Vita has no games... compared to?

On my main memory card:

GzxbDAq.jpg

There's no other handheld device that can you give the same experience as when playing these games on the vita. It's simply superb and they cover a pretty wide range. Especially for people with a western taste in games.

This so much.

Also, here are my games on my main memory card.

Compared to everything but the wii u.
No doubt it's a matter of taste. Im still not persuaded to get a 3ds either.
So are we comparing a little more than a year of vita games to 7 years old lineups of ps360, psp and wii and a year older 3ds?
People have strange expectations, did people really pretend vita to born with a lineup comparable to the actual of the ps360?

I think they are lacking a bit with games, especially compared to 3DS. Still, I'd love Sony to announce some type of major connectivity to PS4 at E3. A price drop (or bundles with added value) would have me seriously consider picking one up if I go with a PS4 (which looks likely pending MS reveal blowing me away).

I'm probably one of the few people who owns a Vita and not a PS3. I love the fact that I can play "ports" if you will of PS3 games. One of the reasons I bought a Vita was Persona 4, but the first game I actually bought for it was Mortal Kombat. I love the MK series and can't play it on anything else besides my Vita. I don't know that it's fair to 100% say oh well that game is on the PS3 so it doesn't count. I'm mostly a handheld gamer so if something is available on both I'd see it more as a plus than anything.

Sell me on the 3DS with current/upcoming list.

Also with Nintendo's approach to the WiiU at the moment, I'm finding it hard to commit to Nintendo as opposed to Sony. (Not a fanboy of either btw)

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon.

Fantastic adventure/puzzle game, sort of similar to an old point and click, lots of personality, very fun, fun multiplayer.

Kid Icarus Uprising

Take Diablo, Star Fox and Anarchy Reigns, add hysterically funny characters and a decent plot, add AMAZING multiplayer and boom. Control schemes a bit awkward but wasn't too bad for me personally.

Super Mario 3D Land

The best blend of 3d and 2d sidescrolling ever, this is one of my favorite Mario games. Lots of content, best use of 3d (aside from maybe Kid Icarus's flying sections.

Mario Kart 7

Great addition to the Mario Kart franchise, lots of fun with great multiplayer. Not that different from previous entries but still worth a purchase.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Fantastic game, great characters, really challenging SRPG, but very fair. Good for newcomers to SRPG's (like myself) with an excellent learning curve, and tons of content, especially dlc, both free and paid.

Harmonight

Amazing rythm game, really fun, good difficulty curve, great original songs and a great world an character design.

Take the Vita's situation, rename it Wii U. Both are suffering pretty much the exact same thing (lack of exposure, lack of killer apps, lack of big name exclusives, too high of a price tag, etc).

There, I've come at you in such a way that you can't take it as someone attacking your fanboyism.

Seriously, if you can't look at what's out on the Vita (or again the Wii U) and see why a lot of people are severely disappointed with what's currently out for it, not sure what to tell you.

It's 3DS, mister.

Waiting for inevitable SmokeyDave post, list warz and a lot of shitposting.
Spose I'd better earn my wage then.

Vita has no games. Whilst I personally think the library is fucking killer, there are certain types of games that you aren't allowed to include in these discussions. They would be ports, spinoffs, and anything that doesn't sell at least 500k copies whilst shifting significant amounts of hardware. Given that, the Vita has 'no' games.

Still, the none games that it does have have kept me entertained since launch. I can't grumble.

So it's not fair to compare them?

Edit: For the record I want to want a Vita, but there isn't that one game that'll push me over the edge to getting one. I might get one eventually just for off-screen play with PS4. I love me some off-screen play.

You can compare them as you want, but bragging that a 2 year old console has more games of a year old console is just utterly stupid especially if the 3ds doesn't seem to have double of the vita games.

OP, I don't need a Vita to play half of the games you listed.
Isn't the same for ps360?
Do we have to scratch Skyrim, batman etc form ps360 lineups only because they are multi?
Vita needs more esclusives but nintendo consoles have only esclusives because they can't run multis, this is the truth, it's not a thing to be proud of. Eh but nintendo fans know how to overturn things.

