I know there's a AOU thread going on, but these pics deserves it's own thread.
Damn, this game looks hot.
Very nice models and water-effects.
Best looking fighter to date imo.

Edit:
new AOU cam-video trailer at IGN.
It's better than nothing, looks awesome.
And yeah, the muddy water does not reflect the character. But maybe that's becos it's not finished(?)

Delicious. This has one of the best lighting models ever created, imo. And the backgrounds look massively better than I was thinking, from the lower res stuff released. I definitely think it's the best looking fighter ever, quite handily.

NOW WHERE IS MY FUCKING HD DIRECT FEED VIDEOS SEGA

Somebody has gotta get a video of that desert stage (it looks like they took the arena from the candle cave in VF4).

Looks very very nice, but there are a few technical issues too. No players reflections in the muddy water? Jagged looking wood floor? That's a bit surprising.
Still, very good looking :)

omg the jaggies are poking my eyes out!

But serious, wow, this looks great and I always preferred the VF gameplay to DOA. I must see a video of that fight going on in the water!

Holy Definition Batman! This game looks awesome! :D

Too bad arcades are pretty non-existant here in The Netherlands. I would play the shit out of this game, if only there were more places I could play an arcadegame. Let alone it being put in the arcades here. :(

Urm, these are resized(Sega still has not released pics in native rez)and the graphical problems stem from that.
And these still dont show of how nice the game looks.

Does it have to do with nVidia's 7800 and HDR lighting?
In which case you wouldn't get AA?

Maybe someone is feeling kind enough to put a couple of the pictures on one of those free image host things (that aren't blocked where I am... watch.impress is =/)?

I want to revel in the beauty as well!

What I would love to see eventually is the players clothing effected by the arena. Id love to see pants get muddy and soggy when in dirty water. Its probally too much to expect in this coming/current gen but it'd be cool nonetheless.

Does this work for you?

Is it confirmed Lindbergh is using a 7800? I thought no one was sure if it was running a 7800 or a 6800.

It's a safe bet to say its a 7800 -- probably reference boards from nvidia (likely nearly off the shelf card too)... the speed is the only thing that I'd wonder about (450-550?). I doubt you could coerce a 6800 into doing VF5. It also wouldn't really make sense for the market either (and the cost -- the arcade lindbergh units won't be sold at losses... so there isn't a real reason to use a card that performs at possibly 50% of a 7800 just to save something like ~$100-150).

Who knows though...

Well you answered that one yourself. :lol

Ugh, that stage with Eileen and El Blaze in the cage is giving me serious Land of the Lost vibes - in a bad way.

Come on PS3 version!

Muddy water still reflects, it's just more diffuse/faint.

They were too busy making sure the breasts had proper JumbliePhysics (TM) to worry about a proper lighting system.

Bah, even their breast physics is lacking. I want bouncing undulating breasts knocking against each other, but DOA4's doesn't seem that much improved over previous games in the series. Namco does a better job at breasts (at least in the soul calibur series).

"I doubt its geforce 7800 since they are using P3.0 ghz processor."

I don't see how that's related at all. That said, I agree with f0nn about the price. It really doesn't make sense from a money point of view to not use a 7800.

what're you guys talking about? there are reflections in the muddy water.

anyway, to the guy that said tekken 5 looks better.... :lol

vf5 definitely has awesome character models, great faces and clothing, but the environments technically are a bit lacking. it realy goes to show how good lighting and self shadowing really make the game stand out. doa4 probably would destroy it if it had it to, but alas. vf5 is the king of graphics (and gameplay).

There's major ripples going on in that muddy water, and the other pic is at an angle not showing the floor. Oddly enough, the background is reflected in the water.

That's such nitpicking though...these pics look great. Has a lot of what I'm looking for in next gen games...rounded objects and characters, realistic lighting effects, and very detailed structures, all at a fast framerate of 60fps. Combine that with some varied and detailed animation...great stuff.
