Vegetables are disgusting

I'm Asian so I naturally can eat anything... Veggies, live animals, tendons, bugs, whatever... I even take my pills without water...

I think its really how you were raised... My mom used to sit next to me with a switch during dinner and would rap my hand with it whenever I didn't eat veggies... I thank her now that I can win Fear Factor

Various veggies + bit of olive oil + herbs + sea salt n pepper + baking in the oven = best.

I'm almost the same with fruits. For me it has something to do with the texture. Bananas I can eat, and oranges I can bite into but usually just suck the juice out and toss the peels in the trash(don't like the pulp).

There are some vegetables I don't like though, such as green peas and asparagus.

Your best bet would probably be to just cut down on the portions of what you like to eat to help with the eating better part and just chug, chug, chug some water.

I'm with you OP.
30 and just can't eat vegetables. The taste, the texture...it's all just...ugh, disgusting.

It's pretty much the same with fruit though.

Meaning that healthy food is virtually non-existent in my diet....I really should try and do something about that...

But yeah, I'm 'that guy' who goes into McDonalds and asks for a burger without the lettuce, pickle, tomato, etc. It's "Only Cheese, Ketchup and Mustard on it"

This thread inspires me to continue losing weight. I'm 196.7 and need to lose 23.2 lbs. I was 207.5 a month ago.

I want to avoid health complications from being overweight in the future.

I find that the various berries are a pretty good introduction to 'fruits and veggies'. Blackberries, blue berries, raspberries, even the fake berry, strawberry. They do not have much calories, tastes great, full of anti-oxidants, rich in fiber and do not spike up your blood sugar level that much.

the worst vegetable is water chestnuts. everything else is alright

Seriously? Even in chinese food?

My wife eats like you, OP. Still eating like a child, which drives me crazy.

Thankfully, she's gotten better since I've forced her to try new things, so she's eating salads now and she likes the occasional veggie food like artichoke dip (surprisingly enough), but all seafood is still off the table, as well as chinese food, mexican, and most green veggies.

Drives me fucking bonkers.

water chestnuts just taste very bland and I hate the texture/hardness. They feel so out of place in every dish. My mom puts them in when she makes food, and man...just terrible

Broccoli is the scum of the earth, literally smells like a soiled diaper to me..

I can do normal stuff like onions/spinach salad/tomatoes/etc

But you can keep your broccoli/okra/ and any other leafy green smelly shit

There are a ton of veggies I can't stand. I'm working on it though. I feel like all the years I spent eating fast food wrecked my tastebuds. Salad is about the extent of my vegetable delights. I don't like broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, asparagus, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, celery, brussel sprouts, parsnips, etc.

Damn, Raw broccoli with some dip is GOAT. Or cooked in a wok with some chedder ontop.

Lawd. Brussel sprouts too, so good.

What is this thing with not liking certain things and being childish?
I eat some vegetables, but others genuinely make me gag.

Do i have to pretend to like them while stomping 'em down my throat,
ignoring the gag reflex so i can finally call myself an adult?

Screw that.

PS. if you need to force yourself to start liking it, it was never good in the first place.
Same with masking the flavor by pouring on tons of spices.

Yea thats me with broccoli, literally kills my appetite and gag reflexes are at MAX

People like this are weird. There is a dude in our card group that won't eat mushrooms on a pizza. Like he stopped evolving at the age of 8 or something.

Generally speaking, I don't eat a lot of vegetables. It's not like I never eat them though. I'll eat a salad now and then. Might snack on some carrots.

Probably the only vegetable I eat regularly is corn and potatoes because they are in everything it seems.

But nah, very seldom do I eat vegetable because I find most of them not very appetizing.

It's just different tastes man. Generally speaking I don't mind if vegetable are on my pizza but don't you dare put black olives on there. Nasty. In fact, I'm the only one in my family that ever gets mushrooms on my pizza. The rest either refuse to eat them or don't like them at all.

God damn, this thread is smug. I don't have an issue with most vegetables, but reading through this makes me want to set a produce section on fire out of spite. Who gives a shit if someone doesn't like a vegetable or two? How the hell does one being a "picky eater" effect you in the slightest?

There's a fuck ton of vegetables out there and everyone is bound to find enough that they consider palatable. You don't need to love every vegetable. You can have a healthy diet without the amazing stroke-preventing properties of broccoli touted by GAF M.D.
