite the bullet and get one.
Edit:
Question to all of you PC and XBOX folks. Is it possible to access Gamepass through Steam?
I have an i5-based tablet hybrid UMPC with an HD4000 iGPU as my only "gaming" machine. It is rare for any semi-modern game to even consider the kind of machine I have as a possible hardware choice. I played through and completed XCOM2 by taking a sledgehammer to the config files and pushing the game's visuals lower than they were ever intended to be. I experiment with settings and play games at resolutions as low as 540p and 640x360. It's horrendous to look at, by any measure, but as long as I can make out the UI and the gameplay is engaging, I don't really care - having a say in how a game looks, and therefore performs, is far more than boasting material for me.Having a "say" in how it performs is just a way for PC enthusiasts to boast about how powerful their rig is and how long is their neckbeard.
So, who is the baby now, all because you can't tolerate other peoples opinions.Only if you breed
Can someone compare this GPU to a standard PC one please? For example, is it better than a 1660ti?
Thanks!
You can install any operating system or software in it. Don't worry about access to services.Question to all of you PC and XBOX folks. Is it possible to access Gamepass through Steam?
