The premise behind this looks really interesting. But - I think it will be a nightmare if you play solo and have to group up with 4 randoms.
Based on my experience playing with random people in online games, the odds will always be against you if you try and play with 4 other random players.
The odds of finding 4 randoms who will each take their roles seriously, communicate and devote legitimate time and effort to their role have to be astronomically against you if you are playing on PSVR.
You have the guy with the muted mike because his gf/wife/mother is asleep in the next room.
You have the guy who means well, but then gets three phone calls during the game and just leaves you there hanging.
You have the guy who has no idea what he is doing and just wants to spam warp drive.
You have the over-the-top try hard who screams at everyone else for not playing the game according to Star Trek lore.
I hate to say it - but you have a much greater chance of getting one or more of these guys in your crew than landing a dream team.
It will be really interesting to see how they handle matchmaking. In other Ubisoft games (like The Division and Watch Dogs 2), they just throw you in with randoms - with minimal level requirements, etc.