We really just need an FF, MGS, God of War and Uncharted vita-exclusive games that are almost as good (or widely received which I wouldn't consider Abyss as) as their home consoles counter-parts. I wouldn't mind a souls game on it either.

That isn't a knock on indie titles though, I'm just speaking in terms of mass appeal.

Part of the problem though is that many ports are downgraded. Some it's just a bit graphically, something to be expected on a portable. Others have entire aspects of the game removed to fit the lesser storage (that one MLB game was lacking a career mode I do believe, as an example)

I certainly am not against getting a vita again once it actually gets games I want... but between the Vita and the Wii U, I don't think I'm going to get any launch systems anymore.

I dont even have time to play all of my Vita games.

This may be the reason I thought of this thread. With the amount of games we get given through PS+ (on both PS3 and Vita), I'm finding it hard to commit to any game. So just end up juggling many and hardly finishing any.

Would you say that the 3DS's library has better "quality" overall?

I'm one of these people, too. I don't own any consoles, for that matter. The Vita and PS+ is the perfect counterpart to a PC gamer.

Vita actually had a pretty damn good first year. Admittedly there aren't too many original Vita games on the horizon, but there's still E3.

Vita's problem are ports. There's a lot of them.
For now, Vita has games, but really few. It had a nice first year, but the problem is that second year looks worse than 1st year. Really few announcements, and I'm not sold on those late indie ports.

This, my backlog is insane!

Still need to play (only bought them, or played them shortly):
Soul sacrifice
Sonic allstars racing
Unit 13
Rayman
CoD
Virtua tennis4
Alien breed
LBP
Sony Allstars
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
Fifa soccer
Sine mora
Retro city rampage
Oddworld strangers wrath
Motorstorm RC
Zen pinball2
Puddle
Mutant blob
Escape vector
Hungry giraffe

And a shitload of ps1 and psp classics. Games are cheap on this thing <3

Yep, Vita is insane! Hope to finish Sly4 this week.

Honestly if I wouldn't have got in on that Amazon Black Friday deal and then on top of that sell off most of those extras to get a white Vita and 3 months of PS+ for $125 I'm not sure if I would have got one. I figured it would be a long time before I got one at that price and that there were at least a few games coming out for it that I wanted, not to mention the library of PSP games and PS1 classics I could play.

As for the stripped out stuff, that is a shame and I admit I'm not aware of how MK Vita compares to console counterparts.

I think the fiasco of "launch window" games on the Wii U being pushed almost into the fall of this year is a lot worse than the Vita just having a sparse release schedule at times. I don't like to "bash" a console but that's how I feel. Both consoles need games big time though.

Most Vita ports aren't stripped out at all. Can't think of any I own.

Oh DOA5+ was missing lobbies.

On the whole though, most games get packed quite nicely, SFxT got the free extra characters, Fifa (apart from the new mechanic) has basically every mode from the normal game afaik, NFS:MW (no dlc though), S:RT, EDF 2017 got quite good extras as well.

I don't know if the vita has any games. Or I wouldn't if I didn't see stuff on them here. This is part of the problem, maybe its a UK thing but there's so little advertising for the vita or any games.

The Vita has games, but a Mario, Dragon Quest, Pokémon or Zelda is worth a dozen Dragon's Crowns, Gravity Rushes, Guacamelees or Soul Sacrifices in the eyes of the public. And they aren't wrong. They'd certainly sell better.

On that list the only games I'm interested in are WipEout and Super Stardust Delta.
Something like Lumines sure would be nice to have, but it's not as if it hasn't been done to death now.
Way too little to justify owning the system for me, especially since it's future looks anything but rosy as well.

I also find it peculiar how people scoff at the notion of Wii U owners looking forward to the release of Earthbound and ridicule them, even though a large part of the west has never been able to play it, yet Jet Set Radio gets put on a list to justify the purchase of a Vita. :-/

I don't blame you. Here's a full list of upcoming Vita games for Europe with release date

06/14 LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey
06/21 MotoGP 13

Both 3DS and Vita have a good library, there's not a big difference between the two at all. In both side's lists in this thread there are a good amount of multi/ports, and there's a good quantity of overrated games as well. PES 2011? MGS3D? Ace Combat? Sine Mora? lol

Kind of proves the point to give lists which consist mainly of ports. I have no doubt that by the end of its like, Vita will have a decent library of exclusive titles, but for now there are very few compelling reasons to get one.

