I also didn't get it until the edit. The turret looks for the baby, finds the baby, and kills the baby. It's so straightforward that it didn't occur to me to actually look at the baby.

Most of the other posts in this thread outline how I feel about VGCats... good artwork, just crappy, crappy planning. Scott needs a writer/sidekick badly to keep him in check.

Phoenix's edit is a great example of how, given help, Scott's work can truly shine.

The original comic actually had a joke in it, the gunning down wasn't really necessary. If you've played portal, the turrets say the exact things in that comic and they sound very friendly. So it makes it sound like they're playing hide 'n seek.

I think the first panel and last panel should be cut. We don't need the mom to explain that the turret is babysitting, and we don't need to see the baby actually die. Have the turret shooting panel for the punchline and only imply that the baby is being shot; leave the baby's fate ambiguous.

No I beat Portal so I get the "Joke" I just don't see how I can be expected to laugh at what boils down to shootig a baby in the face. It's like the Carlos Mencia of Webcomic humor
