Valve releases Source Filmmaker beta (Up: Now open for everyone!)

Anyone else get terrible performance in the viewport? moving anything causes the fps to drop to 5fps. Theres a few people on the steam forums with the same problem.

I'm really annoyed. I started downloading 2 nights ago, and woke up to around 60% download. I get back from work last night then resume downloading again. Guess what? Back to 0% WTF.

I had the same issue yesterday. I'm gonna try delete it and download it again. If that doesn't work, I 'm probably bailing out until it gets fixed :/

Doing a remake of rvb ep1. Waiting for the latest update to get sorted out. Supposed to enable 1080 exporting but it still doesn't work.

Has anyone else had this problem? When I render my video it has this white line streaking diagonally across the screen. It was there when I filmed too, but I thought it was part of the camera or something.

EDIT: Here's a pic:

Oh...OH. Well done indeed.

I don't know. I watched it 10 years ago so I don't remember details but:

if they made it a carbon copy in its length they failed because when McDowell stared people down he did it with his eyes which are naturally alive and these few seconds at the beginning when he does nothing he is actually LOOKING at people and you can read his eyes. A model can't do this so they could put a jpeg of his face there for a few seconds instead of "live footage" and had the same dead eyes, face, etc.

also tables creep me out as I remember them in Cubrick's film.

Anyone else have a problem with importing .wav's? Tried with a few different programms, if i just play them they are fine but for some reason in SFM they are silent, i can see the waveform but they have no sound.

What Programms do you guys use to extract the Audio from your Videos?

Might have been made with the other version of SFM.

Even if I never animate anything, would this be a good choice to create high quality still renders without any sort of knowledge of 3D software? For comics and what not, gmod makes things easy but I'd prefer something a bit more polished.

Could well have been, SFM was accidentally included in the TF2 Beta, and people fine with using warez copies have been playing with it and uploading shit to youtube for well over a year now.

I think people fine with people fine using warez copies includes Valve, especially since they likely never planned on charging for it.

My first attempt at facial animation. Needs some work.

But any idea how to make my video look better when I render it? When I render with the MPEG-4 codec, its way too dark, and the H.264 is way too washed out.
How do I get it looking really good like a lot of other videos out there?
I had youtube fix the lighting so it looks better now, but still, doesn't look great at all.

I just got hold of this, I can see where a lot of my spare time will be spent now.

Doing a little animation test with a bored Engineer right at the mo, hope to have it finished tomorrow. Here's a still:

Love it. Reminds me of when I passed 60 hours as an Engie. I thought "I've essentially stared at a turret for 60+ hours". Depressing day, that was.