A one year older console has more games? Compliments! A really impossible task!

Oh hey, look, it's Captain Obvious!! Was wondering when you'd pop in here.

He answered OP's question. If it's bothering you so much, thread might not be for you.

Sales aside, I think a lot of it comes from expectations. We know what titles to expect on both the 3DS and Wii-U. And we don't have to worry as often on whether or not the scale of the new titles are not up to par with previous its previous iterations (for the most part- haven't played Other M but obviously the word is that it's meh, on gaf anyway). It's a safe card. It's really hard to expect certain things off a Sony handheld because they haven't been in the handheld biz for as long.

Clearly that's all Europe is getting till the vita is dead.

Lets not put words into my mouth there. I am trying to show what could be the main reason why there's so little advertising currently for the vita or any games to him.

My guess is that a high percentage of those games are found on other platforms. People tend to look at exclusives when rating a console's lineup.

They should still be advertising the vita and all the games on it, people need reminding and ads. True we should expect more ads when the main games land later but Sony really need to spend more on advertising.

Isn't the same for ps360?

Yes it is. Though the multiplats don't run the same on each platform, so there is still some difference.

Ports don't particularly matter on nintendo platforms as long as they've traditionally brought the exclusives . They are an easy way to fill a system's library but it shouldn't be what defines it, which is where the vita is right now.

Lists mean nothing. It is only what you prefer, and most of us on here have a steady income and can buy 3+ full priced games a month if they wanted to.

Yet it's still the masses that have to buy a system, and those are more easily convinced by accessible heavy hitters. P4G is a very good game, yet my little cousin would never want to play it.

My main problem holding me back from considering a vita is that I have no idea what exclusives are coming for it. There's Killzone, Tearaway and.... what else?

Heck, even with Wii U's software drought, at least I know that X, Bayonetta 2, Sonic, W101, Mario and Smash are coming. As much as I want to play Persona 4, Gravity Rush, and Uncharted, I dont want to buy a system where there's barely any confirmed exclusives in its future.

If it wasn't for Ys, I wouldn't have any games to look forward to on Vita or I must have forgotten about all of them. I really hope Sony shows something new at E3.

You think there is more difference between games on ps360 than between a home console and a portable?

I guess luxuries like console quality at your convenience and in your hand are only really appreciated after experiencing them, even still that seems incredibly narrow minded, leaving out people that actually value portability - (here's a tidbit, it's actually everyone).

Of cause they should, but Sony seems reluctant to spend those advertising cash for the Vita.

The only major vita titles this year I can think of are the 2 FF ports (also for PS3), and Killzone, which is really weak compared to Uncharted/Call of Duty/Assassin's Creed/LBP etc last year.

I understand the multiplat thing but a game doesn't have to be a system seller to be called a game.

Quite. But that's just the ultimate explanation of the "Vita has no games" line of logic; it does have games, but not many that really sell the system. This does not automatically make the remaining games "not games," and I don't think anyone in this topic is arguing that.

Hell, at this point, the only thing left to discuss seems to be list wars.

We don't know the full list yet. And Tearaway should be heavily advertised too.

I've been having trouble keeping track of every last release for both 3DS and Vita, since a lot of the DD stuff flies under the radar; i think they both have decent amounts of games now.

I do find it surprising people that Vita doesn't get the credit it deserves for parts of its library though. Fighters for instance, it has completely sewn up with nothing but excellent versions of almost every recent fighting game. Genre breakdown list wars could be interesting.

It also has plenty of games that would be borderline impossible to make or at least severely downgraded if they were on 3DS, so it's not like the system is without unique selling points in comparison to the missing Nintendo 1st party games. It also has one of the best ratios of quality to shovelware of any system.

I'd be interested to see a list of first year PSP games to compare with as well, cause i think it has that beat in at least quality.
