Rofl. The best thing as always is to wait for DF at least simply as a second opinion
Yes this is a perfect test. Those guys have all the versions, they don't know the theoretical resolutions and just compare the sharpness by visual comparison. Without surprise they don't know why but they clearly see the ground with more details on PS5 and they say the PS5 version looks better because of this. They also say the One X looks better (sharper) than the Pro so for them and judging by apparent sharpness of image:
Pro < One X < XSX < PS5
Great, Now fire up your ps5 and take the same screenshots.Intrigued, I restarted the game and tried to find a single "washed out" texture. Here are some screenshots, obviously take compression into account ...but you can download the image to realize for yourself the nonsense of certain topics
Please stop with this washed-out texture nonsense created by some fanboy for obvious reasons
You mean the guys who stated FIFA 21 was native 4K on XSS when it was actually 1080p?The best thing as always is to wait for DF at least simply as a second opinion
It's all it looks like to my untrained eyes, I do need new glasses though lol. AF can make a big difference to IQ more than res in a lot of cases imo. It's a bit more than that.
I don’t do passive aggressive, I confront head on like I have with you.I'll tell you the same many people may feel insulted by your way of doing what I have seen done before me with others) be careful the reports are for this
True but the Outriders difference is larger. It's all it looks like to my untrained eyes, I do need new glasses though lol. AF can make a big difference to IQ more than res in a lot of cases imo.
PS4 in the pic above is a higher res, but look at the floor.
You are posting a gif that proves my point. Thanks I guessNope
Don't argue things you don't understand. It's a bit more than that.
They would look the same but lower res because textures are at right angles.Great, Now fire up your ps5 and take the same screenshots.
Nope
However the longest frame time is on the PS5 (at 33ms VS 50ms on both the X and the S... it probably happened twice, but it happened.Code:Platforms PS5 Xbox Series X Xbox Series S Frame Amounts Game Frames 20875 20872 20874 Video Frames 20890 20890 20890 Frame Tearing Statistics Total Torn Frames 0 0 0 Lowest Torn Line - - - Frame Height 2160 2160 2160 Frame Time Statistics Mean Frame Time 16.68ms 16.68ms 16.68ms Median Frame Time 16.67ms 16.67ms 16.67ms Maximum Frame Time 33.33ms 50ms 50ms Minimum Frame Time 16.67ms 16.67ms 16.67ms 95th Percentile Frame Time 16.67ms 16.67ms 16.67ms 99th Percentile Frame Time 16.67ms 16.67ms 16.67ms Frame Rate Statistics Mean Frame Rate 59.96fps 59.95fps 59.95fps Median Frame Rate 60fps 60fps 60fps Maximum Frame Rate 60fps 60fps 60fps Minimum Frame Rate 55fps 56fps 55fps 5th Percentile Frame Rate 60fps 60fps 60fps 1st Percentile Frame Rate 59fps 59fps 59fps Frame Time Counts 16.67ms 20860 (99.93%) 20855 (99.92%) 20859 (99.93%) 33.33ms 15 (0.07%) 16 (0.08%) 14 (0.07%) 50ms 0 (0%) 1 (0%) 1 (0%) Other Dropped Frames 0 0 0 Runt Frames 0 0 0 Runt Frame Thresholds 20 rows 20 rows 20 rows

It’s a microcosm of the x itself.True but the Outriders difference is larger.
This isn't the first PS5 game to have more details but lower resolution.
That reminds me of Dirt 5 for some reason.Nope
It speaks for itself. You are posting a gif that proves my point. Thanks I guess
Don't argue things you don't understand.
They would look the same but lower res because textures are at right angles.
That's a significant difference!Code:Platforms PS5 Xbox Series X Xbox Series S Frame Amounts Game Frames 20875 20872 20874 Video Frames 20890 20890 20890 Frame Tearing Statistics Total Torn Frames 0 0 0 Lowest Torn Line - - - Frame Height 2160 2160 2160 Frame Time Statistics Mean Frame Time 16.68ms 16.68ms 16.68ms Median Frame Time 16.67ms 16.67ms 16.67ms Maximum Frame Time 33.33ms 50ms 50ms Minimum Frame Time 16.67ms 16.67ms 16.67ms 95th Percentile Frame Time 16.67ms 16.67ms 16.67ms 99th Percentile Frame Time 16.67ms 16.67ms 16.67ms Frame Rate Statistics Mean Frame Rate 59.96fps 59.95fps 59.95fps Median Frame Rate 60fps 60fps 60fps Maximum Frame Rate 60fps 60fps 60fps Minimum Frame Rate 55fps 56fps 55fps 5th Percentile Frame Rate 60fps 60fps 60fps 1st Percentile Frame Rate 59fps 59fps 59fps Frame Time Counts 16.67ms 20860 (99.93%) 20855 (99.92%) 20859 (99.93%) 33.33ms 15 (0.07%) 16 (0.08%) 14 (0.07%) 50ms 0 (0%) 1 (0%) 1 (0%) Other Dropped Frames 0 0 0 Runt Frames 0 0 0 Runt Frame Thresholds 20 rows 20 rows 20 rows

