Wangan Midnight for PS3

Surprised that no one posted about this being released. Play-Asia has both Japanese and Asian versions in stock. for $65 and $60 respectively. Does anyone know if this game has the option to make it English or English Subtitles? I looked on their official site and everything appeared to be Japanese. I know that the original PS2 version was all Japanese with no option to change it. Is this supposed to be more like the Maximum Tune series or a whole new game? I'm thinking about ordering it as I enjoy the Maximum Tune series, Initial D series and Tokyo Extreme Racer series. Anyone have more details about this game? Thanks.

I got an email this morning from play-asia letting me know that they sent my package, so hopefully it will get here by Friday. Unfortunately, this is not a port or part of the Maximum Tune series by Namco but more like another entry into the Genki series. I will post full impressions once the game arrives full speed in the S30Z.

You must answer the English language question... I will be on this like flies on... you know... if it's got english language menus. I'm guessing it'll have some english in menus, but not for storyline or some descriptions.

Okay, quick impressions since I'm on my lunch break, but the game's menus are in english but there is no option to change the rest of the game language (story mode text and sound). You have the option of installing 1650MB on the HDD for data cache in the menu. The GT Force Pro and GT Force RX Steering wheels are supported. Wangan Connection allows you to see your various rankings online and also play up to 4 players against each other. More impressions later after work.

Okay...some quick thoughts...

-Some might not like the controls. It's classic TXR type stuff.
-The card system in this game makes the Wangan world go round. You gain them from the story mode and can use them for online battles.
-It's somewhat challenging. I've had to do quite a few missions over and over again. The cpu boost is somewhat crazy.
The story mode is interesting and follows the manga using cut scenes. JPN text though <_<
Menus are in English

And I'm freakin stuck on chapter 5...that's all for now...

Can I just play the game as a TXR game and progress without understanding the story?

Does anyone know if I can get more cards form other modes rather then from Story? I'm totally stuck on this one mission and I'm giving it a break...

It seems like 30 because it definitely isn't as smooth as 60 fps. I'm running it at 1080p btw.
What is their problem?!

First the 360 game is 30 fps and now the PS3 game too?!!?

This game looks better and a has an awesome sense of speed, unlike the 360 Shutokou Battle. I think the controls are also a bit more arcade-like; it's easier to get really fast and the steering is a bit looser. It feels like a nice package overall, although is also more of the same.

Yep, you sure can...

Oh god that is exactly what I wanted to here... now I need to track down the cheapest place to order it from....

I'm currently running it at 1080P and it looks good...

I'm still stuck on Chapter 5 (the second race). I can't keep up and I just end up blowing my engine.

I'm going to play surviver mode and try to earn some more cards...

Which version comes with a card that has English instructions on it? Asian version or Japanese version? (looking on playasia.com's website)

How does this compare to Sega's Initial D game for PS2? Similar handling?

Nope...nothing like it..