It shows af difference like I said. Again, please stop arguing things you don't understand. It speaks for itself.
I think the shadow maps are the same, they are just smudged by the AF setting like the rest of the image. The resolution difference will go unoticed by many but most will definitely notice the sharper looking textures on PS5.
You would be able to see neither unless you are Spiderman or something... that AF at normal playing angles is pretty obvious, no need to do anything else than point it out, nobody will ask you what you are talking about, series X would probably look better by running the game at 480p with higher AF than what they are doing now. They would look the same but lower res because textures are at right angles.
If you got someone to just play both versions of this game with the point of having fun enjoying the game I would bet they won't notice a difference beyond controller.I never really care about these comparisons.... The best version you can get is for the console you have.
That said there are people here that will say its a win for the PS5 no matter what and it's hilarious. If you can dish it out at least be humble enough to accept sometimes you might 'lose'. Are some people really bragging about 0.01% more in frames over 15% less resolution.
Yes.... but there is a difference in IQ don't you think?I never really care about these comparisons.... The best version you can get is for the console you have.

The screenshots in question were from an overhead straight down view. My statement stands as correct.I think the shadow maps are the same, they are just smudged by the AF setting like the rest of the image.

and what would be the impact of an higher AF on series consoles (it's not free, not expensive, but not free).
Correct, but useless... If they fix the AF the resolution will be lowered to accommodate it, we don't know how low they will have to go to keep the framerate as stable as it is now (it already drop, very little, but it does drop). The screenshots in question were from an overhead straight down view. My statement stands as correct.
At least 43%* more for the xbox! That's a significant difference!
Textures at certain angles look better yes. I was never arguing anything different. I was arguing the ps5 has better textures which is does not.Correct, but useless... So as it is the game looks much better on PS5--unless you keep the camera over the head of the character for some reason, but I don't play third person shooters by looking straight at the ground.
AF issues aren’t seen in top down view. Take some photos when you’re looking straight ahead instead.Intrigued, I restarted the game and tried to find a single "washed out" texture. Those angles are the way the game is played however. This is not an overhead isometric shooter surely.Textures at certain angles look better yes. I was never arguing anything different. I was arguing the ps5 has better textures which is does not.
Edit
Also people think dudes screenshots would look better on ps5, which again is incorrect since the angle the screenshot was taken wouldn't show af differences.
It depends how you play it, I'm sure my 4 years old would play it like that. Those angles are the way the game is played however. This is not an overhead isometric shooter surely.
Holy fuck learn to read. Again I'm not arguing that. I'm simply arguing the ps5 has better textures which it does not. Those angles are the way the game is played however. This is not an overhead isometric shooter surely.
You also said....It shows af difference like I said. Again, please stop arguing things you don't understand.
Example. If you were to take the camera and look straight down the 2 pics would look the same except Xbox would look better because it's higher res.
Yes of that guys screenshots which were taken at a right angle. Learn to read and stop arguing things you don't understand. You also said....
"They would look the same but lower res because textures are at right angles."
Keep embarrassing yourself if you like.
In most games the difference between 4x-16x filtering is a negligible impact on performance. It can, and should, be patched and then the xbox will still have essentially the same framerate and an almost 15% on average rez advantage. Sheesh its like baby's first pc game in here...Correct, but useless... If they fix the AF the resolution will be lowered to accommodate it, we don't know how low they will have to go to keep the framerate as stable as it is now (it already drop, very little, but it does drop).

Series X appears to have at most a 32% pixel pushing advantage. In other words, it can also easily match on AF. Watch it get fixed in a patch.
You say "negligible", give me a number so I know why you are calling me name and you sound so knowledgeable... I mean, I said myself that the cost was small, but we don't know exactly what it would mean in the end.In most games the difference between 4x-16x filtering is a negligible impact on performance. Af is memory bandwidth heavy so if you have lots of bandwidth available there is a zero fps deficit. If you are low on bandwidth af will have more fps hit.You say "negligible", give me a number so I know why you are calling me name and you sound so knowledgeable... Seriously.
They’re saving that for Outriders 2:InridersHow is this game not 4k60 rock solid on all nextgen consoles?!
How is this game not 4k60 rock solid on all nextgen consoles?!
Because AF costs FPS. Is there any other multiplat on series X at higher res which runs the same of the ps5 as Outriders? I don't think it's a coincidence. Not gonna lie, but I'm on the side of PS5 here. There's no point in a resolution advantage for Xbox if the textures look like soup.
However, I do believe this game shows the Xbox Series X has a power advantage due to the pixel count. The thing I don't understand is why would the AF be so bad on Series? I just throw 16X AF on everything on my PC and I don't notice a massive difference in performance.
Af requires memory bandwidth. Since PC's don't share between cpu and GPU they usually have an abundance. Consoles share bandwidth so af could effect performance more on them. Not gonna lie, but I'm on the side of PS5 here. Bandwidth is the best guess right now.Not gonna lie, but I'm on the side of PS5 here. There's no point in a resolution advantage for Xbox if the textures look like soup.
